. . . he could not stop a corner of his lips from lifting to form a small smirk.
Haruki stopped waiting for the man to do exactly what he could guess was going to happen with the look in the man's eyes.
Hiroshi, without a second to rethink his decision with the several hours he had in the man's house to think about what he wanted and his feelings for the man, closed in on the small distance left and reached for Haruki's head without warning.
He lifted his hands and caging Haruki's beautiful face, he tilted his head and planted a kiss on his lips. He did not stop as soon as Haruki patted his lips. Haruki let the man do what he wanted until his back touched the wall and the man's hands went to his waist.
Without hesitation, he bit on the man's lips and heard the man's groan but that did not stop the man until he tasted blood. The man released Haruki and took a step back shocked by Haruki's action since he was the same person who let him kiss him for so long without stopping it.
He touched his mouth and looked down at his fingers which were stained with blood. He lifted his gaze to look at Haruki. Haruki no longer wore the smirk he wore, the smirk that provoked Hiroshi beyond rational thoughts to kiss Haruki without prior warning.
"I have a guest," Haruki said calmly before glancing behind at the person Hiroshi had not noticed earlier.
Hiroshi cleared his throat as the blood in his mouth suddenly became sour. What was Haruki's lover doing here? He had not noticed the man when Haruki walked in.
"I smell food," Haruki murmured nonchalantly as he walked into the living room.
"I made dinner. I will reheat it," Hiroshi said as he could not afford to glance at the youngest man in the house or he feared that he might find it difficult to hold back from showing the man the door.
"I have had dinner but I think I should be able to eat a few mouthfuls more," Haruki murmured as though talking to an overly dedicated chef. He walked to the dining table and made himself comfortable as he waited for Hiroshi.
His timid lover found a place for himself in the living room trying to make himself smaller. Haruki raised his head to meet Hiroshi's gaze before he said, "Prepare a set for him."
Haruki wanted to express the anger raging within but the last thing he wanted to do was acknowledge that something went out of his control. Hiroshi made himself comfortable in his house enough to prepare dinner for him and even wear his clothes, he could only guess what gave the man the guts.
Since they were not alone and the last thing he wanted was to lose control of any event, he had to act as though everything was in control. He did not want the young man in the living room to overthink their relationship, especially with the risky move Hiroshi made at him at the doorway.
None of them could ever know that all these events went beyond his control regardless of what the outcome might be. He might have lost control at the beginning but he was determined to control everyone's action and reaction from this moment.
It almost took Hiroshi forever to respond, "Okay, I think the meal will be enough since you have already eaten dinner." He could recognize the coldness in Haruki's eyes and he knew that he might have made the biggest mistake in the pursuit of a lover before he even began.
Haruki was purposely being as cold as he could drawing a line between them. That was bad news for him. Even worse Haruki did not send his lover away even when his actions had spoken for themselves. Haruki was treating him as though he was one of his lovers and this was what he had been determined to prevent.
Was it over? It hasn't even begun yet. It was all his fault, if only he had held back regardless of how hot and handsome Haruki looked as soon as he walked into the door, he would have seen Haruki's lover. This was the worst timing ever.
With a smile that he hoped was as sincere-looking as intended, he placed another plate on the table and served the meal before taking it upon himself to call the young man from the living room.
The young man lifted his head and met his gaze shocked that he was invited and did not move an inch until Haruki called from the dining, "The food will get cold".
The young man hurried to Haruki. Hiroshi watched how the young man seemed to fear Haruki. It seems because he had seen Haruki in a vulnerable state, he could not bring himself to fear him as much as it seemed everyone else did including his dad.
He got to the dining table to see the lover sitting where he wanted to sit and without any hesitation despite how much he wanted to pull the young man up from the seat, he sat down on the other side.
He had intentionally set the lover's meal away from Haruki but he just happened to be the one who gets to sit there. He began eating as soon as Haruki did and wore a look of approval at the taste. He could not hold back a smile as he enjoyed the meal watching Haruki eat.
Haruki went to his study almost immediately and Hiroshi was left to clean up with the help of the little lover who seemed wise enough to help after all, he had just eaten a free meal.
"Thank you for the meal," the young man appreciated sincerely before adding, "It was delicious".
Feeling good about the young man's compliment and remembering Haruki's lack of appreciation, he decided there was no need for him to be coldhearted to the young man. He nodded and said, "It's good that you enjoyed it."
Haruki was away and it was inevitable that the two of them would feel awkward around each other. Hiroshi felt the awkwardness the most as he knew Haruki had not invited him even though the man had not made it clear to him and he could not find a reason to remain but he could not leave.
He did not want to leave the young man with Haruki knowing what was going to happen between them and he could not leave since he felt it would be right to let the host know his guest was leaving first.
With a tired sigh, he began walking to the study to inform Haruki so he could leave. He found Haruki leaving the study and the man calmly met his gaze. He tried to know what the man had in mind as he did not move his gaze from those obsidian eyes.
"Do you want to leave?" Haruki asked. Before the doctor could respond, Haruki continued, "I think it's too early to leave."
