Everything was going on fine until the death of my mum. The death of my mum really changed me from the sweet girl I was to a monster. My mum meant a lot to me. I could vividly remember, the day before her death we all went out together as a family for shopping, went to the beach and had lots of fun. Her death was a real shock to me, seeing her eyelids close to death made my world crumble.

IT ALL BEGAN...

My name is Mariah Roberts. My family was indeed heaven on earth. It was filled with love, happiness and unity. My parents loved each other so much. My mum never gave birth again after her last miscarriage. It was a huge loss to my parents and I because I've always wished to have a baby sister who I can play with and do lots of crazy things siblings do together.

I felt the rays of the sun pierced into my eyes as I tried to open my eyes. I heard my mum voice waking me up from my deep slumber. "My Queen wake up. It's Monday and you mustn't go late to school"

"Arrrrghh" I grumbled. I hate Mondays, they are usually very stressful. I covered my face with my blankets, the sun rays were too much for my eyes to bear. "Ok mum" I replied from underneath the blanket.

"Don't stay too long. When you're done come downstairs for your breakfast" she said. "Mum" I called her as she was about leaving my room.

"What is it, dearest?"

"You look sad and pale" I said worriedly. My mum is a cheerful woman. You hardly see her sad. She came close to me and held my two cheeks playfully "Mum is fine. Don't worry about me" she said giving me a faint smile.

"But Mum..." Before I could ask again, she interrupted me.

"Dearest, get ready for school. It's running late" she said trying to change the subject. "Okay mum" I guess I should let her be. Immediately my mum left my room, I entered into the bathroom, removed my night robe and slipped into the warm water running out from the shower. I took my bath quickly and dressed up. I styled my hair into ponytail and applied lips gloss. Before going downstairs, I looked at myself in the mirror and felt satisfied.

As I walked down the stairs, I saw my Dad watching the early morning news, that's one of his favorites. " Dad, good morning" I gave him a hug.

"Good morning princess. You look beautiful this morning" he complimented me, giving me a smile.

"I look just like you" I chuckled.

" I know, princess" he smiled faintly. I made my way to the dining room. I met hot tea and bread on the table. Seeing it made my stomach to churn hungrily. I sat down almost immediately and started eating.

Few minutes later, I joined my mum in the car. The drive to school was short and quiet. Bridge gate high school is the best school in town. It is mostly rich kids who attends the school but luckily I was transferred on scholarship. My first year in the school was so tough for me. There were lots of bullying and harassment until Ella and Crystal stood up for me through their influence and ever since then we've been inseparable.

"Bye mum" I waved at her as I alighted.

"Bye princess" she smiled and zoomed off. On my way to my class, I came across my two jolly friends, Ella and Crystal. "Hi gals" I said as I hugged them both joyfully.

"Girl, you're looking beautiful" Ella said. Ella is so dramatic and fun to be with.

"Thank you" I said, winking at her playfully.

"Lest I forget, Mariah I have gist for you" Crystal said, bringing us closer. Crystal is a gossip. She knows how to get others secret. One can never gets bored with her, she knows how to tell stories.

"Ok, I'm listening"

"A new guy has been transferred to our class" they both screamed excitedly. "He's tall, fair, muscular and handsome. He has a body quality every girl admires" Crystal said waving her hands up dramatically.

"I'm crushing on him already" Ella said as she rolled her eyes dreamily at me. Ella is a flirt. Guys get easily attracted to her, she's so beautiful but not as beautiful as I am. She has dumped lot of guys while Crystal don't even believe in love. After she caught her ex- boyfriend hitting on one of our classmates, she closed her heart to love.

"So??" I shrugged my shoulders. Handsome guys don't really freak me. I've never even been a relationship before. I don't believe in highschool love. From what I've seen, most of them do end up in heart break.

"You'll see him when we get to class. Let's go" Ella said. As we all walked to our class.

Few minutes after we entered the class, our Biology teacher, Mrs Florence came in. Even though I don't like Biology, Mrs Florence made it interesting and simpler for me. I do enjoy every bit of her class.

"Good morning everyone. Let's be seated". I saw a guy standing at the back of the class, I guess that's the new guy. He's not really handsome as Ella and Crystal portrayed him to be.

"You are new, right??" Mrs Florence asked him.

"Yes ma'am" he answered. "

"What's your name". She asked.

"Edward Jones"He replied.

"Have your seat beside Mariah" Mrs Florence said as she gestured at me.

I wished Carolina, my former seat partner was here but she transferred to another school due to reasons known to only her. It was when he sat beside me I realized how handsome he is. He is fair, tall and muscular. His eyes captures the blue colour of the ocean. His has a pointed nose which adds to his physique. Down to his lips, he has a pouty lips which is full and pink. He looks so perfect.

"So today we'll be looking at the Human skeletal system" Mrs Florence kept on teaching. All throughout the class, my mind was on Edward. I couldn't get myself to concentrate. Immediately, Mrs Florence left the class, I laid my head on the table to have a short nap before the next teacher comes in. Suddenly, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I raised my head up and realized it was Edward.

"What's it?" I felt angry at him for disturbing my sweet nap.

"I'll like to borrow the previous biology notes" He said coldly.

"Can't you at least apologize for disturbing me and can't you say please" I rolled my eyeballs at him. I was starting to feel irritated by his attitude.

"Nevermind" he hissed and walked away.

"So rude" I muttered to myself. Immediately, our mathematics teacher, Mr Joseph walked in. I hate Mr Joseph's class. His class is always boring. It took 'forever' for him to leave the class.

"This will be all for today. We will see in the next class" he said, packing his books and walked out of the class. As soon as he left, I heaved a sigh of relief. It was lunch time, I felt so happy because I was starting to feel hungry.

"Queen Mariah" Crystal and Ella said dramatically.

"let's go to the dining hall. I'm feeling hungry" I said rolling my eyeballs at them.

"Okay" Ella answered as we all walked to the dining room. We got a table and ordered our food. In Bridge gate high school, once your school fees is completed for the term, food is free for that term. "So delicious" I said, munching on my food. Suddenly, I sighted Evelyn and her cohorts walking into the dining hall. Evelyn is a goddess. She's so beautiful and perfect. She has the beauty, the brain and the money. Her parents are stinkingly rich but she's so proud and arrogant.She has bullied lot of weak students and juniors. She and Ella got into a fight because of a guy. I and my friends dislike her so much. "That bitch is here" Crystal said sounding irritated.

"We shouldn't mind her" Ella chipped in. I guess Ella is right.

"Back to you Mariah, Edward is your sit partner. Don't you find him attractive?" Crystal said, facing me

"No I don't. He is rude" immediately I said that, they burst into laughter.

"What's funny? I'm not cracking a joke, I'm being serious" I said.

"What did he do?" Ella asked trying to be serious.

"He snubbed me" I replied.

"Is that why you said he is rude" Crystal laughed.

"yeah"

"Maybe he didn't hear you. Don't be quick to judge" Ella said as she pulled my ear playfully.

"He isn't even my concern" I said sipping my fruit juice.

"Are you sure?" They both chorused, smiling sheepishly.

What's wrong with these girls. Have they gone nuts? " Yeah" As I said that I felt nervous, felt butterflies in my belly.

"Hope it's not what I'm thinking? I can't crush on Edward, he is rude and he is not even my type" I thought, trying to suppress that nervous feeling I felt.

"She is blushing" They both giggled.

"No I'm not" I defended myself. "Let's get back to class, lunch time is over" I said and stood up. If I stay here any longer, I'm gonna blow up.

"Okay missy" Ella said while Crystal winked at me. We all made our way to the class.
