"I almost overstayed my welcome huh?"
Shade spoke to nobody but the vast emptiness that surrounded him, leaning on the remains of a destroyed building. The Void was similar to the realms of Heaven and Hell in terms of power, but there were several major differences defining each one.
The Heavens reached up above the clouds, showered in golds and whites, their towering castles expanding over the horizon, welcoming the rising sun, whilst the residents of Hell basked in the suffering of the souls, forced to work until the end of time, surrounded by nothing but fire and the faint outlines of grand mansions in the distance.
Shade still remembered how almost 300 years ago, he watched all of hell break loose in the place he called home. Centuries ago, The Void was a lively realm, bustling with voidals of all ages. However, on the faithful day 3 centuries ago, the demons attempted to overthrow The Void.
Unlike what the demons predicted, they were outsmarted and pushed back into the realm of Hell, and when it was on the brink of destruction, the realm of Heaven decided to wage war with The Void. They claimed it was because the balance was being disrupted between the realms, which led to The Void defending their home from two different enemies. Whilst The Void's army was fierce, it was outnumbered heavily, which led to it being annihilated by the remaining army of hell and the army of heaven. The war ended with both heaven and hell imposing a restriction on any being attempting to leave the void. That if they exceeded an hour outside their realm they would die of strange causes. Of course, even with the war over, almost all of the beings in the void were slaughtered by the two armies. Now all that was left were ruined buildings, ones that years ago stood tall and proud, recalling the voidals' crushed glory.
'Right, might as well get Alyssa some weapons' Shade decided as he pulled out a clear orb, crushing it. It began to glow, before blinding him with white light. With that, he teleported to the market operated by 'Trader'. The market was nothing special to Shade, as he had seen it time and time again. It was a large black building that stretched out for miles, with vendors who had full masks on to avoid revealing their identities, to prevent them from getting hunted down by angry customers looking to take their anger out. "I'd like to purchase a few different weapons" Shade told the vendor as he thought of which ones."What material?" The vendor responded politely, smiling at Shade. "I'd like a rapier, longsword, bow, and two daggers, all made of shadow soul stones" Shade replied casually. The vendor stared at Shade dumbfounded for a moment, before his eyes darkened in annoyance, "Sir, are you sure that it's within your price range?"
The vendor scoffed, as the cost for those weapons was insane, and it was highly unlikely he had the money to pay for them. That was until he was Shade snap his fingers and a large bag appear. Shade tossed it onto the table in front of the vendor "This should be enough, no?" he spoke in a disinterested tone.
"Y-yes, yes, it should be hehehe" The man greedily stared at the purple coins spread out on his table. "Good" Shade acted as if the massive amount of coins he had was nothing, not even bothering to get the change. A couple of moments later the vendor returned from the portal that he owned with multiple weapons. Each of the weapons had what seemed to be a dark aura around them as if they were weapons from hell. This paired with the weapons being completely black in colour made them give off a sinister aura, that would definitely scare off any thieves thinking of stealing them.
"Each of these weapons has been forged with two hundred shadow spirit souls" The vendor boasted proudly, glancing at Shade to see what he thought. A few moments of awkward silence passed as Shade simply stared at the weapons, as if he was analyzing every detail about them, before he sighed and looked at the vendor "Now listen here, I will give you one chance to go back and bring me real weapons forged of the same quality" Shade began emitting an aura of power that made the vendor flinch in fear.
'Shit! Shit! I fucked up' The vendor couldn't help but freak out as he ran back into the portal to get the real weapons. 'As usual, the vendors are trying to rip people off again' Shade sighed as he thought to himself, watching the vendor run back into the portal.
After waiting for what seemed like an eternity the vendor returned. This time the weapons which looked the exact same had a massively different feeling when Shade looked closer at them. It was true power. Nothing more, nothing less. These were the real weapons that Shade asked for. Shade walked towards the counter and grabbed the weapons from the vendor. "Next time don't try to sell me weapons made of corrupted soul stones" Shade advised the vendor, who nodded nervously before Shade began to walk away.
It had been a couple of hours since Shade had left Alyssa to rest in the apartment by herself, and during this time she thought about why she wasn't in shock that she had lost her father. After all, it's not natural to be perfectly fine after what she just experienced. After a long time of contemplating Alyssa gave up and decided to just ignore it as she needed to figure out what's next for her. What was she to do? Train? She wasn't working towards anything as she had nothing she desired. Try to live a normal life? That was a no also after all somebody wanted the rest of her family dead. In the end, she decided to wait for Shade until he returned as there were questions. A lot of questions she needed answers to.
That's what Alyssa had been doing the last couple of hours waiting. Over time she began to get bored of just waiting and began making something to eat. She wasn't the best cook but at least she is trying okay!? "I suck at cooking!" Alyssa yelled in the empty apartment as she threw a pot across the room in protest. 'Okay, I need to calm down and try again' Alyssa told herself over and over to calm her anger. Needless to say, multiple pots were thrown throughout the next hours in anger and protest. 'What would Shade eat?' Alyssa began wondering, wanting to know more about Shade as a person. After all, he saved her life, even if it wasn't out of pure intentions. "I know! I'll make ham sandwiches. Basic, but good." Alyssa decided in a proud stance. With that, she began to cook, awaiting Shade's arrival.
