Seemingly a never-ending dirt path surrounded by large empty grass fields, Esther strolled along the path with a destination in mind.
[CURRENTLY, YOU ARE 150 STEPS FROM THE NEAREST VILLAGE]
Gripping the dark brown leather grip of the gold lantern sword, a reward he received by completing the tutorial, he swung it without much force. He thought back to the few times in movies where the character held a level of sword skills and tried his best to copy but the only thing he could say with certainty was that he was terrible. Which, of course, is to be expected as he never picked up a sword in his life before now.
Swish!
Clatter!
With another swing of the sword, the grip of his hand loosened its hold accidentally causing the sword to fall onto the dirt pathway he was slowly making his way on. He stopped and peered down at the sword now laying on the ground releasing an exasperated sigh.Β
"Maybe I don't even need the sword." he reasoned with himself, opting to ignore his encounter with the wicked witch. "Perhaps I can justβ¦run away if I happen upon anything that is dangerous." Nodding his head at his decision, he left the sword on the ground not bothering to pick it up.
Suddenly a voice called from behind him.
"Hey wait!"
With a furrow of his brow in confusion at the sudden voice calling out he stopped and turned around. A girl with shoulder-length bright red hair dressed in a long flowy white dress decorated with an assortment of flowers nearest the bottom was now behind him gripping the weird he had left behind as her life depended on it.
He was extremely confused. It was like the girl had magically appeared because the last time he had checked he had seen no one for miles. With her bright red hair and white dress, the girl was sure to stand out amongst all the greenery. 'ππ π€βπππ πππ π βπ ππππ ππππ?'
Stepping closer to him, she held the sword into his chest, black eyes full of steel and determination. "You dropped your sword."
Looking from the sword to the girl, he hesitantly took the sword from her hands and went to pull away but she held onto the sword refusing to let go. Raising an eyebrow at her, "Are you gonna let go?"
"You do not want the sword. Once you have shown that you want the sword I will let go."Β
He didn't want the sword so rather than just holding out in what he viewed as the girl challenging him he let go and stepped back. The girl seemed to anticipate this and smiled brightly. One would think she was the sun. It almost hurt his eyes.
"If you don't want it, I'm taking it. It's a beautiful sword."
"Sure, do whatever you want." Shrugging he turned around and continued on his way.
That was his first encounter with someone that wasn't trying to kill him and he wasn't sure how to feel. Although he planned on going with the flow he was sure that being here was not something he would ever get used to.Β
Also, he just realized how embarrassing that was how he looked in the clothing he was wearing. 'πΌ π€ππ π‘π πππ’πβπ‘ π’π ππ π‘βπ ππππππ‘. ππβ, π€βπ¦ πππ π βπ βππ£π π‘π π ππ ππ π‘βππ? π΅π’π‘ ππ‘ π‘βπ π πππ π‘πππ ππ πππππ π‘π π π£ππππππ πππβπ‘ πππ€ πππ πΌ βππ£π πππ‘βπππ πππ π.'
"Guess I'm just going to have to get over it," he said, running a hand through his hair.
As he continued along the path over a small hill he could see some houses that no doubt belonged to the village he had been making his way towards. With each step, the village slowly revealed itself, however, something appeared to be wrong. Contrary to how it looked outside of the village a huge cloud partially covered the village making it impossible to look closely at the village from a distance. Although the houses were able to be seen nothing else could be. It was like looking through a car window in a blizzard. Besides the mist, the buildings that made up the village looked so worn down that he wouldn't be surprised if there were holes in some of them. Wouldn't be surprised if in the next minute one of the houses would fall apart.
[YOU HAVE RECEIVED A QUEST!
MAIN QUEST: THE VILLAGE OF MIST
EXP: 100
INFORMATION: THE VILLAGE OF MIST HAS ALWAYS BEEN A REMOTE VILLAGE, HOWEVER, SOME STRANGE THINGS HAVE BEEN HAPPENING LATELY. NOW THE VILLAGE IS ENTRAPPED IN A MIST THAT WON'T LET UP. SOMEONE MAY BE BEHIND THE MIST THAT HAS ENCIRCLED THIS VILLAGE.
ADDITIONAL REWARDS: RANDOM STATS LEVEL-UP BOX, 5,000 GEL]
Skimming over the quest and its information, he paused at the additional rewards. Humming quietly, "What is Gel? Probably the currency."
[TIP #2: GEL IS THE CURRENCY OF THIS WORLD]
He chuckled at being right. "As I thought."
Approaching the village, not one shadow of a person could be seen. It was like the village was empty. 'πΌπ‘'π ππππ π πβππ π‘ π‘ππ€π.' he thought to himself whilst observing more of the village as he entered.Β
Suddenly, right after he entered the village, he felt a small chill as if he wasn't allowed to be there. Looking behind him, he noticed that unlike outside where he was able to look in he was unable to see out. From the inside, it seemed that most had a bit of control over what the villagers were able to see, almost like a living being wrapping their hands around the village as a cage or maybe even as a form of protection.
Full of apprehension and unsure of what to do he continued forward trying to sort out his thoughts. Crossing his arms as he mindlessly wandered forward, "The mist isn't natural. And the quest definitely points towards someone as the reason for the mistβ¦but maybe it could be for possible protection? But the information mentions that the village is trapped so it can't be."
"Pst, outsider."
The feeling of something being wrong had gotten stronger.
