Niku couldn't tell which way was up or down, she wasn't even sure if she was breathing. 'I don't understand...' Niku thought, as her heart raced, though she had no idea.
"What's wrong with her?" Peki asked, as she looked to her left to see Niku flailing about on the ground.
"She's clearly messing around." Kujo said, as she decided to ignore Niku.
"I doubt it, Niku isn't the type to do something so stupid." Peki said, as she analyzed the situation.
"Let her do whatever she's doing, we're in a fight!" Kujo said, failing to understand that Niku is actually in trouble.
"Vile can wait, if anything were to happen to us, Niku would be the first one to help us, right after she'd call us stupid." Peki said, as she began to walk toward Niku.
"I doubt that." Kujo said, as she stayed to fight Vile.
'That girl... Crocodile. She's staring at Niku, and slowly moving closer.' Peki thought, as she finished her analysis. 'It seems that Crocodile was going for Utsu, so Niku tried to stop her.' Peki thought, as she understood the situation.
"N-Niku?" Utsu asked, raising her voice enough for Niku to hear it at the distance Niku was from Utsu. Utsu felt confused when Niku didn't reply.
'Crazy and Smile haven't really done anything yet, I need to pay attention to them incase they decide to sneak attack or something else inconvenient.' Peki thought, as she slowly raised her arm toward Crocodile, ready to shoot at her.
"Peki!" Kujo shouted, as rose vines grew from the ground next to Peki. Peki ignored the vines, expecting Kujo or Kutsuyon to take care of them.
"Your fight's with me!" Kutsuyon shouted, as she kept swinging at Vile, though Vile was still fast enough to dodge.
Kujo jumped up and burned the vines in her usual orange fire. "What're you doing?!" Kujo asked, as she couldn't understand why Peki didn't move out of the way.
"Protect me while I charge this, it needs most of my focus." Peki quickly explained, leaving Kujo to not completely understand.
"Why?" Kujo asked, feeling like Peki should leave Niku to her own fight.
"This one seems dangerous, she must be eliminated quickly." Peki explained, as her left hand slowly folded into her wrist and turned into some weapon that Kujo couldn't quite grasp what it would do.
"Fine, just hurry, I'll get bored." Kujo said, as she agreed to protect Peki while she charges.
'This needs to be quiet, as not to alert Crocodile. It seems her focus is on Niku, but I can't risk this chance.' Peki thought, making sure she knows exactly what she's doing.
"You're annoying me!" Kutsuyon shouted, as she began to swing faster at Vile.
"You're still too slow?!" Vile shouted, with a bloody smile.
'Countdown... Ten.' Peki thought, as she knew how long the silent charging would take.
Kujo dodged vines that were targeted at her, and quickly burned them as they changed their target to Peki. "This is already getting boring! I wanna be up there with Kutsuyon!" Kujo shouted, complaining to Peki.
'Nine... Eight...' Peki thought, trying to focus. "Just a few more seconds..." Peki said, hoping Kujo could wait. Kutsuyon kept slicing at Vile, and Vile still kept dodging. Vile would keep launching herself away from Kutsuyon using her vines to send herself backward.
'Seven... Six...' Peki thought, as she kept counting, and had her arm aimed at Crocodile, ready to shoot once she reached zero.
Scaley's eyes looked over at Utsu, who seemed distracted and was unprotected. "That's what Niku was so worried about, right?" Scaley said, as she began to walk toward Utsu.
Peki's arm gun began to light up slightly as it charged. "Five... Four..." Peki thought, getting closer to zero with every second.
'Just to hurry things up, I'll remove this one.' Scaley thought, as she closed her book and kept her eyes on Utsu, slowly making her way closer.
'Three... Two...' Peki counted, getting so close to zero. Peki felt ready to shoot this, ready for the first kill.
"Any day now!" Kujo shouted, as she faught off more vines. "Why does she keep trying? I'm literally her weakness..." Kujo said, talking to herself.
'One...' Peki thought, as the light in her arm gun became brighter.
"Stop moving!" Kutsuyon shouted, becoming very frustrated with Vile. Peki's eyes widened as she noticed through her peripheral vision that Vile and Kutsuyon were rushing in front of her.
'I can't cancel.' Peki thought, as she knew that within a few milliseconds, she'd shoot and miss Crocodile, potentially hitting a different target. Peki moved her arm down in a quick attempt to not hit Kutsuyon, but barely moved her arm an inch before her arm gun fired. A ball of light appeared from her arm gun, and just as quickly as it appeared, it dashed forward, and caused an explosion as it touched the ground between Vile and Kutsuyon. Vile stumbled backward as the explosion caused her to lose her balance once she landed, but Kutsuyon was able to take it and ignore it.
Vile fell and hit her head on a rock, causing her to go unconscious. Kutsuyon looked at Vile, asleep in the sand, and a viscous smile grew on her face, along with her eyes that screamed victory. "You just fell right into my realm!" Kutsuyon said, sounding excited. Kutsuyon's eyes turned from red irises with black scleras back to green irises with white scleras as Kutsuyon switched back with Kutsuyo. Kutsuyo fell to her knees, as she didn't expect to switch so quickly, though she caught herself from falling further.
"Kutsuyo, what happened?" Peki asked, having noticed that the two had switched.
"She switched..." Kutsuyo said, stating the obvious, but not knowing anymore than them.
"Hm..." Peki mumbled, as she began to think about what Kutsuyon could be doing.
"Whatever!" Kujo shouted, as she walked over to Vile, who laid unconscious. "She's done for!" Kujo said, with an excited smile.
'Niku's still on the ground, but she's stopped moving...' Peki thought, as she looked at Niku. 'She's still breathing though.' Peki continued thinking, as she looked closer at Niku.
"I can kill her, right?" Kujo asked, as Peki noticed that Kujo had been staring at her.
"Yes." Peki said, feeling confused about why Kujo would feel the need to ask.
"Okay!" Kujo said, as orange flames appeared in her hands. Kutsuyo backed away, giving room for Kujo to do her thing, and as Kujo raised her hand, Vile began to move. 'She's awake?!' Kujo thought, as she felt like she needed to hurry. Then, suddenly, Vile's arms had large holes appear in them, and blood began to pour out.
Kutsuyon held Vile up in the air with large, black, almost tentacle-like arms which had been stabbed through Vile's arms. "Welcome to my world, only my mind can control the things here!" Kutsuyon said, as Kutsuyon had trapped Vile in her dream world.
"Your world?" Vile asked, before she bit the bottom of her lip until it bled.
"Why did her arms start bleeding?" Kujo asked, as she backed away, feeling unsure about what to expect.
"It's Kutsuyon." Kutsuyo said, as she put together Kutsuyon's goal.
"Hahaha! Perish!" Kutsuyon shouted, as she laughed. Kutsuyon lifted Vile higher, and began to swing her down with incredible speed and force.
"What about Kutsuyon?" Kujo asked, as rose vines grew from Vile's body, the vines frantically grew around, in a sort of struggle.
"She's trapped Vile in our world." Kutsuyo said, as she looked away from Vile and at Kujo. Kujo took a moment to think, and as she thought, her eyes turned to Vile's body. And as her eyes met Vile's body, her body began to mangle and her head crushed in. "It would seem that Kutsuyon has killed her." Kutsuyo said, as she turned to look at Smile and Crazy. Crazy's eyes were wide and she seemed to be chuckling to herself, and smile was still doing his short, repetitive dance.
"Crazy doesn't seem impressed." Peki mentioned, before she turned away and looked at Crocodile.
"Yeah..." Kujo said, as she noticed Scaley making her way to Utsu. "Peki, Kutsuyo, look at Utsu." Kujo said, trying to get them to notice too. They both turned toward Utsu, and noticed Scaley almost right beside her.
"Does Utsu not notice?!" Peki said, as she began to rush over to Utsu as quickly as she could. Peki rushed through Crocodile, pushing her down as she used all of her speed to help Utsu, who's still focusing on Niku.
"Utsu!" Peki shouted, as she tried to get Utsu's attention. But as she yelled, a jack o' lantern appeared from behind Utsu. 'I've seen that before...' Peki thought, as she began to slow her running. Peki remembered back when the world was being destroyed by the bomb dropping rainbow, she remembered seeing Utsu holding a jack o' lantern that she called SpOwOky OwOky Pumpkin. 'It's Utsu's ability.' Peki continued thinking, feeling like this is an opportunity to see what Utsu can do. The jack o' lantern jumped up and then it ran a few inches away from Utsu, and it started to spray fire from its mouth, and it made a circle of fire around Utsu.
"Hey! Fire's my thing!" Kujo shouted, as she felt as if she wasn't as special.
"You two aren't the only ones who can use fire." Peki said, as she used her right middle finger as a flame thrower.
"Woah!" Kujo said, as she felt surprised by the sudden burst of fire. "No fair!" Kujo shouted, and stopped her foot, as Kujo did that her eyes turned light blue.
"Fire?" Scaley asked, as she stopped close to the circle of fire that blocked Utsu. Utsu looked around as she realized she hadn't been paying attention to her surroundings.
"That fire... it's fake." Peki said, as she analyzed the flame from a distance.
"Huh?" Kujo asked, as she looked at Peki with a confused expression.
"The fire around Utsu, it isn't creating any gas or heat, it's only a facade to scare away predators." Peki said, explaining Utsu's ability as she understood it.
"Ha! So I'm the REAL fire user!" Kujo shouted, feeling proud of herself again.
"Anyway, let's help Utsu before Scaley realizes that the fire's fake." Peki said, before she walked over to Scaley, while Kujo followed behind her.
'I can... hear again... And think too!' Niku thought, as she opened her eyes, realizing that she can see. "I can even feel!" Niku said, feeling extremely relieved.
Crocodile sat on the ground, looking at Vile's destroyed body, which wasn't too far away from where she sat. "It's one to zero now... first to five wins..." Crocodile said, before she looked at Peki and Kujo.
"Jeez..." Niku said, as she stood up. "Like, what the hell was that?" Niku asked herself, as she looked around the arena, looking for Utsu.
"Niku!" Peki yelled, as she noticed that Niku is on her feet again.
Niku looked over and saw Peki signal for Niku to come over to her, so Niku walked over. "What do you want?" Niku asked, as she took her usual crossing arm stance.
"Are you injured?" Peki asked, making sure that Niku is okay to continue fighting.
"I'm fine, I'm not a frickin' baby." Niku said, as she reached for her rod in her back pocket. 'It isn't there?' Niku thought, as she realized that she dropped it. Niku ran back to where she was and frantically searched the sand to find her rod. "Ugh! 'Course this would happen!" Niku shouted, as she felt frustrated with herself for losing her rod.
"Here." Peki said, as Peki handed Niku her rod.
"How did you get it?" Niku asked, feeling confused.
"You walked right over it..." Peki said, feeling like Niku is a little dumb.
"Well... thanks." Niku said, as she took her rod while feeling embarrassed.
"Rahhh!" Kujo shouted, as she jumped at Scaley, and tried to kill her with fire.
"You're annoying already." Scaley said, as she opened her book.
"Fight me! Quit reading your dumb book!" Kujo shouted, as she stood in front of Scaley, wanting a fair fight using their abilities.
"Kujo!" Peki yelled, as her and Niku made their way to Kujo and Scaley. "She uses magic, the book is how she fights..." Peki explained, as she felt like everyone around her is an idiot.
"Oh..." Kujo said, as she looked at Scaley's book.
"That's not exactly true, but I don't care to chat with the enemy." Scaley said, as she began to create a purple symbol in her hand as her eyes seemed to read something in the book.
Niku extended out her rod, and hit Scaley's book away with it. Scaley looked at Niku, as Niku gained Scaley's attention, becoming Scaley's target. "So, you're, like, not helpless without this stupid book then?" Niku asked, testing Scaley.
Scaley lifted her right hand toward Niku. "I'm not helpless at all." Scaley said, as she created three red circles in her already lifted right hand.
"Not this again!" Niku shouted, as she began to regret testing Scaley. Niku turned and rushed away.
"It's different this time. You'll find out how." Peki said, as she used her remaining shoe to fly up and backward. Scaley shot out three fire balls, one aimed toward Peki, another aimed toward Niku, and the last one aimed toward Kujo.
"Three!?" Niku shouted, in surprise. Niku jumped, trying to get further away, and then she hit the ground as the fire ball flew over her and then vanished as it hit the sand.
"Fire!?" Kujo shouted, feeling annoyed. "Does everyone here use fire!?" Kujo shouted, as she jumped up and opened her mouth for the fire ball to fly into it, then Kujo swallowed the fire ball. Peki, Niku, and Scaley all looked at Kujo like she was insane. "...What's wrong?" Kujo asked, as she felt awkward with everyone staring at her.
"You can eat fire?!" Niku asked, almost yelling at Kujo.
"Well, if I use my fire to surround other fire, then yes." Kujo said, as if that was obvious.
"Okay... sure..." Niku said, as she decided to accept it and move on.
'Falare unsae tyro...' Scaley thought, as she looked at the palm of her right hand. 'I don't ever need to chant anything, even though everyone else had to.' Scaley continued thinking, as she thought back to when she first began learning magic.
"Scaley." A woman said, as she looked at a young Scaley.
"Yes, mom?" Scaley asked, as she looked up at her mother.
"We're going to get you into a school soon, doesn't that sound exciting?!" Scaley's mother asked, hoping that Scaley would like that.
"Why?" Scaley asked, as she tilted her head at her mother. "Aren't the bad people there?" Scaley continued.
"Scaley..." Scaley's mother said, as she crouched down to Scaley's level. "They aren't bad people, they just misunderstand Sirens." Scaley's mother said, trying to get Scaley to understand.
"What if they don't like me...?" Scaley asked, feeling like they'll see her as different.
"Well, you don't need to worry about that." Scaley's mother said, trying to get Scaley to not worry.
"How come?" Scaley asked, feeling confused about how her mother knew that.
"Because people are nice, I'm sure they'll give you a chance." Scaley's mother said, with a smile.
"Really?!" Scaley asked, feeling excited.
"Yep!" Scaley's mother replied, as she gave Scaley a headpat.
Scaley stood in front of a school building, she looked a few years older now, around sixteen.
"Another year..." Scaley said, under her breath.
"You'll be late, Scaley." A man in a suit said, as he walked by Scaley and into the school. Scaley said nothing and walked into the school behind the man.
Scaley eventually sat down at a desk, and immediately took out a book from another class, which was titled The Science of Magic. Scaley flipped to page thirty four and began to silently read. The same man that talked to Scaley at the school's entrance came into the room and sat down at the teacher's desk.
"Okay, class." The teacher said. "We're going to continue where we left off yesterday, does anyone remember what that was?" The teacher asked, trying to engage his students. One of the students rose their hand. "Yes, Honda?" The teacher said, acknowledging Honda has the potential answer.
"We talked about how Sirens and Humans are now in peace after the big war they had." Honda said, as he stood to speak.
"That's correct, Honda." The teacher said, as he stood up and walked to the board in the front of the classroom. "For a very long time, Sirens and Humans would kill each other daily, it was even sport to hunt each other." The teacher said, as he had slides going across a board at the front wall.
'I'm pretty good with Water, but I still need to practice more in my Air, Earth, and especially Fire magic...' Scaley thought, as she continued reading to herself.
The teacher looked around at the students for a moment, he noticed Scaley focused on her book. "Can anyone tell me why the Humans and Sirens faught so much?" The teacher asked, as he faked looking arounf the room and ignored the few students that had their hand raised. "Ah, Scaley." The teacher continued, calling on Scaley to answer the question.
"Because Sirens used to eat people as their main source of food, and a lot still do." Scaley said, as she continued staring at her book.
"'Course she'd know that..." A student close to Scaley whispered to someone else.
"I'd bet that she eats people too..." Another student replied.
"Look at her... A little Witch anf her Magic book..." The previous student said, continuing to judge Scaley.
'Are they talking about me again?' Scaley thought, as she stopped reading for a moment to listen.
"Ugh... those ears... they're hideous..." The students continued.
'They are... Whatever.' Scaley thought, acknowledging they're unnecessary judgement. 'I'm already almost Tier Two in my Water Magic... so, maybe I should start focusing on something else?' Scaley asked herself, as she began reading again.
"Now, recently, there has been a treaty between our Kingdom and the Sirens." The teacher explained, showing slides of written documents and of the King signing papers. "Our friend, Scaley, is the first Siren to attend Human schools." The teacher continued explaining.
"It should stay that way! I don't want any more of those creatures here!" A boy shouted, as he stood from his desk.
"It's things like this that cause war, Mr. Foster." The teacher said, looking a bit upset at the boy.
"Good! Those scale-necks should all be burned at the stake!" He smugly shouted, looking straight at Scaley, who only seemed to care about her book.
"Mr. Foster!" The teacher shouted. "I will not tolerate that behavior. See me after class." The teacher said, looking very upset.
'She made it seem like this was a good idea...' Scaley thought, talking to herself about her mother. 'Though, I'm glad I've learned about Magic.' Scaley thought, beginning to grow a small grin.
"What're you smirking about, scale-neck?" The boy asked, as he walked toward Scaley.
"Sit down, Mr. Foster." The teacher said, becoming more annoyed with the boy.
"Just feeling happy." Scaley replied, staying fixated in her book.
"Oh, yeah? About what?" The boy asked, feeling slightly curious.
"Happy that I had the opportunity to learn about Magic." Scaley replied, beginning to smile a little more.
"Tch." The boy mumbled, as he grabbed her book.
"Mr. Foster! Back to your seat, now!" The teacher yelled, as he began walking toward the boy.
"Give it back." Scaley demanded, as she tried to reach for her book that he held up too high for her to reach.
"Or what? You'll eat me?" The boy asked, trying to mock Scaley.
Scaley glared at the boy. "Nathan..." She said, as her voice sounded almost like a hiss. Nathan froze for a moment, feeling expected fear. Within the next second, right before the teacher made it to Scaley's desk, Nathan dropped Scaley's book and ran out of the classroom.
"Nathan's done it again..." A student sighed, seeming tired of Nathan's shenanigans.
"I apologize for his behavior, Scaley..." The teacher said, feeling disappointed in Nathan.
"It's fine." Scaley said, as she picked up her book, and sat back down at her desk.
"I'll deal with Mr. Foster after class. For now, we can have a small break and then we'll continue our lesson." The teacher said, with a slightly stressed tone.
A bell rings throughout the school, and students immediately stand up from their seats and begin exiting the classroom. 'Maybe he won't appear today...' Scaley thought, as she exited a classroom. 'After what happened at the beginning of day, he's probably scared.' Scaley continued thinking, as she turned and began walking down a staircase.
"Did you hear about Seika?" A girl walking behind Scaley asked another girl walking next to her.
"Oh! Yeah, she got knocked up by a teacher, right? Mr. Trats, I think?" The other girl said, talking about meaningless drama.
"EVERYONE BE QUIET!" Nathan shouted, causing everyone to stand still and shut up. "Where's the scale-neck?" Nathan continued, asking for Scaley.
"Scaley's here." The girl behind Scaley said, pushing Scaley out of the group of people on the stairs.
"Why don't you come down the stairs?" Nathan asked, as he signaled with his hands for her to come closer.
"What do you want?" Scaley asked, as she made her way to the bottom of the stairs.
"Just got a few questions..." Nathan said, as he noticed people start walking and talking again. "Did I say you could continue?!" Nathan yelled, causing everyone to stop and shut up again.
"Like what?" Scaley asked, playing along in hopes it'll end it sooner.
"You ever eat anyone?" Nathan asked, trying to pick on Scaley.
"No...?" Scaley said, feeling confused by the stupidity of the question. 'Obviously I haven't, I wouldn't be here if I had!' Scaley thought, feeling like he's gotten dumber.
"Have you thought about it?" Nathan asked, getting a little closer to Scaley, trying to insert some kind of dominance towards her.
"I'm thinking about it right now..." Scaley whispered, growing annoyed with Nathan's questions and presence.
"What'd you say?" A boy said, as he walked up to Scaley's side. Scaley quickly looked at him, feeling surprise by his sudden appearance. His hair seemed covered in gel, and he had on a sports jersey with the number fifteen. 'This guy must be on one of the sports teams... What's he doing here? Some kind of back up?' Scaley thought, feeling worried about the sports guy.
"Someone getting scared?" Nathan asked, feeling like he's gained dominance over Scaley.
"Is Nathan seriously doing this...?" Some of the students whispered from the staircase.
"I'm not scared of you or your friend, Nathan Scaley said, as she turned to walk away.
Nathan grabbed Scaley's hair. "Hold it." Nathan said, with a smug smile.
Scaley's head jolted at the surprise. "Ow!" Scaley said, as she instinctively showed her teeth which seemed more sharp and animal-like.
Nathan immediately let go at the sight of her teeth. "Yeah! You can't leave!" The sports guy said, backing up Nathan.
Scaley glared at Nathan, her eyes seemed to change when she did it this time, though Scaley didn't notice. "Just let me go, Nathan..." Scaley said, becoming more annoyed with Nathan.
"Nathan, don't take her shit!" The sports guy said, trying to boost Nathan's ego. "You're stronger than her! You're Human!" The sports guy continued.
"Yeah... I'm stronger than some animal!" Nathan shouted, feeling the rush of adrenaline.
"Yeah!" The sports guy agreed.
Scaley looked at Nathan, she felt confused about why Nathan looked so pumped. Then, to Scaley's surprise, Nathan jumped at Scaley and pushed her down. "Ow!" Scaley said, as she hit the ground.
Nathan pinned Scaley to the ground. "Humans will always be stronger! Your kind will never be our equal!" Nathan shouted, looking like he's enjoying Scaley's struggle.
"Let go!" Scaley shouted, becoming angry.
"Hahaha!" Nathan laughed, as tears formed in Scaley's eyes from frustration. Nathan moved his right foot and used it to hold down Scaley's left arm.
"Nathan! You're hurting me!" Scaley yelled, as he pressed his foot down on her arm. Nathan ignored her cry, and with his free hand, he punched Scaley in her right cheek, causing blood to drool from her mouth.
"Nathan... I think that's enough, man..." The sports guy said, feeling like Nathan's gonna get into a lot of trouble.
"Why haven't any teachers arrived...?" The students whispered, wondering if they should get help.
"You think you should help her?" Nathan said loudly, talking to the students on the stairs. "Think of how many lives this scale-neck could take if he let her run free, doing whatever she wants!" Nathan said, trying to explain his view to them in hopes they'd feel the same.
"Nathan's right! Do any of you have family that was victim to a Siren?" The sports guy asked, seeing if anyone felt any resentment.
"My grandfather was killed by one..." A boy said.
"My mother was raped by three..." A girl sniffled.
"You see!" Nathan shouted, with blood lust in his eye. "We can't let this continue!" Nathan stared into Scaley's eyes.
"I-I..." Scaley stuttered, feeling unsure about what to say.
"Stupid scale-neck! This is it for you!" Nathan smiled, as he pushed his hand down on her shoulder. Scaley immediately saw her opportunity and bit into his wrist as hard as she could, shattering his wrist bone. "AAAHHH!!!" Nathan screamed, as he felt backward onto the ground. Scaley spit out his blood and whipped her mouth.
The student gasped in fear. "You see this!" Nathan shouted in pain. "We can't let it continue!" Nathan continued.
"You forced me to bite you!" Scaley shouted, feeling like the world's against her.
"You would have eventually!" The sports guy said, as helped Nathan stand.
"I'm a Siren, and you don't have to like that..." Scaley said, feeling angry with the events. "But we don't need to fight..." Scaley said, trying to get them to understand.
"Get her!" A student shouted, signaling for the rest to capture Scaley.
Scaley immediately started running, as they began to run at her. 'What do I do? Where do I go? I don't want to die!' Scaley thought, as she kept running.
"You have no where to run, Scaley!" A student yelled, as they all chased her.
'I'll use Aquor Unsae.' Scaley told herself, as she quickly turned around and pointed her palm toward the kids running at her. A Magic circle appeared on her palm, and then a ball off water was shot out of the circle and the circle disappeared, all in the time that Scaley was back to running away. One student got hit and fell, causing other students to tumble over.
"What the hell did she do?" A student asked, as they all stopped to think.
"She used Aquor Unsae, but... she didn't chant anything..." Another student said, explaining what happened.
"She did it so quickly, she didn't even need to charge her mana..." Another student said, feeling confused about everything.
'I think that scared them away...' Scaley said, as she stopped behind a corner. "What did I do wrong...?" Scaley asked herself.
"Did she go up the stairs?" A student asked, as they grew closer.
'I'll hide in the girl's bathroom.' Scaley quickly decided, as she quietly walked in the girl's bathroom. 'What am I gonna do?' Scaley thought, trying to decide her next move.
Hours had gone by, she hadn't heard anyone outside the bathroom in a while, so she decided she'd try to leave. Scaley slowly and quietly made her way out of the bathroom and into the hall, she saw no sign of anyone and left the school. 'Going home probably isn't safe...' Scaley thought, thinking that her parents may already be dead. 'I'll find somewhere to hide, I guess...' Scaley continued thinking, as she wandered into the forest behind the school.
After days of wandering, Scaley found a pretty waterfall that she decided to rest at. "I'm so hungry..." Scaley said, as she looked at the fish swimming in the water. "I don't know how to survive out here..." Scaley said, thinking that she'll probably die. Scaley made a bed out of grass, leaves, and flowers, since night was falling, and Scaley quickly fell asleep.
After Scaley woke up, she saw a wooden roof, she didn't realize that she was now in a building. "Guess I'll continue..." Scaley said, as she hopped out of the wooden bed that she woke from. "Wait...? Where am I?!" Scaley said, as she finally payed attention to her surroundings.
An old man opened the door at the other end of the room, which was filled with books. "Ah, you're finally awake!" The old man said, with a happy smile.
"Wh-Who are you...?" Scaley asked, feeling worried that he'd kidnapped her.
"We can worry about that later, breakfast is ready, come eat." The old man said, before he turned around and went down the spiral stairs.
"Eat...?" Scaley thought, as she realized how hungry she was. Scaley didn't question a thing and followed the old man.
Scaley followed the old man into a room just below the room she woke up in, it looked like an average kitchen, but everything seemed to operate itself using Magic. "Woah! You know Magic?" Scaley asked, as she felt surprised by the fact that he had so many things going on at once.
"You're practically starving, eat first, then we'll talk." The old man said, as he sat a plate of food on the table, Scaley sat down and looked at the food with hunger in her eyes, but she hesitated as she finally thought about how suspicious this is, but Scaley was too hungry to care, so she began to eat the food. "Good! Eat as much as you like!" The old man smiled, feeling happy to help someone in need. Scaley continued to eat, she's never felt so hungry in her life, she couldn't think of anything other than to eat.
Scaley put her silverware down on the plate, and looked up at the grinning old man who seemed really happy. "Um... Thank you..." Scaley said, feeling a little awkward.
"It's no trouble, you seemed like you hadn't eaten in days." The old man said, as he took her plate.
"Yeah... I hadn't..." Scaley said, trying not to think about everything.
"You're a Siren, aren't you?" The old man asked, trying to make small talk.
"Yeah, I am." Scaley replied, hoping that he doesn't hate Sirens too.
"Did you lose your pack?" The old man asked, as he sat the plate in his sink.
"My pack...?" Scaley asked, not understanding what he means.
"You know, your pack. Sirens are usually in groups, right?" The old man asked, feeling confused about her confusion.
"Oh, I'm from the city, the capital, actually..." Scaley said, understanding that he thinks she's from the ocean.
"Sirens are allowed in the city now?" The old man asked, feeling genuinely shocked.
"Y-Yeah... it's a whole thing... I doubt it'll be for much longer..." Scaley said, thinking about everything even though she's trying not to.
"I see..." The old man said. "I noticed you had this book with you." The old man said, as he showed Scaley her Magic book.
"Yeah, I'm really into Magic, though I've got a long way to go." Scaley said, trying to explain it as a hobby.
"Would you like to learn from me?" The old man asked, seeming almost excited at the thought.
"Learn from you...?" Scaley asked, feeling confused.
"Oh! I'm sorry, you probably have family to get back to, I shouldn't have said anything." The old man said, trying to take back his offer.
"Can you teach me Magic...?" Scaley asked, wondering if he really can.
"Well... yes." The old man said, looking confused at Scaley.
"Then I'd love to learn anything you can teach me." Scaley said quickly, seeming excited to see what he can teach.
"Don't you have somewhere to return to?" The old man asked, seeming very confused about Scaley.
"Not anymore." Scaley said, brushing it aside.
The old man paused for a moment. "Well, then I suppose I'll take you in as my pupil." The old man smiled.
Scaley followed the old man up the stairs. "Here we are." The old man said, as they came to the roof of what looked like a Wizard's Tower. "We will train here." The Old Wizard said as he stood in a circle on the roof.
"You're a Wizard, aren't you?" Scaley asked, feeling more excited by every surprise.
"My name is Harold Zephyus Fredulic III, and I'm the last Wizard of my bloodline." The Old Wizard said, standing proudly.
"I-I'm Scaley... and I want to be a powerful Wizard like you." Scaley said, thinking about how cool she thinks he looks.
"A Witch." The Old Wizard said. "A female Wizard is called a Witch." The Old Wizard corrected.
"Oh, right..." Scaley said, feeling like she should have known that.
"Show me what you can do, Scaley." The Old Wizard said, as he pulled out a staff from his purple robe. Without hesitation, Scaley pointed her palm toward the Old Wizard and a circle formed on her palm, and a water ball quickly shot out at the Old Wizard. The Old Wizard's shot wide up open, as he quickly blocked the water ball with some barrier. "Did you chant your spell?" The Old Wizard asked, making sure he didn't miss something.
"No, I've never needed to chant my spells." Scaley said, as if it was normal.
"Never in my days have I seen such brilliance!" The Old Wizard said, feeling super excited.
"Is it... something special...?" Scaley asked, feeling extremely confused.
"It's more than that! It's impossible! Yet, here it is!" The Old Wizard said, looking at Scaley with excited and curious eyes.
"Oh!" Scaley said, feeling special.
"We must hold off on training for today, I need to prepare a specific lesson..." The Old Wizard said, as he began to think. "There's books in your room, you can read as many as you'd like, I doubt they teach that stuff in school." The Old Wizard said, as he winked at Scaley. Scaley's eyes lit up, before she rushed down the stairs.
It's been over a year since Scaley had met the Old Wizard, she's trained with him every day, and she's already almost fully mastered all four elements, Earth, Air, Water, and Fire. "Again." The Old Wizard said, standing in the circle on the top of the Wizard's Tower. Scaley nodded and pushed her hand out toward the Old Wizard, but stopped as both her and the Old Wizard heard something peculiar outside the Wizard's Tower. "Quiet." The Old Wizard whispered. Sounds of horse hooves could be heard approaching the Wizard's Tower, and they soon seemed to stop at the front entrance. The Old Wizard quickly moved past Scaley and down the stairs, as he expected a knock at the door, Scaley followed behind him, but stayed behind the staircase wall instead of entering the first floor room. And, as the Old Wizard anticipated, a knock rung from the door.
The Old Wizard quickly opened the door, expecting some messenger, or maybe an exploring salesman, but he acted cautious incase it was someone from the Kingdom, and sure enough, it was a Knight.
"Mr. Fredulic?" The Knight asked, making sure he's talking to the correct person.
"That is I." The Old Wizard said, not saying more than needed.
"Our scouts tell that you've been training some girl..." The Knight said, with a pause.
Before the Knight could continue, the Old Wizard interrupted. "What of it?" The Old Wizard quickly asked.
"The scouts all say that she need not chant a word, only wish for the spell and it comes forth, is this true?" The Knight asked, finding it difficult to believe, even with all who say it is.
"Well, I'm no liar. Indeed it is true, my pupil can do any spell without saying anything." The Old Wizard said, telling the truth, while feeling confused about why the Kingdom would care about such a thing.
"I do find this quite difficult to believe, our Mages are the best in the country, if anyone could do such a thing, we would have them in our ranks." The Knight explained, finding the Old Wizard to be a liar. "But, before I accuse you of lying to the Kingdom, I must see prove of this girl and her specialty." The Knight said, asking to meet Scaley and see if her power is true.
The Old Wizard nodded. "Scaley." The Old Wizard said, calling for her to reveal herself. Scaley walked out from behind the wall where she listened. "Do a simple spell." The Old Wizard commanded, to prove to the Knight that he has heard no lies.
Scaley instantly held out her palm and pointed it directly at the Old Wizard. "Sure thing, old man." Scaley said, as she shot a small ball of fire at the Old Wizard, then it vanished as it hit his robe.
"My word!" The Knight said, feeling as if his eyes had tricked him.
"This girl is one of a kind, and she's on her way to surpassing even me!" The Old Wizard said, feeling very proud of how far she's come in only one year.
"In that case..." The Knight said, as he looked toward Scaley. "I must ask you hand over the girl, call it a tax for living on our Kingdom's soil." The Knight said, feeling ready to draw out his blade if need be.
"I will not!" The Old Wizard shouted. "I protect these lands from outsiders! I will do as I please." The Old Wizard said, looking ready to fight to keep Scaley.
"If you do not comply, we will wage war on you for the girl." The Knight said, threatening the Old Wizard.
"Then war it shall be." The Old Wizard said, his eyes glaring at the Knight.
"Stop! I'll go with you!" Scaley said, as she rushed closer to the door.
"You will not!" The Old Wizard demanded.
"If it means to protect you, then I'll go." Scaley said, as she walked past the Knight.
"Nevermind then." The Knight said, as he turned and began to walk away.
"They wish to use you for war!" The Old Wizard said, trying to get Scaley to come back.
"Stay there! Come any closer and we will attack." The Knight said, as he turned to face the Old Wizard. "I did not come alone, you will not win." The Knight continued.
"I refuse to let you take her!" The Old Wizard said, sounding angry. Magic circles appeared on the fingertips of the Old Wizard as Scaley got into the horse-carried wagon, it seemed like more of a cell, but Scaley didn't think much about it. As they closed and locked the wagon door behind Scaley, the Old Wizard waved his hand and wind seemed to blow the Knight off the cliff that the Wizard's Tower sat on.
Two other Knights jumped out from the front of the wagon and the wagon began to move, taking Scaley away. "No! Stop! Don't hurt him!" Scaley cried, begging that they leave the Old Wizard alone.
The Old Wizard seemed out of breathe from just the Air spell he used. 'It's one thing to teach the spells... but using them in a real fight... and at this age...?' The Old Wizard thought, as his vision seemed to blur.
"You should have stayed back." A Knight said, as he stuck his blade into the Old Wizard's stomach.
"NOO!!!" Scaley screamed, as all she could do was watch. 'Why can't I use my Magic?!' Scaley thought, feeling weak and useless.
The Old Wizard dropped to the ground, blood poured out from his stomach. "Tch. He was nothing." The Knight said, as the two Knights walked away, following the wagon.
Scaley stared blankly at papers on a desk, the words were in a language that she didn't know. Someone walked to the front of the room, it looked like a classroom, but it was dirty and dark. "Alright, those of you here have been selected for learning the forbidden knowledge in this book." The man said, as he held up a book titled Hundred Curses & The Unorganizable Vol. IV. Scaley looked up at the book, at first she didn't care what was going on, she could barely even think. Scaley had no idea how to feel after she saw the Old Wizard die before her eyes. But, that's when the anger took over, she wanted revenge. "You've been selected because you are strong Wizards and Witches. Since there are only five of you, that should let you know how incredibly special and useful you are." The man continued, looking at each of the five as he talked. Scaley's face couldn't hold back how she felt, her anger seemed to radiate through the air. Scaley stood up, quickly, and with the anger on her face and in her heart, she formed a magic circle on her hand and proceeded to use Air magic to take the book from the man. "Hey! You can't-" The man shouted, before Scaley blew him to the side. The four in the seats next to Scaley cowered in fear, expecting her to kill them, but Scaley did not, she only smiled at the book with a smile that gave them chills, it would haunt their dreams for decades. Scaley opened the book and sat back down, beginning to read what's inside, though some things seemed illiterate to her, words and symbols she'd never heard of or seen. Scaley wasn't sure what to do, but she needed to know more, she needed this power to take revenge on the power-hungry king. Scaley almost thought about going back to the Old Wizard's Tower, but she couldn't, she'd only grow angrier, seeing his body lifeless on the ground, Scaley would never recover from that.
'Think, Scaley, think!' Scaley told herself, trying to remember any lesson the Old Wizard had told her. 'What did that old man say...?' Scaley continued to think, trying to remember what exactly the Old Wizard said to her.
"Scaley... During my research, I've discovered that more than just Water, Fire-" Scaley remembered, as the Old Wizard's words seemed to fly through her head.
'No! Not that...' Scaley thought, as she cut off the memory from continuing, and began to think again.
"Scaley, my dear, magic isn't only something you just read and train to learn and master, you need to use that brain of yours! Your imagination!" The Old Wizard's words seemed to call out in Scaley's mind.
"Imagination...?" Scaley whispered, as she tried to understand the Old Wizard's lesson. The four that sat around Scaley finally mustered thr courage to leave the room, but they did so quietly, thinking they may enrage the mighty beast. 'Is this some spell to change the letters into something that can't be read...?' Scaley thought, and as she kept thinking, the word imagination kept ringing in her head. "I need to see what can't be seen... Read what can't be read... So...?" Scaley said, as an idea popped into her mind. Scaley slowly lifted her hands to her eyes, and created a magic circle infront of them, and the words seemed to scramble around the book, and quickly, they turned into something Scaley could read. With a gasp Scaley looked surprised, and felt impressed with herself, and thankful to the Old Wizard.
For two hours, Scaley sat and read through the book. "I think it's time." Scaley said, as she closed the book, and began walking out of the room. Scaley created a magic circle on the roof in the hallway from the door, and, suddenly, it exploded quickly after. Scaley then bent down and created circles on her feet, and seemed to levate upward. Scaley flew up to the next floor, though she wasn't sure of the layout of where she was, she decided to just destroy whatever was in her way, but to her luck and surprise, she turned around to see the king sitting on a throne staring at her with a confused face. Guards and knights came rushing in, ready to fight.
"Huh, I guess this works." Scaley said, as she looked around. Scaley made a circle on her hand, and with the swipe of her wrist, every guard and knight blew away. "You call yourself a King, yet you cower in fear just because I blew away a few knights?!" Scaley shouted, as she looked at the king, who's eyes were wide witg fear. Scaley looked angerly at the king, her eyes almost seemed to glow with hatred and rage, circles appeared on her hands and brought her hands together and the castle began to crumble and crack around them.
"Wh-What are you doing...?!" The King asked, looking in fear at Scaley.
"What do you think?!" Scaley yelled, feeling like he's not only weak but also stupid. "I'm destroying your castle..." Scaley said, as it all fell apart around them.
"Y-You're insane!' The King shouted, as more knights began to pour into the crumbling room.
"Your majesty!" A Knight yelled, trying to bring the king to safety.
"No!" The King shouted, refusing the knight's help.
"You're annoying!" Scaley shouted, as she spread fire throughout the crumbling room. Moonlight trickled in though the destroyed ceiling, as smoke began to rise into the air.
"We need to get you to safety! Come on!" The Knight said, trying to get the king to comply.
"I refuse!" The King shouted. "I must find out what she is!" The King continued, mostly talking to himself. The king stood from his throne and walked closer to Scaley, as he noticed her downward pointed ears, he knew. "It's as I feared..." The King said, with a thoughtful look in his eye.
"What?" A Knight asked, trying to understand what the king is talking about.
"She's a Siren!" The King shouted. "The Siren's have betrayed our trust!" The King exclaimed, seeming upset about it, but feeling happy. Scaley quickly jumped on the king once she noticed his guard was down, she bit into his left shoulder, and as he screamed in pain, she spit out his skin and muscle. "Hahahaa..." Scaley began to laugh, as blood dripped from her mouth. She felt a rush of pleasure as she began to take revenge. "Hahaha! Haha... Ha..." Scaley continued to laugh, and then she quickly began to cry.
"Get her off the king!" A Knight shouted, as the knights all tried to move around the quickly spreading fire. "We need a Mage in here!" Another Knight shouted, hoping to use water magic to put out the fire.
"Why?!" Scaley shouted, looking at the king who layed in agony. "He didn't deserve to die!" Scaley screamed, as tears began to trail down her face.
"Who the-" A Knight said, as he was suddenly cut off from speaking.
"He was a threat t-to the Kingdom... I had to-" The King said, as Scaley cut him off.
"A threat?!" She shouted, in anger. "He protected this land more than you ever could!" Scaley shouted, becoming more frustrated by the second.
"I'll make you an offer..." The King began to speak, but before he could continue, Scaley lit him on fire and stood from sitting on him as he screamed and melted. After what Scaley wished was longer, Scaley turned from the burned corpse and began to walk away, before she heard someone speak.
"You haven't anywhere to go, have you?" A woman said, from behind Scaley.
Scaley turned around, feeling surprised that anyone was there. "I don't..." Scaley said suspiciously, as she tried to locate the person.
"You can call me Crazy..." Crazy said, as she walked through the now small flames that continued to burn the castle. "That vengeful smile you had... so beautiful..." Crazy continued, smiling at the thought.
"I disagree..." Scaley said, as she began to feel uninterested.
"You know..." Crazy said, as she began to walk closer. "That book of yours, I've seen one like it." Crazy said, knowing that'd peak Scaley's interest.
Scaley looked curiously at Crazy. "What do you mean?" Scaley asked, trying to understand why Crazy would bring it up.
"If you help me put on a good show, then maybe I'll give you the book, I can't read it anyway." Crazy said with a shrug, as leaned close to Scaley, her face seeming smug.
"Fine." Scaley agreed. "Like you said, I don't have anywhere to go." Scaley continued.
"Wonderful!" Crazy said, as she took Scaley's hand.
'Even that old man needed to chant... Is there some reason that I'm different...?' Scaley thought, as this question had always bothered her.
"Get your head in the fight!" Kujo shouted, as she rushed toward Scaley. Scaley looked at Kujo with little interest. Then swiped her hand, causing Kujo to fly away from her.
Scaley sighed, feeling bored and annoyed. "How long must I do this?" Scaley asked, as she turned to Crazy.
"Until I begin the final act." Crazy said, as she decided to stick with her plan.
Peki began to shoot missiles at Scaley as Peki was the in air. "They won't miss, they're locked on." Peki said, as the missiles grew closer to Scaley. Scaley looked at the missiles, and as she moved her hand up, the missiles vanished before everyone's eyes.
Scaley sighed. "Projectiles are mostly useless..." Scaley said, looking at Peki.
Kutsuyo's eyes shot open, and they immediately changed to Kutsuyon's red and black eyes. Kutsuyon looked around, and found Scaley, and immediately jumped at her. "You're next, scale neck!" Kutsuyon shouted, with a bloodthirsty grin. Scaley's eyes grew wide with surprise, as she remembered all those times she heard that name. Within a moment, Scaley had her hand in front of Kutsuyon, a magic circle ready, and a huge beam of water shot out at Kutsuyon, causing her to fly back.
"That's a lot of water..." Kujo said, as she felt worried. Scaley began to breathe heavy from the nervousness she felt, she looked around at everyone, Niku, Peki, Utsu, and Kujo, they all stood still, but Scaley thought they were closing in on her. With a quick wave of Scaley's hand, she blew them all away, even blowing out Utsu's fake fire, then began to calm herself.
'That wasn't to target you... There's no way she could have known... It was just a coincidence.' Scaley told herself, but only half believing it.
"That water was hot!" Kutsuyon shouted, as she jumped at Scaley. Scaley's eyes went wide as Kutsuyon caught her off guard.
