Chapter 6 - Six: Monday Lectures.

Dylan and I came down from the taxi. It was Monday and I had been indoors the whole weekend. I was gonna be attending my first lecture, all freshers were. It was a general lecture for all new students. Math 101. This shouldn't be hard, I was particularly good in math, wasn't the best math student in highschool but I was okay.

This would be easy for Dylan too, I mean he wanted to be a mathematician, he had to be very good in math.

We got to the lecture hall, it was up huge. A lot of students were seated already, made me wonder if we were late but the time said 8:14 am, and it was just 8:02.

"I heard the maths professor is very strict, so no one wants to be in his bad list, that's why everyone is here early I guess." Dylan said while we walked up the side ramp looking for where to sit.

"Here." I saw two empty seats and I turned to Dylan to let him know. I tapped him because he seemed not to have heard me, he was looking at something.

"Dude." He finally turned to me but looked back to what he was looking at before, I think he wanted me to have a look. I didn't want to at first, our seats could be taken but he insisted and I looked at what he was looking at, at the back.

It wasn't something he was looking at, it was someone. Someone I knew I could remember and someone I was surprised he could remember. It was Ann.

Sitting at the back, amongst other persons around her, I could see her distinctively. Her legs crossed, she was on her phone. I would ask myself what she was doing here, but it math 101, a general course.

"Shit." I muttered. I couldn't let her see me. What if she was mad about how I left that morning.

"You're gonna be seeing her a lot, I can feel it, don't bother hiding." Dylan said chortling.

"Haha, very funny."

"But seriously, don't avoid her, everything happens for a reason, I mean, she could have chosen not to come to this lecture today like many other persons, but she did and you know the reason? to meet you." He said, his every words falling off his mouth with confidence.

We sat on the seats I had spotted.

"I can't meet her again man." I couldn't.

"Why, you didn't satisfy her that night?" He grinned mockingly but I didn't smile at his joke.

"It was supposed to be a one night thing,I don't wanna meet her again, what am I gonna say."

"Whatever sensible thing comes to your mind?" Dylan shrugged. " His here."

"Who?"

It was the professor. He did look stern, dressed sternly and spoke sternly too. He didn't greet us, he just started his lecture. Did he expect that his name was already spread among the new studs like us, not to bother to even introduce himself? I mean, I've heard about his likes and dislikes from the other guys who sat in the taxi with Dylan and myself, and I knew his name, but I thought he still owed us an introduction to his first class with us.

I looked back to see if I could see her from where I sat. She was no longer on her phone, rather she was listening, I should be listening to the professor too but I wasn't. I turned back to professor Wade's teaching.

After the class, we had some assignments from professor Wade, it was bulky but it was easy too; just differentiation of functions. After the professor left, many of the students still hanged around, maybe they didn't have more classes after now, but I did.

I took a keek behind and she was discussing with some other girls, her friends maybe. It was my perfect time to leave while she was distracted.

"Soooo.....you plan on hiding from a girl for the whole of your first school year because she's probably gonna be in all the math classes you'll be having, unless you plan on skipping math lectures?" Dylan asked while we ate lunch at a fast food restaurant. I stopped chewing.

"If possible.....you can tutor me on whatever professor Wade teaches." I continued chewing.

"You are not serious, are you?"

"I said if possible." I clarified and shrugged. No way I was serious, math was important for my course, not very important but it was important.

"She probably doesn't remember your face, you know right?" Dylan laughed after he drank some water."This is why I don't go to parties, late night parties especially."

"I didn't think I would see her again, considering how big this university is, it's almost like the universe is working with my parents on this! You know, like to teach me a lesson of some sort."

"I don't get, explain more." Dylan seemed confused.

"My mum, she's actually against premarital sex and all, she's not very religious but she just thinks that the first person one has sex with is meant to be the only person that you plan on repeating it with."

"Was your dad her first?" I heard Dylan asked and I almost choked on what I was about to swallow.

"I don't know man! Don't ask me that, jeez!""

"What?? I just wanted to ascertain something."

"What exactly do you want to ascertain, asking me that?"

"Well, you said she believes in sexing with just one person for life right, I wanted to know if she was able to achieve that, that's all."

"I don't know, maybe. Now I feel like throwing up."

Dylan rolled his eyes.

When we got back to our lodge, there wasn't much to do, just professor Wade's assignment, the other lecturers didn't have anything for us to take home.

Dylan was back at his table, solving, while I just laid in bed, going through my social media. I just didn't feel like solving my assignments yet, maybe before I slept tonight.

I won't lie, I have this temptation to ask Dylan to just help solve mine too but I won't do that; for my own good.
