The Captain's eyes shone with amusement at the story Ian had told. I could tell he was deeply in thought. I would have liked to know what he thought. "Leave us Michelle, Sharon," He ordered with finality. The two girls immediately stopped talking and left the room obediently. He waited until they closed the door to turn to face us again, "Well now, this is not what I suspected."
My friend and Gale exchanged glances with each other.
"I don't like how the tables have turned. Lady Gertrude has become a subject of a secret society," He remarked seriously.
I couldn't agree more. After the symbol I saw, something big is bound to happen. But I just don't know what.
"Have you seen what she intends to do?" He asked curiously.
"No," I admitted.
"Lady Gertrude's motive is to make herself reach with illegal terms. As such, it must involve something involving the sea," he added. He sighed and rubbed his forehead. "Other than that, news is that she's been seen around nobles."
Gale spoke then, "Do you think she has something to do with the disappearance of Baron Hightop?"
"Perhaps."
I shook my head in denial. "Then, wouldn't you think the guards would have been involved by now?"
"A good point," He mused, tapping his finger against the side of his mouth with his free hand. His lips pursed into a thin line.
Baron Hightop was nobleman of a lower estate in Hilan located in southeast of Soreen. He was known for his strong connection with the royal King and his trading goods to one of the most powerful kingdoms to the east. But just like that, he disappeared. With no word. Even the King himself was worried.
"I suppose we could take the chance and go after what she intends to do?" Gale asked hopefully.
"That's approval. Ian, schedule an appointment with Lady Eriel and Sir Gustave. I request a spy to inferred Lady Gertrude."
I could say everything was playing smoothly at least. It felt like Lady Gertrude was ahead of Gard. I couldn't help but think her methods seem so easy. She had managed to trick one of Gard's strongest men in the beginning. I can't help but wonder who exactly it was that she wanted to meet with in that building.
For some reason, the thought made me uneasy, and what business does she have with that Kinshire nobleman?
The captain dismissed us. Ian had to remain to get in touch with the higher-ups. Gale and I decided to walk back to the guild hall. It was unusually quiet.
