The sun was beginning to set over the forest, painting the sky a stunning ombre of orange and dark blue. The night was fast approaching, but Keisha and Mr. Samuel were yet to find the group of truant students.
"Where are they?"
Keisha groaned in frustration, her voice betraying her anxiety. They'd been searching for hours now, yet there was still no sign of Steph or her friends. Trying to keep his student calm, Mr. Samuel tried to offer a suggestion.
"It's getting dark now. Perhaps I should turn so that I can sweep the entire area much faster? I didn't turn since because I don't want to risk being seen by any humans, especially by your friends."
"That's a good idea. Should I wait here for you?"
"I don't feel comfortable leaving you alone in a place like this. That'd be reckless."
Mr. Samuel approached her as he said this, crouching low when he got to her. Confused, the human gave him a puzzled stare as he motioned for her to get on.
"Climb on my back. I'll carry you."
