Chapter 50 - Chapter 50 - Running Some Tests

They made their way over to the elevator, all four of them, and upon entering, Phil pressed a button that revealed an entirely new pad.

Scanning his finger on the pad, a screen appeared that allowed him to select more floors, from which he picked floor B2, and the elevator began to move down.

It went down all the way back down to the base floor, then began going down further, down two floors in total.

From what Lily could assume, they were now underground, on basement floor two.

"Here we are."

Phil said as the door opened, revealing another hallway; this time, it was completely white and lined with many cameras.

They walked down the hallway for a while, passing a few doors along the way until they eventually came across a door labeled 'Lab #4' at the top.

Entering the door, they were met by a large white and grey room that seemed much like a waiting room, with desks, chairs, and much more. It also possessed screens that showed what looked like multiple other rooms, each filled with different machines and devices.

Upon entering the room, a man in a lab coat, or what looked like it, greeted them.

"Sir, we have everything ready."

He said as he approached Phil.

Phil nodded at him and then spoke to Lily, introducing the man.

"This nice man is a doctor that works here; he, along with some of his colleagues, will be the ones that will run some tests on you, ok? Don't worry; your parents and I will be here waiting."

Lily nodded and followed the man into one of the rooms, showing a little bit of hesitation to go along with her act.

Walking into the room, she could see multiple other doctors in it, along with what looked like a large X-Ray machine, one that was used to do full body scans on people.

"Please change into these; it will make things much easier."

Explained a female doctor that approached her, handing her a gown commonly worn in hospitals.

Lily took it from the lady, and she quickly got changed after being shown to a dressing room to the side.

While changing, she made sure to temporarily alter her body to look as human as she possibly could, aside from her multiple hearts, which were already exposed.

She also temporarily made it so some of the X-Genes she had gotten were put into a dormant state, rendering them inactive until she once again activated them.

This was easy since they were adapted to fit her body and her needs; turning something on and off within her body was something that was naturally a needed feature.

Once she was finished changing, she returned to the room with the other doctors, who then directed her to sit on the machine's tray.

"Before we begin, we just need a few samples from you, blood, hair, and saliva."

The lady explained what they needed to do while her co-workers took out what they needed to do it, and Lily simply nodded.

She didn't mind them doing this because her current D.N.A. wasn't her natural one; it was the one she altered to fit her needs.

And even if they somehow got her current D.N.A., it would die outside of her body if she so ordered it to, as it was nothing but an extension of herself, and she had complete control over herself.

Not to mention, her D.N.A. was constantly changing with how much her body could adapt and grow, so it wouldn't stay the same.

They began with the blood test; however, as they attempted to inject her with the needle, the needle bent as it could not penetrate her durable skin.

This was due to the first ability she planned to reveal, her superhuman mutation.

It would be the hardest mutation to hide, and it was also the most beneficial mutation to reveal, as it showed her body was capable of taking on tasks that no ordinary girl her age would.

Which increased the likelihood that she would be of use to S.H.I.E.L.D. and thus made it more likely she would have an easier time gaining the access she wanted.

"Um."

She said as she looked at the doctor's stunned and confused face.

Snapping out of it quickly, the doctor placed the needle down and moved away, speaking to his co-worker.

Lily could hear him telling them to go on and take her other samples, saliva, and hair while he went and told Phil about the situation.

After he left the room, the other doctors did just that. Taking a sample of her saliva using a swab tool, and a strand of her hair, that was rather hard to cut off.

While this was happening, however, Lily focused on what was being said outside the door, which she could hear thanks to her improved senses.

"Sir, I have a situation to report."

The doctor said as he approached Phil, not outright speaking the report as the other two Agents were still outside.

They had all been watching the screens to see what was happening within the room, but the angle of the cameras didn't grant them the ability to see the precise bending of the needle.

"Go ahead."

Phil replied, giving the man the ok to speak about it in front of the others.

"Sir, the needle that we were using to attempt to draw blood was unable to pierce her skin. Her skin is very tough, much tougher than that of a normal person."

Phil was somewhat surprised, but it wasn't outside the realm of possibility since he was already aware that she might be a mutant. He, however, didn't expect her mutation to take the form of physical capabilities.

"How much tougher is it?"

"We aren't sure, Sir. We can only be sure if we run some more tests. Should we?"

Phil thought for a few seconds before shaking his head, replying to the man.

"No, we should talk to her first. Processed with the normal check-up for now. Do you have any other way to draw blood?"

The doctor nodded and replied.

"Yes, Sir, we have needles that are capable of piercing the skin of even super soldiers."

"Good, then use that."

The doctor finished speaking and returned to the room after ordering someone to bring the needed needles.

The process of collecting the other samples had been completed, and they finished the blood sample shortly after.

Now all that was left was a few other things.
