In the evening time, Saeng was still at her home, working on some documents, she felt good working for long hours.
But after an hour, she felt a little dull, she went to the kitchen and made a full cup of cold coffee for her and tea for Yeong's mother, who sat on the sofa in the hall room.
She served tea with a bunch of baked fruit cookies to Yeong's mother, and Yeong at the sight of delicious cookies instantly grabbed many cookies and started munching them.
Yeong's mother asked him to thank her for the cookies she gave him.
She told her, " Mrs.Mun, It is not necessary as you have also given me so much, whenever I came to your house. It is just me returning the favor". She said that and went back inside the room.
Yeong's mom had a warm smile on her face, hugged her son, and told him, " Yeong-a, Take care of your teacher, she is sometimes numb, you need to cheer her up and help your teacher to be happy". Yeong hums and nods happily.
In another scene, where Si-U is staring at his sister and his brother-in-law holding their hands and sharing their fear and worries and his mind wonders whether he will be able to get to feel this experience and enjoy his days with someone special along with my small family. They all four would have so much fun and amazing adventures, and those moments will be painted in our minds.
Then he decides that he would visit the villain after 1 hour as he needs to, first of all, make sure, their home is wholly secured and safe for his family.
On the other side, Saeng is asleep, resting her head on the study table and many documents piled up near her face, then due to sudden breeze of air crashing into her room through the window, pushes the piles of papers making them scatter and fall upon the face of Saeng, still, she is deeply asleep, even after lots of paper files are flatly resting against her face.
After some minutes, Yeong's mom knocks on her bedroom door, but Saeng is deeply asleep, so she then came inside and saw the mess.
She arranged them and kept them beside her and placed a heavy object upon that pile and saw Saeng sleeping peacefully, she looked relaxed, which made her smile and she then caressed her head.
She then took a blank page out of the notebook present there and wrote down something and placed it in her hand and went outside her room.
After half an hour, Saeng wakes up from her long nap and notices a folded paper note in her hand, she opens it and reads the note, in which Mrs. Mun is expressing her gratitude and informing that she and Yeong have gone back to their flat as her husband has informed that he will somehow reach home at midnight, she also assured her to not worry as they will be safe and fine.
After reading this note, Saeng feels another rush in her body which made her feel somehow good and also nervous at the same time.
Then she remembers that she needs to visit somewhere, she puts the necessary things in her handbag, and then she carries her handbag and goes outside, wearing a light pink trench coat with a white colored turtleneck top underneath it along with faded blue jeans.
Then Saeng arrives at the location by walking for half an hour as there is no transport mode at that moment, she then slowly walks forward into the location, which is surrounded by trees, messy roads, old, broken materials, and items scattered here and there, and a thick layer of dust covering the pile of discarded items, some abandoned and old looking houses and some closed down shops.
As she continues walking, her feet were covered with a thin layer of dust, but she didn't mind, she was just staring at something.
Then slowly, she sees a blurred image of a building, when she reaches closer and closer, it is observed that it is a two-story building, whose half portion looks damaged and the other half looks decent.
She reached the building entrance, which was locked with chains with a heavy lock, she then unlocked it by taking out an old metal key from her handbag.
She then pushes the door open wide enough for her to enter inside and then closed the door and found herself in a dark pitch.
So, she took out her phone and turned on the flashlight, and walks inside with the help of the flashlight, she then stopped when she found a door, which was made of hardwood, and then she unlocks it by twisting the handle with force.
The door opened, and a wide room is shown, which was filled with solar lights fittings, and the whole room was bright, modern, and looked neat and clean, she walks inside, then she stands in the center, and looked at a stretcher bed located near the wall and a high tech instrument towering over the stretcher.
She walks slowly and reached to stretcher, she observed that the stretcher belts were damaged and torn, and the bed surface had scratches that didn't look human.
Saeng extends her hand and slides her hand over the scratches and leaned closer to the bed and observed the scratches. She also noticed something else, a hair strand, she picked it up with a tong (tool).
Then she placed that hair strand under a compound microscope, which was kept on the opposite side of the stretcher, there were some other microscopes as well, which looked a little different from each other.
The room was filled with high-tech instruments, a computer was placed just 1-2 meters away from the stretcher. The room looked like some kind of lab.
Through the microscope, she came to know that this hair was of a fox but the hair texture has a mixed percentage of human hair texture and animal texture, she then opened a wide wardrobe, which was not filled with clothes instead it was filled with many bundles of documents and files.
She then picks out some bundles and started searching through pages and analyzing the pages and then took out another pile of documents from her handbag that she have recently calculated and analyzed and also took out some printouts etc.
She then analyzes those papers and opened some files on her laptop and transferred them to the lab computer, she then wrote down some reviews, statements, and some mathematical calculations, which calculated some percentages and numbers and the result of the experiment.
Then another scene opens, where Si-U has already departed from his house and is on the way to Saeng's apartment. After a few minutes, he arrived at her flat, he rings the bell once but didn't get any response, then he rang the bell many times.
Then he felt panic and worry rising in his heart, then suddenly the door opens, through which Yeong's mom comes outside and informs him, " She went somewhere for some urgent work, I advised her to not go but she told me that it is necessary and more important than this mess. So, she went but I don't where".
Si-U looked lost in his thoughts after hearing Yeong's mom's statement, he thanked her for letting him know about her and she smiled at him and invited him inside but he refused politely as he need to find her to know whether she is safe or not.
Mrs.Mun smiles and mumbles softly 'Hwaiting' (Keep going).
Si-U nods and greets her goodbye and walks out of the building and searched for her in various places, where she could be found, but he couldn't find her, he still does not loses hope and kept looking for her in every place.
Then another scene opens, where Saeng is seen sitting in a room, which was quite big and located on the first floor of the building, where there were many bundles of chemical sets were present and many big noticeboards, where numerous research articles were clipped on the board, and numerous photos of varieties of animal species were also attached to it and many drawings of anatomical structures of human and animals and also some weird structured drawings of combinations of human and animal.
She sat on a chair against a large-sized table upon which bottles of chemicals were placed with labels pasted upon them, and she was wondering about something, she feels her body warm due to her heavy winter outfit, she takes out her heavy coat and placed it upon the table.
She then walks in front of the noticeboard and stares at the items pasted upon it, her gaze caught on a particular piece of paper upon which a drawing structure was drawn, which was of animal but had human structure and also was colored with realism, which looked like same as the creature in the news who were animal but had human features, then her gaze shifts to another paper, where the human structure was drawn but had animal features.
This all was never part of her plan but still, it is better than her plan, thinking this in her mind, her gaze changes into a determined look, and some kind of fire inside her.
She talks to herself," This plan was to make people aware of something and break something in them that will change their lives forever, she wanted to just break that moral and superiority façade of humans over animals, she doesn't want money, power, or anything.
She just wants to make them realize their mistakes and crush their façade personality, and she would do anything to prove this to the world.
She then recalls a flashback memory in her head, where a middle school student Saeng present in the classroom, attentively listening to the biology teacher, the teacher was explaining about the environment, ecosystem, living beings, etc. One paragraph in the science textbook caught her attention that was: " This earth is a place for every living being existing in this world, and each living being has a right and equal share of this world. No one is inferior or superior, we are all same even after differences".
At lunchtime, while eating her lunch, she noticed some students playing with a puppy, the puppy also looked happy with them, but then suddenly a student forcefully picked up the female puppy, and swings her up and down in the air, all students were innocently laughing, but she observed that the female puppy had a scared expression on her face, she then jumps out of the student's arms and fell hard on the ground, but then ran hurriedly inside the bushes.
Saeng heard the bell ring, and the students ran back to their classes, she also returned to her class.
During the last period, she heard a low groaning sound, which was audible to only her as she was sitting near the window and also because of her sensitive ears.
She tried to ignore it and pay more attention to the teacher, but she was unable to concentrate in class. Then she excused herself from the class by giving a bathroom excuse. She went to the bathroom and when she was returning to her class, she went behind the school and came near the bush, where that puppy disappeared.
She puts her hand inside the bush and pushes the leave and tries to search for the puppy inside the bush, but didn't find the puppy there, she then returns to her class.
After school time, while returning to her house, she noticed that same puppy whimpering in pain, walking on the street nearby the school, that puppy's leg seems to be injured as her one leg was twisted a little.
She rushed to that puppy and fell while rushing, she then picked up that female puppy in her hands. That puppy was frightened and clutched her arms in defense, which left scratches on her arms, but small Saeng didn't flinch at all.
Then she remembers something from a documentary, that her dad showed her, she softly caressed her back and then that puppy's whimper stopped, she became silent but she was still making out low pain growls.
She took that puppy to her house, and her mom became worried seeing her daughter hurt and in mess, then she narrated the incident to her parents, and they asked her to change clothes and clean up, she changed, then she treated her wounds on own, as she learned this through phone, which her dad bought on her birthday.
Her mom came to treat her wounds, but she was surprised to see that her daughter was treating her wounds on her own. Then small Saeng saw her mother standing, she ran to her and asked her about the puppy, then she took her daughter to that puppy, and her dad was bathing that puppy.
Then she ran to her dad and requested him to give that puppy to her after bathing her, her dad told her that after treating this puppy's wound in the veteran clinic, then you can play with her.
Then small Saeng said that " Appa (Dad), I was not asking to play with her, I wanted to take her to the clinic, and then return to her home, where she will learn to live on her own. So, Appa, can we take her to the clinic right now?".
Her dad and mom looked at their daughter with adoration at her thoughts. Then, her dad agreed and says, " Okay, Saeng-a, Come, we will go together to the clinic."
Then they went to a clinic and the veteran doctor was treating that puppy's wounds, and small Saeng was observing the treatment process being done by the doctor, her lights shone in curiosity, which was noticed by her dad and he smiled at this. He got to know what her daughter had in her mind.
After the puppy recovered from his wound, she returned to her home, the street, where she found her, that puppy became happy, when she once again returned to the street.
After many years, Saeng was 18 years old, when she joined her high school at Daejeon University and left her home at the same age she found a flat in her budget after searching for many days and, meanwhile, she did part-time jobs at the library and also sold some of her paintings that she painted till then, which gave her sufficient amount to survive and handle both her college fee and rental fee.
When she left the home, her parents were devastated as she didn't just move out, but she cut all her bonds with them. She made a clear-cut statement to them that she didn't want them to contact or look for her at all.
Their happiness walked out of their life when she left them alone.
Saeng while studying in college, she used to work overtime, and she used to complete her assignments and projects way before others as she wanted to give her time to build her dream slowly and steadily.
So, she used to work in the evening time in libraries, then slowly, she collected many books, reference science articles, biologists works and project web articles, and many more, to be able to understand the human and animal body better.
When she was in her third year of the doctorate, she felt sometimes burdened with all these studies and overload work and her project, so, she sometimes used to take a 2-3 days break, and then again continues her work.
Until now, she already found her place, that old building, which was more of like an abandoned building, slowly month by month, she arranged the room on the first and second floors to be hygienic and decent.
She arranged one room filled with high-tech instruments, which she bought through money by selling paintings, and another room in a chemical lab.
After graduating with a doctorate, she left the librarian part-time job and bought a cabin near the main road, where she opened a singing center, and then she also build a clinic, which was small but wide.
She used to work overnight for some months, then takes at least a 1-2 month break, which helped her manage and balance her life well.
This dream of hers was built slowly from childhood when she slowly realized after interactions with animals that she wants to do something and make people remind and realize that we all are equal.
After all, we are 'Mari-am'.
