Chapter 2 - 002 Country life

At this, the old woman became less angry. She rolled her eyes and muttered something to the man as they walked to the side, then she called out to Susan, "Susan, let's do this today, I'm going back to see my son and I'll deal with you tomorrow, and that name San Tie, the runaway monk can't escape the temple, see where he can hide."

As he spoke, he pulled the man outside and glared at Susan and her daughter as he made his way out the door.

As soon as they were gone, Annabelle's face lit up. She took Susan by the hand and said, "Mom, it's okay, how's your son-in-law? A few words scared them off."

Susan took a hard look at Liu Chang, who was barely thirty years old, about five foot seven, dressed in a blue suit, and with a somewhat stoic and serious countenance. His kind of temperament is very incongruous with this small village, it is obvious that he is urban, quite cultured.

Susan smiled at him and asked, "Are you married to Annabelle?"

Annabelle beat him to it, "We haven't had the wedding yet, but it's registered."

With that, he glanced at Liu Chang with relief and happiness on his face. This husband was her pride.

Susan's eyes fell on Liu Chang's face. Liu Chang replied, "Yes, Auntie, Annabelle is right, we have been registering for a while."

Susan was relieved to hear this, she was most afraid her daughter was being played.

She looked at Liu Chang again, satisfied. Look at her daughter. She's only been in town six months, and she's changed. Long, shoulder-length hair, permed and fluffy. The denim ensemble showed off her toned figure. chest high, as if to break out of a garment; Ass curvy and round, inviting crime, nothing like the rustic girl who'd come out the door.

Hey, why are you dressed like this, not afraid of being talked about in the village? Never mind that times are different now, but the village is still very conservative. Surprised and worried, Susan let her beloved daughter and son-in-law into the house. Susan couldn't relax at the thought of the horse family and her son's fate.

Once inside, Susan led them to the West Wing. Her house was a three-room, terracotta shingle. Westinghouse used to be for her children, and since her husband's death, she has also moved to Westinghouse, giving her son the East Room to sleep in.

Liu Chang looked around the room. It was simple, a large kang with a wall of fire at one end and a large stand at the other. On the glass of the cabinet were paintings of Mammon and carp skipping gantries. On the floor against the wall is a dressing table, then look at the kang, covered in beige kang leather, above some squares and circular spacing patterns. It was all new to Liu Chang, who had never left the city in his life. When I used to look at the countryside, I only saw it on TV and in novels. I didn't feel much. I really felt it when I came to the countryside.

Once seated on the edge of the bed, Annabelle smiled and pulled something out. There were toiletries, clothes, pants, skirts, and plenty of food and fruit, all of which were only available in the city.

Susan was dazzled and couldn't help but ask, "Annabelle, this stuff costs a fortune, doesn't it?"

'Not much money'

Annabelle glanced at Liu Chang and said smugly to her mother, "It's all your son-in-law's money.

Susan looked at Liu Chang and asked, "Liu Chang, what do you do in the city?"

Liu Chang sat next to Annabelle respectfully and replied, "I design advertising for a company.

Susan wasn't sure what advertising was, so she nodded.

Annabelle knew her mother didn't understand, so she explained, "It's the people who design the ads, and when something goes through, they pay the price."

Susan asked, "How much can I get for this design?"

Liu Chang replied, "Hundreds to thousands."

Susan started and sighed, "That's a lot of money, if you design one to sell in a day, it will come out in a month."

Liu Chang chuckled at that, but he didn't. Annabelle couldn't help but burst out laughing and said, "Mom, that's not how it works, by the way, where's Big Sis?"

Susan's face warmed, and she knew she was an amateur, so she answered her daughter's question, "Your oldest sister isn't off work yet."

Annabelle asked, "Is she coming home tonight, little sister?"

Susan replied, "It's not Sunday, she's not coming back, she's usually staying at your aunt's house, she talks about you every time she comes back and wants you to come back soon."

Annabelle smiled sweetly and said, "Is this little girl thinking about me getting her something to eat?"

Susan smiled back and said, "Still young, sixteen years old and growing."

Annabelle made a noise and said, "You timid girl, you must be prettier, you'll have to find someone big in the future so we can follow."

He glanced at Liu Chang, who just smiled and said nothing.

Annabelle added, "Mom, I just saw my brother at the edge of the village.

Susan asked quickly, "Well, did he get far enough away to let anyone catch up?"

Annabelle sighed, "Hey, is he really a fugitive? What are you afraid of, just fight, good man do good. Besides, that boy deserves a beating. What's wrong with the mayor's nephew? The mayor needs to be reasonable."

"Keep your voice down, it's hard to be heard," Susan instructed.

Annabelle smiled and said, "Mom, tell me, where did your brother get that motorcycle?"

Susan frowned, "Where else? I didn't buy it for him."

Annabelle let out a whimper and said, "Mom, how can you spoil him so much? He's lost so much money gambling, and he's about to lose us all."

"If you don't give it to him, he won't do it," Susan said helplessly. "He said he won't gamble after he gets his motorcycle."

Annabelle asked quickly, "So did he change?"

A look of disdain. Dogs don't change shit, she thought.

Susan raised an eyebrow and replied, "He hasn't gambled all week, working in the fields with me."

Annabelle nodded, "That's rare, I guess I was wrong about him."

If he loses again, he won't even be able to save his motorcycle. I still owe the helpers money, and I don't know how to handle it since it's coming up in the next few days. This one didn't fight and took the pay too.

Annabelle turned to Liu Chang, "Third brother, why don't you say something?"

Liu Chang smiled and replied, "I'm listening, it's interesting to hear."

Susan took one look at the little couple and stood up from the edge of the bed and said, "You have been sitting on the bus all day. You are hungry. I will cook for you."

Annabelle rolled up her sleeves and said, "Mom, let me help you."

Then asked Liu Chang, "What would you like to eat?"

To which Liu Chang replied: "Anything for you, anything for me."

Annabelle smiled, "You're easy to get rid of, come on, show me your room."

With that, he picked up Liu Chang's laptop and headed for the East Room. Liu Chang followed suit.

Annabelle dropped him off at the East Room and went to help her mother in the kitchen.

The East Room was much the same as the Westinghouse, except with an extra TV. It was a seventeen-inch black and white TV, and it was refreshing to see such a "vintage" Liu Chang. It was the kind of thing that could take his thoughts into the distant past, as if time had been turned back.

Li Chang would like to see a picture of her family, because he heard Annabelle say that each of the three sisters is more beautiful than the other, like flowers. I never saw one when I turned around. Maybe they rural people don't like taking pictures, he thought.

Then his cell phone beeped, and Liu Chang's heart raced at the sight of the number. All this time, he had been avoiding this man. One of the reasons he and Annabelle had come back to his mother's house was for distraction and to see how beautiful her sister was. Two, Annabelle wanted to get pregnant. He returned as soon as he received the message from his mother. Another reason was to avoid him. For this reason, he took a special leave of absence.

But when someone calls, does he answer? Don't answer it, you'll regret it. Take it, maybe you'll feel more remorse. He hesitated, but chose to answer. As soon as the call went through, a woman's delicate voice said, "Liu Chang, please come back. I forgot all about that. What do you care? Rest assured, I didn't tell anyone."

Thank you. I don't want to go home for a while. You take good care of him for me. When it's time to go back, I'll go back.

With that, he hung up the phone. Because he really didn't dare talk to her again, and once he did, his guilt grew.
