Chapter 2 - A bad king

Planet Mercia

Spring of year 643 on the continent of Bellokilt

Kingdom of MorningStar

*Knocks* *Knock*. *Knock

"Let them through, " a strong and stern voice that carried unimaginable power said to the guards on the opposite side of the door.

*Vooom*

It took two beings at the ranks of SAINT using almost a tenth of their strength to move those doors. If any other being were to see this they might actually pass out from sheer shock. Most kingdoms would be lucky to have 1 or 2 saints as generals.

Yet here they are as mere guards in a palace throne room. Serving a man who hasn't made a public appearance in the last 5 years after the death of his father the late king.

Walking through the massive wooden doors lined in gold were twelve of some of the most important figures of the kingdom.

"Why have you called for us Brother" called out a man in his mid-twenties. The man went by the name of Adam Morningstar, general of the Morningstar Army. He had black hair slicked back towards his back that was long enough to touch his shoulders. A tall build of 6'2 and looked like he was carved out of stone. Everything about his was sharp. His jawline, muscles, and even the very air around him.

All just to prove how trained he was.

"It's king now dear brother, you must not forget that when he took the crown he is to be referred to as King." said a man who looked identical to Adam in every single way except for his aura. He was Adams Mornignstars twin brother Dylan Morningstar. At the age of 15, he was undefeated when it came to war strategy and military tactics. He was very calm and calculative, no doubt to countless hours of training to make sure his battle-hungry twin doesn't beat him in their duties to the kingdom.

" I know I know, but he hasn't done a single thing in the last five years since he has taken up the crown. I just feel like as his brother I deserve to know the reason why he hasn't done anything and left everything to be picked up to us," responded Adam with a bit of anger spilling out as he finished speaking.

"does it matter if he did nothing, or if he did everything? he is our king, and if you feel any other way about it then you know what to-" before he could finish his words he was cut off by the same voice that came from the man on the throne.

"Enough dear brothers, I know of the promise I made. I know how much the kingdom has hurt in my absence. I call you here today, I call all of you here today so that we can bring our kingdom out of the darkness and corruptness that has plagued us for nearly a century." said the King who spoke with so much confidence that all the questioning, anger, and pity that was coming from the twins immediately vanished into thin air as they looked at there brother.

The man that they always wanted to be king, because they knew he would be much better than any of them could be. What they didn't catch but a few in the room did, was that while he spoke with confidence, there was also immense anger that sparked behind his eyes for a brief moment.

"You all might be wondering why I have called all of your here. The answer is simple, I have been hiding and strengthening the royal family and castle guards for the last five years. I have been practicing a new way to cultivate while improving my skills thanks to a gift given to our family.

I have personally trained like a madman, jumping into dungeons and fighting all the palace guards all at once. I've done much much more so I have the strength to protect all those near and dear to me.

I call you here so that the plans I made a dozen years ago can finally be put into action. I have culled every single spy and poisonous being that lived within these castle walls. That way I can raise my children in a way that they are not pitted against each other for the throne as every member has been since the founding of our kingdom. So I can focus on my kingdom, knowing that my family is safe.

I have also strengthened my castle guards to such a level that no being in this kingdom will be able to breach the front gate, let alone the castle.

I know you.." said the king as he pointed to his lifelong friends Feonix Tuckers, and Vale Von Silvers group who were standing behind the Morningstar brother and their wives."... I know you are wondering why you are here and the reason is simple. Remember what happened twelve years ago? Well, it's time to put that plan into action." the King said with a smile while letting a small bit of his power leak out of him.

Immediately everyone in the room felt the pressure from the king. As soon as they felt the pressure it disappeared as if it never existed but those who fought in terrifying dungeons and against stupidly powerful beings knew, they knew the king wasn't lying about his training as hard as he was.

If anything he was sugarcoating how hard his training was. Because the power he has is a power that has never existed in the Morningstar kingdom since its founding.

"Now should we begin with the gifts that I owe to you," the king said while taking a seat and pulling out a special ring with runes carved on it, and a sleek black rock carved and inlaid on it. " you all deserve a reward for your hard work don't you," he said with a smile

What the rest of the kingdom didn't know, was that what was happening in this meeting with the king and what would soon fall after would change the entire kingdom over the next couple of years, in ways that would push them into many conflicts with many others.
