The giant millepede had been killed and its valuable materials had all been tucked into their storage bag. Upon his victory, Ian face was gloomy. If he had knew, he wouldn't have trust what his master had said.
His body was currently filled with injury from the impact of the millepede poisonous venom. Although his skin didn't melt, but the pain was somewhat unbearable.
"Ha-ha-ha." Amos was laughing out loud. "Although, I told you I'll save you from danger, I didn't mean that you should rushed into the beast jaw. That's just an act off foolishness. You might as well count this as a life lesson. If you just listened to what people tells you, there's no way you're going to survive the wild. Note, the dangerous thing to be on guard against isn't the monsters in the wilds themselves but instead your fellow human. A lot of teams had perished due to the greediness of a team member. It's really hard to find a trustworthy teammate. And if you do, make sure to cherish them and do not take it for granted. Here." Amos threw a healing potion at Ian. "Drink that and let's get going."
Ian snatched the potion up and drank the content in the bottle. Soon, his body began to heal.
"Where are we going?" He asked after getting to his feet.
"A much quiet place. However, the beast there are much harder to deal with. I heard the leader is about to advance to the A level. Since we wouldn't be going in deeper, there's no way we would encounter the beast king." Amos spoke as they head towards their car.
"A beast king!" Ian exclaimed.
"Why? Excited." Amos pat Ian on the head. "Don't get too excited boy. We won't be meeting the real deal."
Still, Ian had adrenaline rushing into him. A beast king? That was a leader on its own. He wonders what day his strength would be able to take down a beast king.
...
Since their real destination was the swamp crocodile's territory, the car kept moving forward. The cars passed by several wandering beast. The beast didn't get closer as they were also afraid of the weird shaped rectangular monster that was moving.
Soon the whole surrounding was starting to turn misty. There was a white fog floating in the air, disrupting anyone from seeing what was in the further distance.
Tyron packed the car beside a huge boulder and everyone got down from the car.
"I think the mist had gotten a lot thicker than the last time we came here." Kai surveyed their surroundings.
"Hmm." Miley had also noticed the subtle changes.
Tyron touched his ring and brought out what seems to be a google.
"Wow. A night ranger!" Walker exclaimed. His eyes were glued to the google Tyron was holding. "The client must have been really rich to give out a night ranger as mission materials."
The night ranger was a glass type wears that could be worn. Most people who aren't adventures would think it was just a normal type of fashion glass. When the glass was released, it had caused a wave of din in the whole planet. Yet, only two of them was auctioned out. It was sold for a whooping amount of cash.
The whole glass was made out from the materials of a chaos beast. The lens itself was actually made from the eyes of the chaos beast. Chaos beasts were known to live in the void space. Their eyes had the ability to see through anything, including strong illusion. But giving a night ranger glass to capture an A rank beast king was still very extravagant.
Tyron put on the glasses, ignoring Walker envious gaze. "Make sure not to stray too far away from me. It's very much easy to get lost in the mist." After saying that, he looked around trying to determine the direction they would head to; before finally choosing a path.
Xue Yiran followed along. She had no problem seeing what was before her. Simply because there was a certain system to help her out. Not far from where they were at, she saw a lizard like beast lazing atop a small boulder.
Its belly was up against the sky. The color of it skin was constantly changing. And there was a white fog seeping out of its body.
[This is a fog beast. Fog monsters are one of beasts without rank. As a result, most mercenaries wouldn't hunt them because they had no actual value. Their only ability is their production of fogs and the talent to be able to hide from predators by changing their skin color to that of their environment.] Susu explained. [But they seem to have entered some truce with the swamp crocodile's race. They spread their fog to prevent people from entering the territory while they also get protected from their predators. It's like hugging onto a big thigh.]
'Splash, Splash.'
The ground was starting to turn muddy. They were almost reaching the cave area.
They finally arrived at the mouth of the cave. It was thousands of meters high in height. They were like ants in front of the formed rock. The inside looked hollow and dark, as if they were about to enter the mouth of a huge monster.
"Whoa. Is this naturally formed or was built by the swamp crocodiles." Jose was measuring the huge height of the structure.
"The inside is clear." Tyron took off the glass from his face. "Atlas, summon out your Lilly."
Atlas immediately knew Tyron was asking of him to do. "I've told you that my lily is meant for healing not for lightening the way." Amidst his complain, Atlas summons out his contract beast. It was a plant type beast. As soon as it appeared, the whole place brightened.
[Flower of life]
Class: B
Characteristics: A plant type elemental beast. Has a great affinity with the light element. Its leaves are filled with vitality. A touch from its petal could bring back an almost dead person to life. It produced a seed every ten years.
Skill: Golden ray, Healing.
Elemental Weakness: Fire Elemental Attacks
Innate Attribute: Light element
Contract Potential: Star Rank. 65% chance of breaking into the star class.
A healing plant-based contract beast that had a 65% chance of breaking into the star rank. Atlas was truly an expert in disguise. Having a contract beast that could break into such rank would made almost everyone envious.
Xue Yiran face was unmoved as she read the information about the beast. This type of monster was only used as support, since they had no ability to fight.
Currently, the plant was executing its skill. The golden ray light brightened up the whole area. Altogether, everyone entered the cave. The cave ground floor was very sloppy. A lot of water were acquired inside. But there was still some land to walk on.
They passed by some wet mummified carcass which they guess must have been some leftovers left either by the swamp crocodiles or some other beasts around.
"Do you think there might be some rare ores deep inside the stone." Walker was taking noticed of the weird shape of the wall.
"We won't know unless we dig deeper into it." Gael spoke as he also looked at the uneven wall.
"Perhaps we can come back after completing the mission. Who would ever have thought that there would be a huge cave like this around here. How come no one ever noticed?" Walker uttered.
'Swish.' The sound of flapping broke through the silent cave.
"Did you hear that?" Jose ear twitch slightly, trying to catch the flapping sound.
"Everyone looked up!" At the hearing of the voice, everyone looked above their head.
The flapping sound became more conspicuous.
On top of the cave, there were several bats lying upside down, their feet glue to the cave ceiling. This type of bats was known to live in dark areas. They were dark type beast. The body of this kind of bat were all black. One would face a lot of trouble when facing this kind of beast in a dark area. Among this, they all live in groups.
Miley sum that they must have walked into the bat homes. Dark type monsters are very vulnerable to light attacks. Which is one of the reasons why they wouldn't go out in the day. With the sudden brightness that immediately invade their home, they were bound to panic.
'Flap, flap'
Sounds of wings flapping rang everywhere in the cave.
'Chiii.' The blood bats were fully awake. The whole sky was covered in pitch blackness. The blood bats eyes were bloodied red. Their two fangs bore a parasitic poison that could turned one into zombie once beaten. Those two teeth could be made into a dagger but because the blood bats mostly live in dark areas, they weren't that sought for by mercenaries.
Most mercenaries would rather avoid places that impede their vision in other to avoid losses.
Now there was thousands of blood bats above their head. One could imagine the enormous number of materials they could get from them.
"Everyone, brace yourself up for a fight." Tyron immediately hollered as he swiftly opened the space receptacle. A gun fell out of it, landing into his hand. The X20 energy gun was very popular among long range combatant. It was known for its large area effect.
The surface of the gun gave the refraction of a slivery glow under the golden light. A buzzing sound came from the tip of its mouth as if waiting to be unleashed.
Mostly, energy gun is used by mercenaries when fighting against a flying type beast. The blood bats have a smaller body size, so it would be very much wasteful using the energy gun on then. But because of their densely population, such weapon was the best choice to use.
Xue Yiran and the others also brought out their weapon. Xue Yiran drew out the dagger that was strapped on her waist and slashed it at the bats that rushed towards her.
Pow! Pow! Pow!
Sounds of firing rang out of.
'Eek' Cries came from the blood bats as they kept falling one by one.
Gael also summoned out his poisonous flame bird. The blood bats were immune to poison, but they had no immunity against the fire attack that was launched upon them.
"Chirp" The poisonous flame bird cried out as it spread it's burning wings, incinerating the blood bats into ashes.
Thirty blood bats attack Xue Yiran all together.
[Host, upward]
There was a bat who had decided to sneak an attack above her head. A white dazzle light appeared in her palm. Xue Yiran immediately swung the palm out.
'Boom.'
Several bats were blown away. The impact of their body against cave wall led to their sudden death.
Xue Yiran had just use Skys' ability to execute that skill. It was one of the things she had learned in the virtual net.
'Gale wind.' Xue Yiran formed a sharp wind blade on her hand and threw it at the incoming bats wave. A lot of bloods bats were cut into halves. Just like their body, the blood of the blood bats was also pitched black.
The whole floor was covered in their sticky liquid and the smell was really suffocating. Seeing the loss of their own comrade, some of the smart ones hurriedly began retreating.
'Pow!' After blasting off the last shot, the fight was finally over. Everyone recovered their stamina before collecting the materials.
"I've searched everywhere, but there are no eggs around. Those beasts are really smart to take their offspring along with them." Ryker was dissatisfied that they couldn't get their hands on any eggs.
"The figures are already out." Walker had a watch counter in his hand as he relays the amount of their loots. "There are 50,000 blood bats tooth. Some had been burnt to ashes but the figures I stated are the numbers of materials that are good. Also, there are 2000 perfectly whole body. As for the inedible materials, they've been disposed of."
