Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

"...wake up!"

"Hmm.."

"...wake…"

" Hmm?"

"WAKE UP!"

The faint whisper turned into a loud yell of a thirteen year old, which woke the twenty year old Evelina up with a cry,

"AHHH!"

Panting for breath and sitting face to face with the young girl whose body she saw herself in moments ago was about to send her back into a deep sleep.

"Miss! Don't give up on me again!"

The young girl exclaimed, pinching Evelina awake.

"Ow-ow! Yeah I am awake!"

Evelina grunted as she rubbed the area where she was pinched.

She then slowly started to notice her surroundings.

The zesty scent of fresh lemons were mixed with the scent of wet grass. A vast field of moonflowers and the brilliant blue sky above gave the perfect feel of what she would call,

"Bliss." the little girl said, smiling faintly, "My name is Ava, welcome to our garden."

"Uh-my name is Eve and what do you mean by 'our garden'?" Eve asked, confused.

"Every soul in this universe has a safe haven," Ava replied, "This is mine."

"Then why call it 'our's' ?" Evelina asked.

"Well, interestingly your soul has a similar frequency as mine." Ava replied with a blank face, "Which would explain why my body readily accepted your soul."

"I -uh, um," Evelina stuttered, "I am not exactly sure what you mean but I am guessing you're trying to say I have transmigrated?"

"Precisely." Ava nodded, " We have both interchanged our souls with our bodies, resulting in our conscience facing the other's world. Currently, I have detached my soul from your body, for your world seems to be lacking in a few many things."

Evelina widened her eyes in surprise. Her face clearly read, "You can do that?"

"I have learned a few basics, you can find them in my subconsciousness." Ava replied, reading Eve's face. Seeing her yet confused expression, Ava added,

"My subconsciousness is left behind in my body. You'll have my thirteen years of knowledge imprinted in your mind."

For a while, Eve stayed still and tried grasping all the information she had just received from a kid seven-years younger than herself. After a while, she asked, "Why don't you want to return to your body?"

Ava's gaze went solemn immediately. She softly replied, "My world may look brighter than yours. But, the more the light, the larger the shadow. I-I have no will to fight the shadow. I have no one to protect, love or care for. So, unless I am a fool, I won't go back."

"Do you think I can make it?" Eve asked, after a moment's pause, "Do you think I can fight the shadow?"

"No," Ava replied rather bluntly, "The shadow has reached its peak already. No amount of love or power can fight it."

"Why would I need love? What exactly is the shadow?" Eve asked.

"The shadow," Ava sighed, "It's everywhere. People don't realise it, but neither did I. I was too late when I realised."

"Well there must be a cure. Whatever this shadow is, there would be a cure right?" Eve asked hopefully.

"Complete trust, purity and love, those are the cure."

Ava replied, "My world lacks them all."

"Well, so does mine." Eve shrugs.

"Not love. Your world has love and hope. Even if it's a little, they might help you." Ava replied.

"I am still clueless as to what's going on," Eve sighed, "but, if you wish to let me live your life, I might not be able to."

"I wish for nothing," Ava replied, "Your body won't make it , in your world. My body is completely healthy. I don't wish to return while you wish to live."

"It's true that I wish to live, but not someone else's life."

Eve spoke sternly.

"I am not asking you to live my life, Miss." Ava smiled once again, " You can live your life in my world. It's completely yours."

Evelina was speechless. She never experienced such selflessness in her life.

"Ah! We are running out of time," Ava said, looking up at the blue sky, aimlessly. "We better part now."

"Wait!" Eve cried as though she was just hit with the realisation, "What's your name?"

"Avalina Riverton." Ava smiled, "Now, farewell!"

"Avalina Riv- wait, what!" Eve exclaimed, but it was too late. Her vision started clouding. She shifted here and there but to no avail. Her body won't budge. She tried to push harder, when suddenly she felt the final push create a spring-like motion to bring her body back to reality.

A new reality she was gifted by a young little girl.

Having woken up with a jerk-like motion, she seemed to have woken up the person who slept by her feet.

Stirring awake a kid , no more than 12. Jet black hair and Azure eyes with a wheatish complexion. He wore a white suite, with a golden crest seated on his left collar bone. His cufflinks were made up of Azure gems while his tie adorned a red gem, thus being a mismatch overall.

"You are up, My Lady."

The young boy spoke with courtesy.

"Pardon my intrusion, My Lady. If you insist, I will take my leave."

"Stay."

Eve spoke up, abruptly.

The Chandelier wasn't lit properly, thus she couldn't say what expression the young boy carried as he slowly sat back down on his seat. All she could say was that the air around him was grim.

"What brings you here, Your Highness."

Eve spoke courteously.

It didn't take more than a second to recall who sat in front of her. The Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Solbrillar, the Main Lead of the novel "Elisse",

Azure Contreas.

A man known for his cold nature and strict principles.

He was loyal to his young wife for a long while, but never felt any affection for her. Thus, when he left for the academy, he broke it off with her. But it wasn't done officially until he brought in Elisse.

He didn't cheat, but yet , Eve felt like he did.

Because, as far as she could recall, the Young Avalina was head over heels for the young prince. He just never noticed.

"Father asked me to assist you, My Lady."

Azure spoke in an informative note. No emotions were conveyed through his words. It was as though he was made out of stone-cold marble.

"I am grateful, Your Highness."

Eve calmly spoke.

Her head felt heavy with the amount of things happening. Her soul as well felt unsteady while the last piece of Ava's consciousness had just faded.

No matter how calm she tried to be, she could hardly stay steady for any longer.

"I had a request, Your Highness."

Eve asked, with a slight tremor in her voice,

"I wish to return to the Riverton Estate."

The Young Prince flinched on hearing the request.

Yet, it seemed like he had already foreseen such a situation.

"This is something I cannot grant."

Azure replied, his broken-husky voice was captivating.

"But I shall convey your wishes to His Imperial Majesty."

"Thank you."

Eve smiled before closing her eyes again.

She felt like a burden was off her shoulders even though it wasn't truly so.

She felt strangely peaceful.
