"You killed him, Janice!"
Janice's heartbeat seemed to stop when she heard those words. A baseless accusation that had been brought against her since she came home in the middle of the night two days ago.
Janice's eyes blinked slowly, trying to steel herself. Then her gaze fell on Julian, a man who sat with a blank stare. He seemed trying to hold on to his emotion, just like Janice was doing.
"Janice was the only one with him that day! Janice killed him!" Callista shouted again loudly. Tears welled up in her eyes, revealing an expression of deep sorrow.
Meanwhile, Janice remained seated quietly. Trying to think about what really happened, she had to be accused with a nonsensical question right after the funeral, which was filled with tears of sadness. It's been two days, it's been two days since Janice had kept quiet every time Callista started making accusations, but now she couldn't hold it anymore. Maybe Callista will stop accusing her when Janice admits all her accusations.
"I killed him .." Janice replied in a trembling voice.
All eyes immediately turned to her. The cry of a middle-aged woman also sounded quite loud, then followed by her mother in her father's arms. Then less than two seconds later, Callista hit her in a frenzy. She grabbed her hair, clawed at her face, and kicked her in the stomach.
Janice didn't even get a single piece of self-defense. She received Callista's anger along with all the beatings and curses are spoken by her sister.
"Stop it, Callista! You can kill her!"
While everyone was busy with their cries, Julian came to pull Callista from Janice's mangled body.
"Let me kill her!"
"Stop it, Callista!"
Out of the corner of her eyes that were starting to close because she couldn't stand the pain in her body, Janice saw those eyes… those eyes that showed unspeakable sorrows.
Julian, he looked at Janice with sad eyes. He seemed to be in a lot of pain but couldn't express his suffering.
Then, for the first time... Janice regretted knowing that man. Janice regretted that in the end, she was the cause of Julian's suffering. Janice regretted that after so long ignoring her, now Julian's gaze was on her. Not to greet Janice's attention but to show the pain he was feeling.
