The next morning Hattie sat in her bedroom for a few minutes until she decided to venture out into the kitchen. She knew other people lived with her, which was something she was decently comfortable with to a point. When she came to New York, it was mainly for college, specifically NYU.
She at first didn't want to come here based off the nightmares or the day dreams but she was talked into it. She was, unfortunately, a person who did everything she was told. For some reason it always scared her from speaking her mind. She always felt that she had to be perfect and any thoughts she had didn't really mean anything. She was a woman that people looked up to because of the things she did when she was not in school. Such as volunteering at her local church or even possibly because of her family. Sometimes she felt like she was just made to be a puppet for her family.
In a way, it was like Hattie had her own Cinderella moment. However, she didn't have a hansom prince to come rescue her but a scholarship to NYU, a school she didn't want to go to but was pushed into it by her older sister who wanted to live through her eyes,
Hattie went through the door frame of the kitchen. She was quite pleased by the kitchen despite it being as ancient as it was. The walls all had that old wood charm to them and the cabinets had a white finish that made the light from the windows bounce off everything.
A tall man stood, however, in her way as she was admiring the kitchen.
"oof" Hattie said as she bumped into the back of the guy.
"ouch" he said, rubbing the back of his head in order to ease the pain.
"I'm so sorry" Hattie said as the man turned to her and she was caught off guard by the color of his eyes. Almond-colored like in her dreams. She couldn't look away from his eyes and didn't catch a word he was saying. For some reason she felt like crying and just running into his arms. It felt as if her soul had met him. It felt weird. As if she knew him but she didn't, yet she also felt the need to know him.
"Excues me" he said, and waved his hand in front of her face. Despite the same feeling he had in his chest, he pushed it away. He didn't want to stare into the woman's deep blue eyes because he had someone else with him right up stairs. He felt the need to hold her. To take her hand and run away from the woman he fell in love with upstairs.
"I'm sorry what were you saying?" Hattie asked as she was brought back into reality. The man did not look very pleased. Not at all, but he did have a weird look in his eyes. He didn't look happy yet, then again she did quite ran into him.
"I said you should watch where your going" he said harshly. He went the other way compared to where he was headed.
"Eros" a feminine voice called out from up the stairs, a room right across from Hattie's room. For some reason, it felt like her heart was breaking at the sight of this random guy going up the stairs to a woman. She felt the need to cry, but because of what was the real question? Why did she want to cry? Why did she want to run into his arms?
