Drip, drip, drip
The only sound Victor could hear was the sound of something dripping. It was so soothing, and calming, he thought he could sleep forever like this.
BOOM!
That is until the sound of something similar to an explosion almost giving him a heart attack in his sleep. He opens his eyes wide open, and slowly glances at his surrounding while still laying down.
He seemed to be in some sort of demolished house, as if a tornado had passed through it. The sunlight from the broken roof caused him to groan.
"What in the hell...?" He muttered, as another explosion sound came from outside of the building. The smell of something burning, akin to human flesh melting, almost caused him to vomit.
'Wait, wait, that wasn't a dream?!' Victor panicked, 'No, no, I'm probably still dreaming, yeah... That old hag, and that cold woman, all of that was a dream, and this is part of the dream, too.'
Victor gulped, no matter how many times he kept reassuring himself that this was a dream, he still felt restless.
'But first-' Victor brought out his hand, and-
SLAP!
He slapped his face with full force.
"...Ouch." Victor muttered, as he slowly caressed his face in pain. 'That hurt.'
"..."
"Wait, that hurts a lot! Shit!" Victor immediately panicked, this pain felt way too real for it to be a dream, and there's still a stinging pain in his face, as well.
'Fuck fuck fuck!' He grabbed his hair in a panic, and kept cursing in his head. The thought that this was all real kept messing with his head, and he kept on breathing frantically while gripping at his hair with full force.
While the idea of transferring into another world, a fantasy world filled with all kinds of creatures and civilizations was exciting for Victor, but this wasn't the fantasy world he has envisioned. A broken house filled with rubble as if something crashed into it, and the sound of explosion ringing out, along with the blood wrenching screams of people, made it seem like a battlefield, a war, instead of the world he wanted.
He kept on panicking for a while, until he heard a whimper from behind him.
Victor froze, and slowly, very slowly, turned around.
There, a few meters away, laid an old man, likely in his mid-sixty's, holding a broken knife towards Victor. The old man looked human, and his left leg was injured, as there was a large wound on it. Behind the man laid a whimpering little boy, no older than nine, clutching onto the man's torn clothes.
The man's expression was that of caution, and Victor noticed the man's hands were shaking. Victor gulped, but before he could say anything, something appeared in front of him.
A transparent, violet window appeared, which caused Victor to flinch. There were some weird words scribbled on it, as well.
[Name: Khan Adamintus
Age: 67
Race: Guhoi
Abilities: ???
Danger Level: ???]
Before his mind could register anything about this weird window, the old man suddenly shouted;
"S-Stay back! If you get any close, I-I won't hesitate to chop you into pieces!"
The man spoke in a weird language that seemed similar to gibberish, but somehow, Victor understood it, as if it was a language he has spoken since birth.
Victor Instinctively rose his hands, and muttered in a nervous tone, "Hey, hey... Grandpa, I don't mean any harm, I promise."
The old man's expression didn't budge, and he was still pointing his knife at Victor. However, his tone seemed to be a bit calmer.
"...Who are you? How the hell did you... do all of that?"
'Do all of that? What the hell is he talking about?'
Upon seeing Victor's expression, the old man sighed, before talking again.
"How did you just appear out of thin air, I mean."
Victor kept looking at the man for a moment, before letting out an audible 'Oh!'
"...I-I don't know."
"..."
The old man blankly stared at Victor.
"You don't know?"
"Yeah..."
"And you expect me to believe that?"
"...Yeah?"
A vein suddenly appeared on the old man's forehead, before letting out a shout;
"Cut the crap! What the fuck did you do?! Who are you?!"
Victor gulped at the increasingly violent Old man, not really knowing how to answer him. In truth, he was just as confused as the old man, and after a few moments, the old man questioned him yet again, more veins appearing on his forehead the more he shouted.
'Hey, he won't get a heart attack if he keeps going like this, right?'
The old man tried to move towards Victor a bit in the mid of his frantic shouting, before he was suddenly cut off by the sharp pain in his leg, causing him to wince in a pain, and look at his injury.
Victor's eyes glinted, and instinctively, he immediately dashed towards the man, which caused the man to let out an unconscious shout, but before he could stab him, Victor grabbed his wrist. The old man let out a gasp and immediately tried to fight back, but to no avail.
'It makes me feel kinda bad that I'm doing this to an old man, but I need him to calm down first.'
In a blink of an eye, Victor disarmed the man, took the knife for himself, and let go of the man's wrist.
Had it been anyone else, Victor wouldn't have done it, mostly due to the fact that they'd probably be stronger than him, and this rash idea he came up with could only work because this guy was an old man.
Instinctively, fear appeared on the man's face, and tried to shield the boy behind him by hugging him tightly.
"P-Please wait-" Before the man could finish his pleading, Victor cut him off.
"Calm down." Said Victor, as he casually threw the broken knife to the other side of the room he was in.
Victor sat down in front of the old man, "I don't mean any harm, I promise."
Perhaps after seeing Victor discard the knife, the old man slowly nodded, although fear was still engraved in his eyes. Victor let out a sigh, and sat down with crossed legs.
"Trust me," Victor let out, "I'm just as confused as you are."
The man, once again, nodded slowly in fear, while the child kept on weeping silently as it stared at Victor in fear.
"Your name is... Khan, right?" The man, 'Khan', flinched at the mention of his name.
"H-How do you-" Before the old man could finish his sentence, he was cut off, but this time it wasn't due to the pain, but rather-
*Growl*
Victor suddenly felt all the hairs on his back stand up. A growl akin to that of a wolf could be heard outside, and slowly, Victor turned around.
At least 1.5 meters in height alone, despite standing on all four legs, a black fur covered their entire body, fangs that can easily pierce through his head without a problem, and claws sharper than any knife he has seen. It was a creature that resembled a wolf, a few meters away from the house he was in, and it was slowly approaching him.
Victor's hand shook, as his attention kept on the 'wolf' that was slowly approaching. He glanced at the knife at the end of the room, and cursed under his breath for his stupidity.
'No-' Victor thought, 'How can that broken knife even help me against this monster?'
As the monster kept on coming closer, Victor's heartbeat fastened. He didn't have time to look at the old man, but he could guess it was even worse than him.
In just a few moments, this wolf was a mere few meters away from Victor, already entering the broken house, and its eyes were piercing through Victor's.
They kept staring at each other, neither of them moving an inch from their spot, the only thing they could hear is the occasional sound of explosions, and people screaming from afar. Victor didn't know what to do, and the only thing he wanted right now was something to at least fend off this beast of a wolf.
Then-
"Kyaaaah!"
The wolf bounced with such ferocity towards Victor, as the sound of the little boy's scream rang through his head.
And suddenly-
