Having left the others behind, Valentina was now alone in her wagon and left to her own devices for the remainder of the journey. She had planned to maybe get a bit of extra rest in but… without having Dahlia around it just didn't work. After about an hour of attempting to sleep, she finally managed it, only to wake up half an hour later. Maybe it was better than nothing, but to her it just cemented the fact that she wasn't going to get any proper sleep today.
So, like that the convoy moved onward. Occasionally they would stop at other small towns in the countryside and over time the numbers thinned until eventually, all that was left was the small collection of soldiers that would be on the front lines. A few hundred soldiers of decent strength had been brought forward in hopes of containing the baby taniwha threat, while Valentina and six others had gathered separately and were preparing for the main conflict.
