Chapter 50 - Karma

Niku leaned against the bricks in their cell. "So?" Niku said, as she looked at Kujo.

Kujo looked over at Niku. "What?" Kujo asked, feeling confused.

"You doubted him." Niku said, as she walked over toward Kujo, who sat on the floor on the opposite side of the room. "I want you to, like, apologize to him when he gets here." Niku continued, feeling annoyed by Kujo.

"Fine." Kujo said, as she looked away from Niku.

"Ugh..." Niku sighed, as she leaned against the wall next to Kujo.

"Kujo..." Kumo said, as she sat in front of Kujo.

"Yeah?" Kujo said, as she turned her attention to Kumo.

"Do you... dislike Daddy?" Kumo asked, feeling worried.

"No?" Kujo asked, wondering why Kumo would think that. "I guess I just don't know him as well as you do." Kujo said, as she took a moment to think.

"Oh..." Kumo said, as she felt she understood.

"But, can you blame me for doubting he'd somehow come back?" Kujo said, trying to defend herself. "I mean, we literally watched him die..." Kujo continued.

"Yeah... I guess you're right..." Kumo said, as she remembered what happened.

The cell bars opened as a soldier appeared along with Polly, everyone looked up at them as Polly quietly entered the cell, and the soldier closed the cell bars then walked away.

"How'd your battle go?" Kure asked, hoping it wasn't as bad as hers.

"It was not so bad..." Polly said, looking lost in thought.

"You seem... different..." Niku said, feeling like Polly's acting odd.

"What is it that you mean?" Polly asked, giving off a weird smile as she looked at Niku.

"Maybe it was just, like, my imagination." Niku said, as she decided to drop the conversation, thinking that Polly might have something she doesn't want to discuss yet with the others.

"I am quite worried to think about how your fights may have completely went." Polly said, trying to get her mind off of whatever she saw during her fight.

"I tore a guy's skull in half..." Kure said, as sge messed with some dust and dirt on the floor.

"I don't really remember..." Kumo said, as she took a moment to think. "But it was cold." Kumo said, as she looked up at Polly.

"I caused an Angel to lose her way..." Leia said, as she began to look sad thinking about her fight.

"I just don't want to cause some else's pain..." Muma said, as she felt disgusted with herself about her fight.

"That's just, like, not something you can avoid, Muma." Niku said, as she stayed against the wall. "No matter what you do, you'll always be hurting someone." Niku said, trying to get Muma to understand.

"That isn't fair..." Muma said, wishing that wasn't the case.

"A lot of things aren't fair." Mae said, as she looked at her pale arm.

"Speak of the Devil." Kutsuyon said, as Kohp walked to the cell bars and unmuted it.

"Hello!" Kohp said, with an ugly smile.

"Wish it were 'goodbye'." Niku said, sounding annoyed.

"God, I love the way you act..." Kohp said, as he stared at Niku.

Niku gave Kohp a nasty look. "Ew..." Niku said, finding Kohp more disgusting than she already did.

"What do you want?" Kure asked, hoping asking him would make him leave faster.

"I decided to inform you about a few things." Kohp said, as he looked away from Niku.

"Then inform us!" Niku said, getting angry by simply looking at Kohp.

"Mae's match will be next, in only a few hours." Kohp said, as he looked at Mae. "And tomorrow will be a five verses five." Kohp said, as he took a look around the cell.

The girls all looke around at each other. "Which five?" Kumo asked, feeling worried that some might have to fight twice.

"The five that will participate are Niku, Kutsuyo, Utsu, Kujo, and Peki." Kohp said, as he began to stare at Niku again.

"And, like, why are you doing this?" Niku asked, wondering if she can negotiate anything else. 'Actually, maybe this is a good thing...' Niku thought, as she looked at Utsu. 'I'll be able to protect Utsu this way.' Niku continued thinking.

"Well, you'll be fighting a group of five, but they refuse to fight alone for some reason, so to save trouble, I've decided to just do a five verses five." Kohp said, explaining his reasoning.

"Ugh, whatever, I'm fine with it." Niku said, as she accepted it.

"Great!" Kohp said, as he turned around to leave. "I'll have a soldier escort you later, Mae." Kohp said, as he walked away.

"I assume you'll be fighting instead of Kutsuyo?" Niku asked, as she looked at Kutsuyon.

"Yes, I have to protect this body after all." Kutsuyon said, as she smirked and closed her eyes.

"Good." Niku said, as she relaxed against the wall.

Mae and a soldier stand in the room full of weapons for the fighters. "Just choose whatever you'd like." The soldier said, as he left the room, leaving Mae to choose something.

'I'm not skilled in any weapon..." Mae thought as she looked around at all of the weapons.

"Welcome back, everyone!" The announcer shouted, as he looked at the audience. "I'm glad you decided to come back!" The announcer continued.

"Yeah! It better not be too hard to see this time!" A man shouted from the audience.

"Now, let's not waste any time here, folks!" The announcer said, sounding excited. "We've decided to go with another one of the blue haired group today! Everyone, welcome Mae to the arena!" The announcer shouted, as everyone's attention went to one if the tunnels.

"That must mean I should go out there." Mae said, as she went through the tunnel, feeling nervous.

"Wooo!" The crowd shouted, as Mae came through the tunnel. "Make up for what the other one did, blue haired girl!" A woman shouted, hoping for a bloody match.

'I hope I'll remember to use this if I get attacked...' Mae thought, as she looked at a shield that was in her right hand.

"And let's welcome a very familiar face to this arena!" The announcer shouted, as he began to introduce Mae's opponent.

'There's so many people that watch these fights...' Mae thought, as she looked at the audience. 'Do people really like this?' Mae continued thinking as her eyes drifted around the audience and landing on the person who'd left the opposite tunnel. 'I wasn't listening, was I?' Mae thought, as she realized she didn't hear the announcer finish announcing her opponent's arrival. As the man walked closer, Mae noticed something about him, something that was the most peculiar thing to her. His hair was long and blue, his right eye was blue while his left was red, he wore a white suit and red bow tie, and he had gray dress pants with black dress shoes. 'This... can't be real...' Mae thought, as she felt dumbfounded to see such a familiar face. "pepper!" She shouted, as she began to be filled with joy and surprise. Mae began to run towards pepper, she dropped her shield and ran with her arms wide open, ready for him to hug her. But as she got closer, she realized that pepper still felt like he was an extremely far distance away.

"What's wrong?" pepper asked, as he noticed Mae stop to look at him.

"Who... the hell are you...?" Mae said, feeling horrified by the sight of this impostor.

"Wow!" The man said, as he felt impressed. "Most people don't notice so quick!" He continued.

"Answer me!" Mae shouted, as tears filled her eyes.

"It seens the battle has gotten a bit emotional!" The announcer shouted, as he sounded genuinely interested. "I always love a good drama!" The announcer continued.

"My name is Red." Red said, as he looked at Mae with a small glare.

"Why...?" Mae quietly asked, feeling like she's been messed with. "Why must you play with my feelings?!" Mae shouted, as she felt angry and sad.

"Woah! Calm down, little lady." Red said, as he held his palm toward Mae. "I can't control what I look like to you." Red continued, as he seemed to act like he tilted a hat.

"You accidentally looked like pepper?" Mae asked, finding it hard to believe. "Yeah, right!" Mae said, becoming angrier at him.

"No, I'm serious. Whatever I have, it causes my enemy to see whoever they love most when they look at me." Red said, trying to defend himself.

"I think I understand, folks!" The announcer said, explaining his thoughts. "Mae must have seen through Red's ability! That must mean that even an exact impostor couldn't fake the person she loves!" The announcer said, shedding a tear at the sight.

"Alright then." Mae said, as she whipped her face away of her tears. Mae walked back a little bit, and picked up the shield that she'd dropped. "Let's end this." Mae said, as she looked at Red.

"I'd rather not kill a little lady such as yourself... But my own ass is on the line, so I guess I gotta." Red said, as he began walking towards Mae, as she walked towards him.

"It looks like they've decided to begin, everyone!" The announcer shouted, excited to see what'll happen.

Red put his left hand close to waist, and then moved his arm to Mae's direction. Red pointed a finger gun toward Mae, and aimed it at her.

'What's a finger gun gonna do?' Mae asked herself, not understanding Red's plan. And, suddenly, Mae heard a loud 'boom' as if a gunshot had gone off. Instinctively, Mae put her shield up to her head, and she felt and heard something fly into the shield. 'But... there was no gun...' Mae thought, feeling puzzled. Mae looked to her feet and saw a bullet.

"Good job!" Red said, giving Mae praise. "You might make this fun if you keep this up." Red said, hoping to enjoy the battle.

'It doesn't matter how!' Mae thought, as she began to rush toward Red. 'I just know that he can shoot at me!' Mae continued thinking, realizing the details aren't important.

"What the hell?" Red said, as he saw Mae began to rush toward him.

"Ahhh!" Mae yelled, as she was about to crash into Red. Red looked at her as she grew closer, and moved right before impact. Mae turned around quickly so Red couldn't shoot her back.

"Is that all you can do?" Red asked, feeling disappointed. "That's what I get for expecting more from some dumb little girl." Red said, as he smacked Mae's face with the back of his gun.

"Gah!" Mae shouted, as she felt to the sand.

"And we have the first attack, folks! Mae's in the sand!" The announcer shouted, as the crowd cheered.

"Well, I guess I aught a' finish this, ain't I?" Red asked, as his finger moved as if it was pulling the trigger to a gun, but all that happened was a clicking sound, and no bullet came. Red tried again, but the same, and again, but the same. "Damn, you're one lucky girl, huh?" Red said, as he threw a pistol away from him. "My gun jammed right before I shot you..." Red continued, as he pulled Mae's shield away from her.

"So you did have a gun..." Mae said, quietly, realizing that she can't see if Red has any ither weapons.

"Now, I know there's a bunch of weirdos and shit here, but that feels too strange to be an ability of some kind." Red said, as he threw Mae's shield in the same direction he'd thrown his pistol. "But I'd like to test your luck, little lady." Red continued, as he grabbed her by the chin and lifted her.

"That... hurts..." Mae said, as he squeezed her chin.

"Then stop me!" Red said, as he watched her Mae hit at his arm. "Aaughh!" Red shouted, as he dropped Mae.

"It seems that Mae has gotten out if Red's grasp, and Red's arm seems hurt! What happened?" The announcer shouted, as he questioned what he saw.

"My arm's cramping..." Red said, as he looked at Mae. "But that's not gonna stop me from killing you!" Red said, as Mae started to crawl away backwards.

Tears appeared in Mae's eyes as she felt scared and unsure of what to do, but Red kept getting closer everytime she backed up, Mae knew it was only a matter of time before he got to her. Mae stopped and as Red got in position, she quickly kicked upwards, hitting Red in his testicles.

"Oooh! That one's gotta hurt!" The announcer said, as he cringed at the sight.

"You bitch!" Red squealed, as he dropped to the ground, holding his privates. Mae took the opportunity and flipped over to get up, but Red grabbed her foot, as she flipped. "Not so fast!" Red said, as he held her down

"Ahhh! Let go!" Mae screamed, as she fell back down.

"This is for my balls!" Red said, as he snapped Mae's ankle.

"AAAHHHH!!!" Mae screamed, as pain was sent through her leg. 'My foot! It's broken!' Mae thought, as she layed in agony.

"Ooo! I doubt that'll ever heal correctly, folks!" The announcer shouted, as he cringed again.

"Hahahahaaa!" Red laughed, as Mae cried in the sand. "You weren't fast enough!" Red shouted, as he stood up. "And now... I'll end this." Red continued, as he looked down at Mae who began to try and crawl away with her hands.

'I don't want to die...' Mae thought, trying to think of any way that she can get away. 'Not again...' Mae thought, as something clicked in her head.

"I wanna see you suffer more!" Red said, as he walked closer to Mae. But he noticed that Mae had stopped moving. "Did she die of too much pain?" Red asked himself, wondering if that's even possible. The a clear version of Mae suddenly came out of her body, and slowly floated upward.

"Did the girl die? Is that her ghost?!" The announcer shouted, feeling confused. "Can anyone else see this?!" The announcer shouted, as he couldn't believe his eyes.

"Huh, I guess that's that..." Red said, as he turned around and began to walk back to the tunnel he came from.

"Well, it looks like our winner is Red!!!" The announcer shouted, sounding excited. "This is his fifteenth win in a row, everyone! Give him some love!" The announcer shouted, sounding satisfied with the fight.

As Red walked away, he suddenly bursted into flames, and he started running around. "AAAHHHH!!!" He screamed, as his flesh melted off of his body.

"What the hell?!" The announcer shouted, not expecting this sudden turn of events.

Mae turned herself over, and leaned against a rock. "That's karma, bitch." Mae said, as she sighed in pain.

"Nevermind, everyone! It seems we've been tricked!" The announcer shouted, in surprise. "How did she do that?!" The announcer asked, finding it extremely curious.

Mae crawled to the shield that she'd previously lost, and lifted herself up using it, and she decided to use it to help her walk to the tunnel.
