BOOOM!
The deafening sound of an explosion resounded within the garden of the dragon clan. Scattering around the area were various pieces of broken stones.
Using the techniques within the grimoire, Alan enchanted his physical body and punched forward. His fist colliding against a bolder!
"Amazing, this body enchantment could easily rival your spiritual body physique." Akane beamed in delight.
"... Yeah. The energy consumption is also on the smaller side." He mumbled as he glanced at the destroyed pieces of the bolder.
While the enchantment is not inferior to his spiritual body physique, the effects of the two were vastly different.
While using his spiritual body physique, his physical body is constantly nourishing by his spiritual energy allowing him to move with far greater efficiency and agility.
While on the contrary, the draconic armor only enhanced his physical strength and with the hardening of his skin, his defense is also greatly increased.
However, the spiritual body physique comes with a greater price as once the activation time runs out, Alan's soul would be exhausted from the constant release of spiritual energy.
"The two are vastly different from each other. However, in terms of effectiveness I think the spiritual body physique is far superior." Alan responded as he deactivated the draconic armor.
"Indeed. But this technique strengthens your physical strength to a terrifying degree. No wonder the grimoires are highly sought after by countless experts." Akane remarked, a slightly bewitching smile adorned her face.
"I wonder how effective it would be if I were to combine them both." Alan's emerald, green pupils shone as he suddenly thought of a crazy idea. However, "Ouch!" Akane suddenly swung her slender hand downwards, chopping onto Alan's head. "What was that for?" He asked as he gently caresses the spot where he was hit. Akane glared at Alan and said in a slightly cold tone, "Don't do something you might end up regretting later."
The corners of Alan's lips trembled as he sensed the pressure exuding from Akane's words.
Indeed, the burden of activating the spiritual body physique would multiply if he also activated the draconic armor as well as the consumption would double.
Even if the draconic armor takes very little spiritual energy supplying both at the same time with his current strength was rather strenuous on not only the body but also the soul.
"Ahaha... Yeah your right. I shouldn't get too carried away." Alan scratches the back of his head as he said that. Seeing that he was actually listening to her advice, Akane let out a breath as her delicate shoulder eased up.
Suddenly, her expression changed as she quickly became flashes of light and retreated back into his soul, once she senses the approaching presences behind her. Alan also noticed the familiar presences suddenly heading towards him and narrowed his eyes.
In the distant both Trisa and Suzu were making their way towards him with graceful steps. "Young master." Trisa called out to him once she was at a distance close enough to converse. "Big sister Trisa and big sister Suzu, is something the matter?" He inquired, tilting his head.
"We are currently heading into the market for groceries... We were wondering if you would like to come along?" Suzu asked, her voice as indifferent as always. "Hm, you're going shopping in the capital." Alan's emerald, green pupils shone fiercely as he nodded his head.
So far, he hadn't really had any chances to go out with his mother constantly keeping an eye on him, but now he had an excuse to leave the estate of the dragon clan. Trisa's lips curved upwards into a crescent shape as she said.
"Good, let's get ready, we will be leaving really soon."
...
Two hours later...
The rattling sound of the extravagant carriage wheels resounded as the carriage distinctive to the dragon clan left the inner zone of the dragon clan.
Inside the carriage, Alan sat alongside Suzu as he gazed out the window observing the many different sceneries outside.
As the carriage smoothly made its way through the streets Alan notice the looks of scorn and mockery some of the citizens were given them.
'I guess this is what happens when your clan lose a little bit of its status.' However, he didn't find it amusing at all.
The dragon clan was once a very powerful clan with his father as its head.
Back then everyone respected them regardless of whether they were commoners or not. Even those born from prestigious families couldn't look down on the dragon clan.
However, losing Luis dragon wasn't the only factor in the rapid decline of the dragon clan. After the death of his son, Cole dragon had not showed any impressive achievements in the recent years. His only focus was to avenge his deceased son.
"... Do you feel sad?" As his entire focus was outside Alan heard the sweet voice of a woman before him. Turning his gaze, his eyes met the gentle gaze of Trisa who was looking at him with both affection and tenderness.
Soon, Alan molded over her words, "I do feel a bit sad." He answered honestly. However, despite that his eyes flash with determination.
"But soon they will all know why the dragon clan was once the strongest. If they have forgotten, then all I need to do is remind them!"
"Hehe he... You seem determined." Trisa brought her hand against her lips as she chuckled pleasantly.
"I like your determination, but such a goal won't be easy to achieve. While the dragon clan was pushed aside, the sun clan and the moon clan had been increasing not only their strength, but also their influence." Suzu muttered with her eyes closed from where she sat.
"Even if it's an unachievable dream I will make it reality!" In the past, he had done many unbelievable things and had faced many challenges that everyone thought was impossible to overcome, this time was no different.
[Fufufu... I love when you get fired up!] Akane beamed.
After moving quite some time the carriage finally came to a stop. The driver promptly got to his feet and opened the door for Alan. Although he still hasn't gotten use to the role of a young master, he decided not to mention this as he calmly stepped down.
As he left the carriage the sounds of various individuals resounded around him. Alan curiously observed his surroundings as his eyes wondered around.
Despite his long years of extensive experience and knowledge, he couldn't help but feel like a small bird that just left its cage and seeing the outside world for the first time.
Seeing him like that Trisa chuckled.
"Young master please stay close. It can get really crowded out here, you don't want to get lost." She said as she took his hand.
Alan was slightly taken aback when his hand was suddenly grabbed and blushed from embarrassment. "W-Wait, big sis I'm not a child!" Alan protested in displeasure.
"Fufufu... Are you perhaps shy to be seen holding big sisters' hands, perhaps?"
"I... I'm not shy!" He retorted. 'Damn it! I'm the overlord, Ellard! Why am I being treated like this?!' He really wanted to scream.
[Hehe he... Ever since you were reborn you've been showing a lot of emotions you would usually never show in your first life... I think you are being influenced by Alan's innocence, or should I say your innocence?] Akane scratches her head in mild frustration. Even she didn't know what was happening anymore.
In the past, if someone had casually held his hand without his permission, he would've turned them to ashes without any hesitation at all. But now for some reason Alan didn't feel like doing so.
"It's a strange sensation." He mumbled to himself. "We should go, it would be a pain if the market became overly crowded." Suzu exchange some formal words with the driver of the carriage before she came and addressed them curtly.
Once they had entered the store, Alan widen his eyes when he saw how vast and spacious the interior of the store was.
It was extremely easy for anyone to get lost here. "We should go, the meat from that place is really good." Suzu said as she stepped inside the store. Trisa quickly followed along while bringing Alan by the hand. However, at that moment.
BOOOOOOOM!
A loud explosion occurred a few blocks away from the store which instantly caught Alan's attention.
...
Meanwhile, shortly before the explosion shook the capital.
Inside a store that sold various fruits and vegetables, a lone girl stood alone staring into the vast space.
The woman wore a beautiful black dressed that was woven from the finest silk, her long glossy black hair was tied into a one-sided ponytail that hung from her back.
Her bright onyx black eyes shone brightly giving her a sense of innocence.
However, the elegant air around her showed that she was someone of great status. She was Elena, the woman who was destined to be Alan's future wife.
She had come shopping together with a few of her attendants, and had become curious when she saw a few stores that sold various ornaments that got her interest and ended up getting lost along the way.
"Sigh, how did it come to this?" She mumbled in dejection shaking her head. After observing her surroundings carefully, she wondered away from the store and moved through the sea of crowd to make her way back to the inner perimeter of the capital.
"Ugh, excuse me." She said as she was pushed roughly through the crowd. "Tch, watch it, kid!"
"You're in the way!"
Her small delicate body was thrown around as she bumped into various commoners who were also moving through the sea of crowd.
Elena fell to the ground on the side of the street as she was roughly pushed aside.
However, no one paid her any heed as they continued on their way, Elena sighed as she got to her feet.
'Tch, these foolish commoners, I should punished them for their insolence.' She thought inwardly, never had she been treated so roughly before, her anger was evident on her face. However, instead of lashing out, she merely heaved a sigh of frustration.
While she was shoved around aggressively, she notices her purse had fallen from her hand at some point.
Elena rushed to her purse in a hurried manner and quickly picked up all her lost belongings before heaving a sigh of relief.
However...
"Little Missy, why don't you hand that over to us for safe keeping?" As she was about to leave, she heard a rough voice from behind her back.
Turning towards them she saw three elderly men wearing old torn up clothing approaching her with mocking smiles of their faces.
"... Why would I need you to hold my belongings? I don't have time to waste on imbeciles like you." She spoke in an arrogant manner, not bothering to even humor them.
However, the three men looked at her with ugly expressions on their faces when they heard the ridicule in her voice.
"Hahaha! For a brat with such a pretty face you actually have a very sharp tongue, don't you? However, let me show you what happens to those who don't know how to show respect to their elders!" One of the elderly men said as a smirk appeared on his face.
"It makes sense she would be so haughty and narcissistic, judging from her clothes and demeanor she must be the young miss of some rich bastard. She probably doesn't know what kind of situation she is in right now." Another of the elderly men responded.
Elena furrowed her brow in displeasure as she glanced at them, her onyx black eyes hid a smear of coldness as she observed them with indifference.
"Do any of you need something from me? Like I said before, I don't have time to waste." She once again repeated, hoping they would leave her alone.
Unfortunately, it didn't seem like they were willing to leave quietly, as though noticing that much Elena heaved a sigh of irritation. "Such clowns." She mumbled under her breath.
"We will leave once you hand over that purse of yours." One of the elderly men said, his lips upturned. "... Then we have nothing to talk about." Was her response.
"Don't you think you are being a little too nonchalant despite your current situation." Another elder said unamused.
"Should I feel fear dealing with a bunch of scums who doesn't know their place?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Ahaha! Good, good, good, let's see how long you can keep running your mouth, you little brat!"
One of the men exclaimed as he rushed towards Elena and slashes with his dagger in his right hand.
Elena's eyes narrowed as she saw through his approach, as the blade of the dagger came within reach of her figure it was easily parried by the flat side of the closed feather fan inside her hand.
The man's eyes widen slightly in a show of surprised when his attack was easily blocked.
One of the men closed in on her from behind, pulling out his sword from its sheathed before swinging the blade towards her!
However, sensing the incoming attack Elena promptly lowered her upper body effectively evading the blade a hair's breadth away from piercing her body. Without any delays she plunged the side of the fan into the man's torso knocking him away.
"Gah, ugh." His body rolled helplessly across the ground as the sword was sent flying through the air before falling to the ground with a clattering sound. Elena snorted through her nose as she opened up her fan and said not hiding her disdained.
"Usually, I would ask for your head for your insolence. However, I have decided to be lenient to you low lives since I have something I need to do. If you know what's good for you, I suggest you leave my sight before I turn you all to ash."
"... Tch, you!" The elder yelled in rage as he lunged towards her!
"Tsk... How foolish. Allow me to show you one of the secret arts from my sun clan! Reduce my enemies to dust, blazing sun!"
A magic formation appeared before her outstretched hand and a golden sun emerged from it engulfing everything within the surroundings!
BOOOOOOM!...
Soon, an earth-shaking explosion shook the outer perimeter of the capital!...
