I stopped her car when we got to her apartment. An involuntary sigh escaped my nostrils, I didn't want her to go up, then I would have to return my lodge, alone.
She opened the door on her side and got out, I guess she didn't want to wait a little. Or maybe, she was just tired and wanted to go have some rest.
I also got out of the car and followed her as we walked up the stairs. She was hurrying up the stairs, I had to stop her. I knew she shouldn't be running on stairs in her condition.
"Don't." I told her and saw her frown.
"Carry me up then." She said and wanted to continue but I stopped her again. She made a sad face so I sighed and picked her up.
"Yayy." I heard her jubilate when I carried her. I laughed shortly.
"If you want to be carried upstairs, you should have just said so." I told her but she just put her arms around my neck and smiled while looking at me, no words.
We got upstairs and she alighted from my arms, taking out her key from her purse and opening the door quickly. Did she really want to go in and leave me so bad?
She went inside without saying goodbye, I just stood there, surprised.
"Jerry? What are you doing, standing there like that? Come inside." I heard her. It was then I saw that the door was left open.
I laughed at myself, I was overthinking things just now. After I walked in and locked the door, I turned and saw Ann naked. There she was, standing in the middle of the living room with nothing on but her panty.
"Come have a look," she urged me to come to her and that I did. Now, I get why she was very much in a hurry to come up, she wanted to show me her baby bump.
I smiled, for some reason, it didn't feel weird to see her naked, I knew I could hit that whenever I wanted, so I wasn't as aroused as before when i saw her.
I went to her and stood so close, looking at her stomach to see but I saw nothing. I sighed.
"There's no bump, Ann, you are just excited." I shook my head.
"There is. I knew you wouldn't see it with all that plenty clothes I had on before, it's why I took them off and you still can't see?"
"It's just your regular stomach."
"No! Look again." She pressed on and I just sighed.
"Ann..."
"Hold on," she said and moved a little distance from me."Can you see?" She asked and I just looked at the normal looking stomach again so I could tell her that there wasn't a bump but then I saw it... there was a bump, she was right.
"Wow." I smiled in awe after I saw it.
"I know right?" She bit her lips.
I went to where she stood and surprisingly, I could still see it, I guess it couldn't be unseen after you've seen it once. I squatted in front of her, so I could touch it.
"Does it hurt?" I found myself asking her.
"No." She shook her head."But I get a lot of backaches lately, I don't even know why, the other women at the gynecologist's office who complain of backaches are usually six to seven months gone."
"Does your back ache now?" I stood from my squatting position to ask her.
"Yeah." She sighed.
"Do you want a massage?" I saw her eyes light up with joy when I asked that. She nodded vigorously. I smiled.
"Let's go to the room then." I held her hand and led the way like I was the one who owned the place.

Past 11 pm.
A cab stopped me in front of my lodge. I hoped Dylan would still be awake else I would have to wake him up to come get the entrance gate for me but then, luckily for me, it wasn't locked when I got there.
When I got upstairs, I took out my phone, ready to call him if I knock and he didn't open the door because it was locked from the inside.
I knocked thrice, but didn't hear a noise from our room so I dialed his number. It hadn't gone through when the door opened. I quickly stopped the call and entered inside.
"Sorry if I woke you up," I thought I should apologize.
"Yeah, I'm glad you did. I slept off while reading. Did you see the timetable yet?"
"What timetable?"
"For the semester, it's out."
"Fuck, it's out?"
"You didn't know?" He looked at me with his eyes squinted, he didn't have his glasses on."Oh, I forgot, of course you don't know. These days all you ever care about is Ann."
"What date is fixed for the first general paper?" I asked, ignoring what he just said.
"I don't know, you have a phone, use it."
That's what his reply has been like lately, annoying stuff.
I checked to see for myself and it was scheduled to be in three weeks time. I sighed with relief. Dylan made it sound like it was scheduled to commence in the next two or three days. Three weeks time was a lot to prepare with.
I took off my shoes and threw them to a corner, I wasn't going to shower, I just wanted to close my eyes and sleep but a sharp ring from my phone disturbed that.
I ignored it at first but the second time it rang, I decided to check who it was calling. It was my sister. The moment I saw her name as the caller, an unknown fear gripped me because I knew she would never call me unless it was something too good a news or a bad, bad news.
