Chapter 21 - 21 - Evidence

Later that day, after James got dropped off and David drove home.

James waited in their nerve center and was about to go over the video footage when the guys came back.

"So, did you get anything good?" Adam another crew member inquired while Zach and Billy came into the nerve center with him.

"Only 1 spirit box voice, I'm about to go over the video footage. " James replied as he worked on plugging the camera into a computer and bringing the video up on the screen for them.

"Before we even got into the house we saw a shadow figure move past a window, unfortunately, I wasn't recording. " James explained his experience.

"Woah, you weren't even in the house and you saw a shadow figure with your own eyes?"

Billy questioned while the crew listened with a surprised face.

"Yeah, I'm about to look at the video, I'll go over the things I experienced when they happen in the video with you guys. " James said as he pressed play.

"Alright, let's see it. " Zach said curiously as he watched the video begin.

When the video got to the point when he captured the spirit box voice, The crew immediately knew what the voice said.

" "I am", it's clear as day." Zach asserted as James paused to loop the voice.

"Yeah, it has a full vocal tone; it sounds like someone is right next to you." Billy was amazed at how clear the voice came out.

"Just wait. " James said in anticipation of when he felt he was touched.

James played the video again and it got to the point where they saw the camera jerk and got turned around.

"I felt something pat my shoulder here, I almost shat myself. " James explained while looking at the boys and said embarrassed.

"Wait, go back to when you turned." Adam said while his eyes focused on the screen.

James did what he said and curiously went back to see what caught his attention.

After replaying it everyone saw a mist form and shoot at James.

"Look at that dude. You see that mist." Adam says and points at the screen.

"Yeah, it's almost human-shaped too. " Zach noted as Janes looped it.

After that, they went through the rest of the video and didn't find anything else.

"What do you think, James? Should we move this investigation?" Zach asked as he looked to James for his opinion.

"To be honest guys, the energy I felt as soon as I walked into that place can't be compared to here. I was out of breath as soon as I entered that house because it felt suffocating." James explained

"I want to investigate there longer. I was there for an hour at best and I saw a shadow figure, got a class A voice, got touched, and we got that mist on video." James continued as he counted on his fingers while listing what they got.

"If we can bring more gear, maybe we can get more." James finished in excitement about getting more evidence.

"Alright, do you have their contact info?" Zach asked.

"Yeah, I got it on the way back." James replied.

"Then give them a call and see what time is best for us to meet with them to go over what we do." Zach ordered and Janes went right to work with a phone call.

...

Earlier after David and James left.

Jack who had checked his status was restlessly walking around because he just needed a bit more to level up.

'I can hopefully get one level before the investigators come and then maybe even get enough experience to level again from the fresh blood.' Jack thought full of hope.

Not long later Jack heard someone at the front door so he went to take a look.

He saw that Sarah and Angelica came in with Sarah's hands full of groceries.

Sarah made her way to the kitchen and started to put the groceries away while Angelica went to the living room to play with her toys.

Jack was watching Sarah and thinking about how to scare her to level up.

'This will spook her good." He thought mischievously

He checked his energy and saw that he had regained just enough energy for his idea.

Jack walked next to the counter where the groceries are and focused on his hands.

Sarah who was putting food in the fridge turned to get and put away the next item when she saw a box of cereal she got for angelica float towards her.

Frozen in fear she could only stare as it got closer to her and stopped before falling to the ground.

'Come on, I'm just trying to help.' Jack sarcastically said to her in his head.

Sarah woke when the cereal hit the floor and put her hands on her head.

"Jack, thanks for the help." She mumbled as she rubbed her head in frustration.

She realized that he was helping her but it was still scary to see something float toward her with no one in sight.

Jack ignored her annoyance at being frightened and checked his status.

'Good... good... just a little more.'

Jack sinisterly thought.

It's a shame he used all the energy he regained so he can only do something tonight.

With not much else to do with no energy, he absentmindedly watched Sarah doing some chores.

Sometime later David came back and Angelica ran to hug him before they joined Sarah in the kitchen.

"How did it go?" Sarah asked David.

"Good I think, I was able to talk to the investigators and I brought one of them here to do a short session to see if our house was as active as I said it was." David explained

"After the session, James one of the crew members said that they will talk about it and they will give me a call and we can talk about it more then." David continued as he let Angelica down and sat at the kitchen table.

"What did they do for the session?" Sarah asked curiously.

"He just started recording in a camera and used this speaker thing called a spirit box that allows us to hear voices easier."

David explained what James did during the session.

"Did you guys get anything?" Sarah asked.

"Yeah I heard Jack say 2 words through it and I think I saw him in Angelica's window when we were entering the house." David replied

"By the way was Angelica's curtain open before you left?" David asked when he remembered the incident as he spoke about it.

"No, I don't think so." Sarah tried to remember if it was but she didn't remember it being open.

"Jack must have opened it. I wonder why." David said wondering why Jack would do that.

Unknown to him it was simply to mess with him.

After the conversation died down David's phone suddenly broke the silence and started ringing.
