Chapter 8 - Karma

"Galen, have you seen Master Christian?" A voice chimed.

Looking over his shoulder he noticed Aspen with a look of concern on his face.

"No, why?" Galen asked him.

"I have been away slightly due to a mission and came back and noticed Master Christian was nowhere in sight!" Aspen worried.

"I hadn't seen him after we took a walk through the market place...Apsen this town isn't huge so where could he have gone?" Galen asked.

Aspen became quiet before he gawked at Galen sighing deeply. Galen suddenly remembered how in the mansion Christian could barely be found by his own men.

"Christian is pretty good at hide n go seek..." Aspen said annoyed.

"Maybe you are right and I have been dumb for no reason this whole entire time, but can I use your help?" Galen asked.

"Oh! After the grief I caused you I will do anything to repay my debt!" Aspen replied.

Aspen smiled at him before nodding in response to the boy's request motioning him to follow. The two walked in silence until they reached the gate on the other side of town.

The two guards stood moving their spears to block them from moving forward as Aspen approached. Galen looked up at the man feeling uncomfortable standing between him and the guards. They were about the same height as Aspen, Galen only reaching halfway to their shoulders as they blocked his way.

"Asking to allow access to the South Tower!" Aspen demanded.

"Wait, aren't you the secret house of fallen spirits?" One shouted.

The man pointed to the symbol on Aspens cape that Galen had never noticed before.

"I am." Aspens reply made the guard seem confused but nodded.

"My master recently became lost in this town and I seemed to have lost him...by chance have you seen a blonde man walking around here?" Aspen asked.

"No, sorry," the other guards said.

"I see..."

"What the fuck is going on over here?!" A person shouted.

Galen realized he had heard this voice before and slowly turned his head towards the source. There in front of them stood the girl who he had met at Unity's lab and angry as ever with her arms crossed.

He immediately recognized face, but was surprised she was wearing something completely different from what he expected. She wore a sleeveless blouse, which stopped just above her hip. Her shorts showed off her legs, which were covered in tattoos.

Her hair was pulled back into a tight twintails and tied at the base. She wore red lipstick and eyeliner that gave an intimidating impression. She wore large combat boots that reached below her knees. And there was an odd metallic ring on each finger.

"Karma why are you here?" Galen asked.

"To do my quest?" She smirked.

Handing a slip of paper to the guards proudly they moved their spears allowing her to leave the way she came. Once she passed them they began to close the gates behind her and turned to return to their post.

Once the gate closed Galen and Aspen turned to find Karma sticking her tongue out at them both.

"Do your quests and check your phone idiots!" She yelled.

"But there is no connection!" Galen shouted.

"If you did your dailies then you would be able to use a reacher idiot!"

Aspen became outraged with anger as he stomped his foot onto the ground and began throwing rocks at the gate yelling profanities. Galen followed suit, although with less fire power and more rage. It felt like forever before the gate finally began to open again revealing the same group from last time, except they were all dressed in black leather gear.

"Oh right! We need to go through here! Please let us go!" Aspen announced.

The guards said nothing else allowing them to pass without anymore trouble . Galen looked up to Karma whose eyes widened.

The cloaked man ran at full speed towards Karma throwing his hand up in the air invoking his weapon which flew straight at the girl. With a scream, she disappeared into thin air and landed next to him Galo and Aspen stared at each other before running to the spot. They searched for any trace of her, yet found nothing.

"How?" Aspen questioned.

"Up here dumbass!" She screamed.

Holding tightly in both hands her grappling hook she was using to reach the higher platform. Karma climbed up on the platform landing right between the two boys. Galen glared down at her while Aspen laughed and shook his head at her attitude.

Galen stood as Aspen still fumed about their encounter with the guards.

"Wait, Karma I could use your help!" He said.

They stopped turning to him, "Why don't you get someone else to help you then." She said angrily, "you're not special. You'll never be."

"If we get any loot in the South Tower you can take it all!" Galen said.

Karma snorted looking at Aspen for approval, "Fine, but only because I won't want to carry the weight of two dumbasses!" Karma said.

Karma gave one last glare at Aspen before following in the other direction they could see a large spiraling tower in the distance they viewed it as the sun glared directly on it and casted a long shadow.

[Welcome to Kald]

Galen noticed his connection back and messages popping up one after another the notifications nearly froze his phone as Karma looked up at Galen with raised eyebrows.

"Newly risen towns are dead spots so you will never get a connection, but doing your regular daily quests will give you rewards." Karma explained.

"By chance did you see a blonde rich kid in there?" Aspen asked.

"I saw no other travelers, but you two." She nodded.

"I see...let's just complete the tower for Galen so we can come back."

karma tapped her feet impatiently waiting for the boys to finish up. She couldn't understand why Galen had chosen today to try to complete a task.

"Let's complete your dumb task…" She said.
