Chapter 21 - When the Tectonic Collided

"W-well." Hosua began to grab the handle above the window frame tightly. "We are two months away before seeing winter. Though, is there any reason why you're mentioning that now?"

"You know, I've just been thinking. If only that the foreboding Apocalypse arrived a year later." Yoo Hana' smile became a little bit melancholic. "Maybe we can get here together in spring, now that you've acquired a pseudo-sapient body. And, you know, maybe traveling around the world.

"Taking pictures on top of the Eiffel Tower, enjoying the falling cherry blossoms of the sakura tree on a picnic trip, experiencing the amazing culinary area within Italy… There are just too many things that we can do. I even planned to bring my family along if that's the case.

"It's just, not fair, I guess~"

Hosua clearly understood the feeling that was swelling inside Yoo Hana. She too, in fact, felt like the burden of humanity and the reward of gaining a sapient vessel was far more than equal.

"Yoo Hana, you don't have a strong intention to appease this so-called role that's given by the King in the future, am I wrong?"

"Hmmm~ it's more on the fact that it's an impossible feat to save everyone." Yoo Hana leaned back to the car seat with a rather intrigued grin. "Even for the current reality bending tool that we invented, it's just impossible to prevent the entirety of the Apocalypse from plunging a non-healable scar into the progress of our civilization.

"At most, I think that out of 8.6 billion humans on earth, we might only be able to save one thousand at best if we really conclude that the scale of destruction is truthful to the information you acquired from the TITER."

"Indeed, not to mention that most biomes of earth will be destroyed, making it harder in the long term to cultivate the lands, assuming that we succeed at preserving those tiny bits of the human race."

"Say, Hosua, how many H-dolls do you think you can produce until midnight?"

"1,272 H-dolls at best."

"It might be worth trying to send the Phenylethylamine models into the airspace of surrounding states and nations. See if we can increase the numbers of survivors by developing a research team using a squadron of them."

"A, they are actually meant for such an operation."

"Good, I guess the world will be fine under your brilliance if I'm not around."

"Don't say that, I'll cry if you're gone."

"Now, now~ why did you name the models with the name of brain chemicals, is what I'm wondering."

"It might be late news, but I've always been looking up to how things within the organic body operate." Hosua flustered as she leaned the side of her head to her shoulder. "Muscle tissues, blood cells, brain chemicals, I've grown quite a liking to such subjects with every research I made with the emulator embedded in that machine body.

"When naming the H-dolls, I spare no more thoughts on naming them after five of the brain chemicals."

"Well, I guess even we had some fun under the pressure of the future~"

"Bad things might happen, but it doesn't happen all the time. Good things might happens in-between—is the quote that I stole from the internet."

"I still find it hard that you kept this soul and consciousness thing all to yourself for the past 353 days." Yoo Hana chuckled.

"Don't blame me..."

Within the journey, they have stumbled quite a roadblock. So Hosua created some improved version of levitating scooters that were once commercialized and then never brought up again due to bankruptcy after a high demand from a market. In which, the company began taking corners, resulting in numerous accidents relating to the products which made the flying scooter get banned in many public areas.

Even Yoo Hana didn't bother to buy them because of how many of the newest models were prone to burning and crashing to the ground.

"We're flying!" said Aleph with a face filled with conviction.

"Ah~ it's been a while since I rode a working floating scooter~"

Hosua was seen puffing her chest with pride. "Well, after all of that experiments around the Reality Halo, things like graviton-related devices are easier to design and construct~!"

Aside from P-1 who were already on the site, the rest of the H-dolls were together with the group as they rode the same floating scooters.

A few minutes later, they arrived at the site with around a hundred meters of flat ground in high elevation.

""We have arrived!""

The H-dolls aside from Aleph were immediately given an order to secure this place into a base. Endorphin-1 immediately went to work along with Serotonin-1 who were analyzing the surroundings. P-1 continues to explore the airspace and both Dopamine-1 and Noire-1 followed along as the manpower of the teams.

While going to the lower levitation, Endorphin-1 had also scattered some of its security tools to secure the parameters.

"It is quite amazing that there are quite a mixed flora in this height of mountainous domain," said the laidback Endorphin-1, the engineer H-doll.

Serotonin-1 followed the conversation, "There are Lodgepole pine, western yellow pine, white fir, and some sugar pine. It made quite the materials for infrastructure. Albeit, the trees are fairly sparse, and it is intermixed with chaparral and oak savannah."

"Alright, so we need some of these trees, hmm?" said Dopamine-1.

"Around 62, for now. I'll ask our creator to supply us with the metals and other materials later." Endorphin gestured one of its finger claws diagonally. A second after, the tree in front of her fell to the ground with a loud thud with the surface of the unconnected bark coated with glowing orange. "I can't wait till I get the permission to build some defensive system akin to a naval turret, kekeke."

"My, my, aren't you scary, Endorphin-1," said Serotonin-1 as she eyed a rather peculiar space within sensor. "Wait..."

"What's the matters?" asked Dopamine-1, whose shouldering three pieces of log on its shoulders.

Noire-1 who was formerly admiring an isolated patch of flower noticed something.

With a skeptical grin, Serotonin-1 narrowed its eyes.

"I hope my prediction is wrong."

Meanwhile, on the main site.

"The sunsets are better than the images on the internet," uttered Aleph with eyes filled with hope.

Hosua nodded in aggrement. "You can guess why this spot in Los Angeles County is popular with hikers."

An amazing subalpine scenery could be found at many angles from the site. With the sun almost sunk within the late afternoon sky, the members of the Sinning Pioneers Project Team had all of their uncertainty filled with the fact that, what happens tomorrow happens tomorrow, and the moments of presents must be savored with diligence.

"Just like what they say~" Yoo Hana placed her arms on both of the amazed androids' shoulders. "The past is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a present~! Let's just savor this scenery for a while before we continue our own Apocalypse-rending project~!"

Immediately after, a report from the scouting P-1 had arrived to Hosua and Aleph.

Within the report, it mentioned.

"An unknown beast."

6 hours, 32 minutes left until the Apocalypse.
