Xavier clicked his tongue when he saw he was trending again after the press interview and it wasn’t because of his movie, it was because Midnight didn’t want to work with him but the comment about his bold characters made him smile. And he also knew that if she decides to play any role, she would be able to pull it off. He was standing in the parking lot looking at his phone when he heard the sound of heels and looking up noticed it was Midnight.
Their eyes met briefly before her manager walked up to her, handing her a light jacket and whispering something in her ears. She looked upset with what he said although she was nodding her head in agreement. They were standing in the corner on the opposite side so Xavier was unable to make out their conversation. But he could read her and at the moment she didn’t look too happy although she tried to keep her expression neutral.
Her manager walks off and she looks up back at Xavier who didn’t look away- her dark eyes staring into the endless ocean blue eyes of his. It was a tempting and dangerous game that they were both playing and both of them were aware of the consequences yet they were unable to resist the delicious temptation of it all. He raises his eyebrows at her and she just rolls her eyes in response.
She takes out her phone and starts typing something because her manager wouldn’t like her talking to Xavier after what she said in the press release, it might add more fuel to the burning fire. His phone dings and he checks the text, his smug smirk turns into a wide smile.
‘Don’t flatter yourself by looking at the news. I said what you said about me years ago. I won’t be able to play the characters written by you.’
He types back a response and then looks at her. She looks at her phone and her cream cheeks heat up in response, then she glares at him before furiously on her phone.
‘And here I thought Midnight Hazelwood hated my guts but she still remembers what I said about her years ago when she was new and she believed me. That’s a lot of faith to put in someone you dislike, sweetheart.’
His phone dings and the text read, ‘Oh f*ck you Cavanaugh.’
He chuckles loudly and the sound was so beautiful that Midnight felt herself mesmerised for a few seconds. It was a very rare sight, Xavier Cavanugh wasn’t someone who smiled much let alone laugh out loud. His smile was always small and formal but here he was grinning like a little boy.
Then Xavier types in response, ‘Do you want to f*ck me?’
He was teasing her because her expressions were bizarre and hilarious. Her entire face turns red when she reads the text and she looks up at him. The atmosphere changed from all fun to something seductively dangerous and he saw her biting her lower lips as he grips his phone tightly in his hand. It took every bit of his self-control not to close the gap between the two of them and push her against the damn wall, kiss her so damn hard that the only name leaving her mouth is his. Midnight heart raced when she noticed the way he was staring at her, he wanted to devour her right at this moment and in all honesty if he did she would let him. She would let him destroy her over and over again but she shakes her head a minute later before going back to her van.
Xavier lets out a breath of relief when she leaves and then he realised that he was doing it again, breaking down his walls and letting her see that. How badly he was craving her, how much he desired her which is wrong on so many levels because he isn’t the one for her. One wrong move and she will be put in the danger list because of him. And that he is not going to allow it to happen even if it meant he would have to hurt her feelings really badly, once again.

Cavanaugh’s Tech Centre, Los Angeles
“Mr Xavier was seen flirting with this woman.” Levi said, in his usual robot like tone. He hands the tablet to an older looking man.
He had blue eyes and dark grey with shades of grey in them. Although he was in his fifties, he still looked younger for his age. He was dressed in a black suit with a cigar between his lips. “She is pretty.” He regards, “Who is she?”
Levi takes back the tab and hands it back after opening her social media page. “Full name is Midnight Hazelwood and she is a model cum actress. She is twenty-five years old and has been a model since she was seventeen but got into acting just two years back after graduating from a film school.”
Mr Ashton Cavanaugh had a slight smile on his face, satisfied with the good news. “But this article says that both of them aren’t on good terms with each other.”
Levi takes back the tab and with a very reassured tone replied, “It’s an article when Miss Midnight had just debuted and her film came out a few months after Mr Xavier’s. One of the interviewers had asked if he would be interested in casting the new actress who was making buzz to which he replied that she was incapable of playing even a side character in his movie. Ever since then they have avoided each other on red carpets and only exchanged greetings.”
Mr Ashton click back on the photo where the both of them were staring at each other, “Well, if looked at closely there seems to be some sort of sexual tension between them but then it could be just plain sexual feelings…we want to find his weakness…someone who will make him beg to come to us not some random chick.”
And even though Levi wanted to add some more things he didn’t because Mr Ashton looked bored and if he tried to press him further, he might say goodbye to this job. He had a family to look after so he cannot piss Mr Ashton off. He bowed his head once as a goodbye and walked outside the office. He knows that even though there seems to be nothing between Xavier and Midnight, there is a burning spark there waiting to blow up.
Levi just needs to be patient and pounce at the opportunity at the right time. And even though there is a part of him that looked after Xavier like a father but his own flesh and blood was more important. Once he is able to persuade Xavier to return back, he will take his daughter and wife to a faraway place, retiring from this position. He is aware how much he seemed like a selfish person at this point, but he was only human. His family was under constant surveillance, one wrong move and he might lose them forever.
