Everyone seemed tense with an underlying fear, Delve was especially scared not letting the Nest out of his sight, while Vore was staring at the Nest with a different feeling burning in his heart.
After Vedd explained the mechanism of the bombs he then handed me four of them, the plan is to get close start the bombs then run away... hopefully fast enough.
- "What is that?" I asked pointing at what seemed like a small long mortar, Vedd simply replied- "You'll see... this is our thing."
After strapping the bombs to my belt, I then walked to the edge and then I took a deep breath, a second later two thin sharp and almost invisible wings spread to my sides.
I jumped and within two seconds I was already flying through the sky.
The air pressed against my body like a current of water, but despite that my speed only accelerated, as I look forward I could see the giant Nest that almost resembled a world wall.
This gigantic structure was simply breathtaking, by just looking at it the air stops going to my lungs, and I can hear my heartbeats in my ears.
Slowly but surely I was getting closer and closer to the Nest, eventually I could see a land devoid of trees, there are smaller plants though.
Those plants are important to burn down the massive wooden structure, which is most likely made of wood.
Until now no locust ever noticed my presence or they simply ignored it, the thought of making enemy of such a creature is simply terrifying.
After what felt like hours of flying through the air, I finally slowed down and landed, I wasn't particularly close but I was close enough to start an arson.
I took off the bombs and stationed them in distance from each other, that distance was mere meters, then I lit up their long fuse-thread and then I immediately jumped up and flew away as fast as I could.
This time it took me less than a second to start flying right, and within seconds I was accelerating exponentially, well... it seemed that way to me.
And then a thunderous explosion rang through the skies, but since this was mostly fire-packed explosion there were no shockwave.
The fire already reached the Nest within one second, and in that second the locust understood what happened.
Unfortunately for locusts they don't have a way to stop arsons, their best and only way of stopping the burning fire is by making a barrier or cutting the burning section from the rest of the Nest.
Which they probably are doing right now, and the other thing they'll do is to kill me.
As I flew through the air suddenly something flew past me, the locust flew so fast it crashed against a tree and immediately turned into ragged meat.
I understand as long as I flew above the forest they can easily target me, slowly I flew lower and lower and now flying between the trees.
I glanced back and OH GOD! A massive swarm of darkness was following me, the locusts didn't even care about crashing into trees.
I still can't feel fear, but I feel extremely anxious at the moment, slowly but surely they'll eventually eat me.
Suddenly I changed my way of flying, I flew directly towards a tree and landing on my feat, I then immediately jumped off of it and all that without slowing down.
And towards another tree, I landed prepared then immediately jumped off, from one tree to another, my line of movement probably filled with extremely sharp turns.
But...
The swarms of locusts kept going with unbelievable speed, the sound of breaking wood spreads through the skies, the swarms are trying to even cover the forest from above it as well, the sky slowly turned darker and darker.
"Avatha!"
I now hold a black rifle glowing from the inside, as I flew I reloaded it by just pulling the side-feeding mechanism, then I aimlessly shot somewhere as I glanced back.
It did kill one but that's nothing, the swarms kept going faster and faster, now I'm sure they are eating the trees that are in their way.
Before I knew it, I lost footing on one of the trees and found myself falling down, my heart almost stopped... was that fear!?
Before I reached the ground I tried to slow down, but the fall still hurt unbelievably, I rolled a while before I could stand up.
I immediately grabbed my rifle and took aim, the lower parts of the forest near the ground have no locust going through them but only for now.
I remembered my belt, moved it a little and turned invisible, that might help a little.
The swarms covered the sky already and the world turned black and gray then it turned to almost black.
Slowly one by one, tens of locust are now moving down, I didn't want them to find me so I didn't stay in place, with my long legs I ran forward towards Vedd and the rest.
They might be elves but the locust have a more important target at the moment, so they did not fear being a little exposed.
More and more are now dwelling the ground in search for me, the light might be obstructed but my eyes can see through it naturally although not exactly the same.
I was running as fast as I could reaching almost the speed of a car, I was barely able to dodge the trees in my way, but slowly I could see the light from a far.
At the same time I could see the ground almost completely covered with locust, the sound of my footsteps covered with the deafening sound of thousands of wings, my smell disappearing in the thousands of different scents, my presence covered with darkness and the eye-pearl of invisibility, I was sure they will never find me...
But, a locust suddenly was directed flying towards me...
