The morning came and everyone was awake, set to go about their daily routines and businesses.
Brume called Nkechi out to go the little warm-up before the competition commenced, and his team also showed up at his place, his trainer and others in the technical team.
After the light warm-up, they all went to the venue where the race was to take place. It was a single-road race, no teamwork here.
On getting there, one of the organisers took a megaphone to explain the routes they were to take for the race.
"The race will start here at Sheraton Hotel, at Wuse Zone 4, where you all ride for 3.0 km until you get to Federal Secretariat Mosque.
"After which, continue to the Circular Road, running 4 laps around the Circular Road of 5.5 km each, making a total of 22 km.
"There you will continue on Kukwaba Road until reaching MKO Abiola stadium, turning around it and riding to Central Mosque at Herbert Macaulay Way, an 11.6 km distance.
