I was getting ready for the office, i have an important meeting today, that is why I have to leave early.
I was busy tying my tie when I heard a knock on the door
"Come in" I said
The door opened revealing my mother
"Good morning beta" she said cheerfully
"Good morning" I replied
I was trying to make the perfect knot but as usual I was failing in doing so, my mom sighed and stood next to me
"Come, i will do it" she said holding my tie, since I was in hurry, i didn't protest
"Mera beta naraz hai (is my son upset?" She asked
"No, why would I be?"
"Irteza, my child, i love you very much and I am very proud of you" she said holding my face in her both hands, i got overwhelmed and hugged her
"Why can't I ever make papa proud?" I asked
"Oh my little kid, don't be so downhearted" she rubbed my back, i broke the hug and pulled back
"It is all because of Aleeza, papa would have gotten over the fact that I can't become a doctor, but because of her he thinks I let him down"
"No beta, it is not her fault"
"Of course you would say this, you would take her side, because somewhere you also believe that she is fulfilling Papa's dream"
"There's nothing like that, why are you taking it on her, she is not to be blamed, she is also following her heart just like you"
I was quiet at her words, maybe it was too bad of me to break her phone last night, but i was so hurt because of her and she showed up, i acted upon my emotions
"She is just an innocent child, don't be so hard on her" she said and i rolled my eyes at her statement
"Now you are exaggerating, she is not innocent at all" i said, she laughed, she opened her mouth to say something but a knock on the door stopped her
"Enter" i said
To my surprise it was Aleeza, what is she doing here?
"Assalamualaikum badi mummy" she said, then she looked at me, "good morning tar.. Irteza" she said, i rolled my eyes
"What do you want?" I asked rudely, my mom glared at me
"Come inside beta, why are you standing at the door?" Mummy said to her
"Actually I made fresh orange juice for everyone, i got to know you are here, so thought why not bring yours and irteza's here only" she said, i noticed she was holding a tray with two glasses
Itni to Shareef nahi hai ki sabke liye juice banae, yeh kya naya drama hai (she is not that sweet that she makes juice for everyone, what is this new drama of hers)
"That is so nice of you, bring it here" mummy said, she smiled and walked towards us, suddenly she tripped and the tray fell from her hand and the juice spilled all over my room, even on my laptop which was kept on the table
"Oh no, I'm so sorry" she said
"Are you blind?" I shouted and ran towards my laptop, before I could even touch it, she picked it up
"I made the mess, i will clean" she said and started wiping the laptop
"It's ok, let it be" mummy said
"No no let me clean" she kept on wiping it, i held it and tried taking it but she was holding it firmly
"Leave it" i screamed
"No" she said, we both were pushing and pulling the laptop suddenly she dropped it, it fell on the floor and broke in two pieces
"Look what you have done" i shouted at her, she made an irritating face
"I was just trying to help" she said making a crying face
I picked up my laptop and examined it, it was wrecked
"I didn't do it on purpose" she said to mummy
"It's ok, don't cry, it was just a laptop" mummy consoled her, i was just glaring at her, i was so mad at her
"I know badi mummy it can get fixed but" she said, then looked at me, i could see fire in her eyes, "chahe "phone" ho ya laptop emotions to jude hote hai na (but be it phone or laptop, we get emotionally attached to it" she smirked
Oh so it was her revenge
"Now let it go beta, Irteza will get it fixed" mummy dismissed
"You know badi mummy, last night a monkey broke my phone" she said dramatically, i was just standing and listening to her
"Monkey? Where?" Mummy inquired
"On the terrace"
"Our terrace?" Mummy asked, she nodded, "very strange, how can a monkey come to the terrace?"
"There's only one, he walks around like he owns the world" she said looking at me
"Usse kya hota hai, hai to phir bhi bandar hi na (so what does it change?he is still a monkey)" mummy said, Aleeza giggled
Yaar mummy you are talking about your son, i thought
"Hmm but what should I do about my phone now?" She said
"Irteza will get it fixed" mummy said, and i immediately shook my head
"I ca..." I was saying but Aleeza cut me off
"No no how can he, he stays so busy" Aleeza said
"Don't worry about it, he will do it, give your phone to him" mummy said
She took out her phone from her kurta pocket and handed it to me
"I need it by evening, tomorrow is my first day at the hospital" she said
"Irteza, you are anyways going to get your laptop fixed, just take her phone also, and positively get it fixed by evening ok beta?" Mummy asked
How can I refuse her? I just nodded, mummy beamed and patted my cheek lightly muttering my loving son, then she left the room, i narrowed my eyes at Aleeza
After mummy left she chuckled loudly
"Look at your face" she laughed and stood close to me while looking eye to eye
"It was just a trailer, if you ever cross my path again i will show you the whole picture" she said and turned to leave, then she stopped at the door
"By evening, remember monkey" she winked and left
I was so so so mad at her, i shouted in frustration.
I looked at the time, i was already late for the meeting, i groaned and left immediately, i didn't even have time to have breakfast
I sat in my car and started driving, i was halfway to the office when my phone rang, it was my PA's call
"Hello" i answered through the bluetooth speaker
"Good morning sir" he said
"I'm on my way, I'll reach soon"
"I called you regarding that only, the meeting has been cancelled"
"What? Why?"
"I don't know sir, i just got the call from Mr Sufi's office, they just said that he has some urgent personal work"
"That's so unprofessional" i said getting angry and annoyed, "do one thing you call in his office and inform them that we don't want to do any deal with them"
"But sir...."
"Do as I say" i said and hung up
I stopped the car in a corner, giving double indicator I just sat in the car, today is a ill-fated day, Aleeza already irritated me and now this
I calmed myself. Why am I getting so irritated that too because of that Annabelle, i looked at the passenger seat, her broken phone was lying there, an idea popped in my head
"I must get your phone fixed my sweet sweet Anabelle" i laughed evilly
I immediately called my PA to find out my schedule, my next meeting was after lunch, so I had enough time, I made my way towards the mall to get my work done

After getting the phone fixed i came to the food court since i was feeling very hungry as i missed my breakfast
I ordered myself a coffee and a sandwich and sat on a table, i was just scanning the area, my eyes landed on a very hot woman
I quickly finished my sandwich and went to her, she was sitting alone, i dropped next to her
"What pretty lady like you doing here all alone?" I asked, she looked up at me
She checked me out, then smiled looking at me, i could see appreciation in her eyes indicating she likes what she's seeing
"Take a picture, it will last longer" i winked
"You are even more handsome in person Mr Irteza" she said, i frowned
"How do you know my name?"
"I read about you in a magazine"
"Oh. So what was written there?" I drummed my fingers on the table
"Do you really want to know?" She asked flirtatiously
"Yup" i said popping the p
"It said" she said and moved closer to me, suddenly she looked behind me and panicked, she got up and held my hand
"We need to go from here, come with me" She said and dragged me to the stairs,
"So, where were we?" she circled her arms around my neck
There was no fire, no desire in me for her, but I still pretended to be interested, i was about to speak but her ringtone stopped me
She moved back and took out her phone, she looked at the caller and rolled her eyes
"One second" she said to me and answered the call
"Where have you gone?" The guy on the phone spoke so loudly that i could hear him clearly
"I've come to the washroom, i will return soon" she said and hung up, the guy was saying something but she didn't listen
"Brother?" I asked, she shook her head
"No, it was my husband" she said, my eyes widened
"Husband?" Are you married?" I asked, she nodded
She was about to put her hands on me, but i pushed her and moved away, she gave me a confused look
"What happened?" She asked
"Madam, i might be a big flirt, but i know my limits, you must go back to your husband" i said and walked away, she ran after me
"So what I am married? We can have a fling"
"Are you listening to yourself? I am not that type of person" i continued walking, but she was not leaving me alone
"When i have no problem, why do you care?" She held my hand tightly making it impossible for me to go
"Leave my hand" i said, she shook her head
"Don't test my patience, just leave my hand" i said again but she didn't listen, by now i was very angry at her
"Listen you, whatever your name is, don't force me to become someone i don't want to be" i said pulling my hand from her grip
"Bhai" i turned my head at the source of the voice, there stood my angel, my saviour, Arfa. I quickly ran to her side
"Kiddo, thank god you are here" i said hugging her
"How many times I have told you not to call me that in public" she hissed
I turned around to check the woman but she was gone, i sighed in relief
"By the way what were you doing?" She asked
"That lady got after my life"
"Aap nahi sudharna kabhi (you will never mend your ways)" she said shaking her head
"Never" i winked
"I'm afraid you will get in trouble one day"
"No worries, god always sends you to help me"
"You are lucky I was here with my friends"
"Yeah I am"
I went to the office and the day went smoothly..

Aleeza's POV

I took a deep breath and pushed the door open, today is my first day at the hospital, to say I'm excited would be an understatement, i can't express in words how I feel right now
It may sound weird to some people but the smell of the hospital is very satisfying for me, the rubbing alcohol's smell is so much better than any expensive perfume
I have visited here a lot, but today I'm here as a part of this hospital, i would be working here. I quickly thanked Allah for showing this day to me
It was written on the notice board that all interns have to be in the meeting room by 8:00 am, i looked at the time it was 7:50, so I went straight to the meeting's room
When i reached there I saw a few doctors sitting already
"Good morning doctors" i said
"Good morning. You are?" One of them asked
"Aleeza, i am Aleeza Ahmed" i said
"Hello Dr Aleeza, i'm Dr Lubna" she said with a smile
"Nice to meet you" i shook hands with her
I could recognise a few doctors, i have seen them with bade papa but none of them know me personally, nobody knows that I am related to bade papa
"Hi Aleeza" girl next to me whispered
"Oh hi" i smiled at her
"I'm Ankita, i am also an intern" she said, i got excited seeing an intern
"Really? Wow" i said
We talked for some time, we immediately clicked, in five minutes she was already talking as if she has known me for years
The door opened and bade papa entered, everyone in the room stood up to greet him
"Good morning everyone, please be seated" he said and settled in his seat, he looked at me and smiled
"I welcome all the interns in the hospital, i am honoured to have all of you here, i look forward to working with you. From this day onwards your priority will be and should be your patients only, try not to mix your personal life and professional life. I have great expectations from you, and I'm sure you'll live up to, right interns?" He asked
"Yes sir" few voices said together
Then he spoke about the hospital, the doctors, he also told all the interns to introduce themselves, we also got to meet all the senior doctors.
"If you ever need any help, I'm always there and our doctors would surely love to help you as well, after all we all are one family" he smiled
"I once again welcome you all. Does anyone of you have any questions?" He asked and looked at all of us, but all of us were sitting quietly
"Looks like all your doubts are already cleared" he chuckled, then he pointed at two doctors sitting on the left, "so, Dr Abhay, Dr Lubna, it will be your responsibility to assign them their duty, and keep an eye on their performance"
"Yes sir" they both said in unison
Suddenly someone's phone rang, everyone looked at each other. Whose phone is it? How can someone be so stupid to not put the phone on silent?
"Whose phone is ringing?" Bade papa asked, i paled when i realised it was my phone, i quickly took it out and saw it was an alarm tone, i quickly shut it off
"I'm sorry" i said
"Dr Aleeza, you must keep your phone on silent" bade papa said
"Yes ba.. yes doctor, I'm sorry" i said, i was feeling so ashamed, i don't even remember when I put this alarm
"It goes for everyone, nobody will be using the phone while they are on duty, is that clear?" He asked in a high tone
"Yes sir" everyone said
I could see a hint of dissatisfaction in his eyes for me. How could I be so careless?
"So that's it for today, good luck everyone" he got up, we all stood up in respect for him, he nodded his head and left
After he left my phone rang again, it was another alarm, i turned it off, i searched for the clock app to turn off all the alarms, but strangely i couldn't find it anywhere in my phone
"Dr Aleeza, didn't you hear Dr Hasan, put your phone on silent" Dr Lubna said getting angry at me
"I'm sorry ma'am but i think there's an issue in my phone, alarms are ringing, i didn't even set them up" i apologised
"What an impression you are making on the first day" she muttered under her breath, but i heard her, i was feeling so embarrassed
"Anyways, let's do some work" Dr Abhay said and handed all the interns a small bunch of paper
"Read this, there are guidelines, rules and regulations in these. Plus your locker number and the locker password is also there, it was set by default you can change it however you want" Dr Abhay said
I was so confused about my phone, what is wrong with it? When did I put these alarms and why can't I find the way to shut them off?
I was lost in my thoughts, i felt someone shaking me, it was Ankita
"Where are you lost? Dr Lubna has called you thrice" she said, i gulped, shit
"Sorry ma'am" i said
"Dr Aleeza, i think you are not in the mood to work today, why don't you go back home and come later, when you are ready" she said
"I'm sorry, it won't happen again" i said, i heard a giggling, i looked up and saw Zoya, my fellow intern, covering her mouth while laughing at me
"Any problem Dr Zoya?" Dr Lubna asked, she shook her head
"If you guys are done, may i assign you your duties for today?" Dr Abhay said
Then we were given our duties, i was told to assist Dr Lubna in the general ward today
We were given our doctor's coat and stethoscope, my eyes teared a little, so here I start
The day went by quite smoothly after that, i was taking rounds with Dr Lubna, checking on patients
We were standing next to a patient's bed, she was admitted due to chronic stomach ache, she complained to ma'am that it was still hurting
"Dr Aleeza give her a pain killer injection, it will give her some relief" she said, i nodded
I quickly prepared the injection, i held her arm and was about to give it to her, but my phone rang, again it was the same stupid alarm tone, ma'am glared at me
"Switch off your phone" she ordered angrily, i nodded and quickly turned off my phone and kept it in my pocket
After that i proceeded with the injections. After checking on the rest of the patients, it was finally lunch time
"From tomorrow you will leave your phone in your locker only, understand?" She asked
"Yes" i nodded
"Better. You can go to have lunch now" she said and left
What a bad start. I was feeling so sad, i don't know what virus has entered my phone, i just want to break it into pieces
After i put the phone in my locker, i made my way to the canteen, i noticed almost all of the interns sitting there, i decided to join them
"Look finally Aleeza is here" Ankita said cheerfully announcing my arrival, "come sit" she patted on the chair next to her, i settled on it
"What took you so long?" She asked
"Don't ask about it" i said in a tired tone,
"It's ok, don't stress about it" she said understanding what I was implying on
"By the way, it was a very good move to gain attention on you" zoya said, my eyes widened
"You think i did it purposely?"
"Obvio" she shrugged
"Come on Zoya, it couldn't be her plan, who would get in trouble just to gain attention" Harsh said taking my side, he was also an intern
"Don't trust this innocent face, I'm sure there are layers behind it" she said rolling her eyes
What is her problem? What have I done to her? Why is she behaving like this? Before I could take a stand for myself, Ali spoke
"Enough Zoya, you are being too hard on her" he said, he's also an intern
"Whatever" Zoya muttered, she got up and left
"Just don't pay attention to her" Ali said, i smiled and gave him a nod
"My god Aleeza, it's just your first day and you are already quite popular" Ankita giggled
"It was not how I imagined my first day to be" i said sadly
"It's ok, it's just the first day, we've looong way to go, so just chill" she put her hand on mine,
"Hmm" i just hummed
"By the way I noticed Ali cannot stop looking at you, I'm sure he likes you, who wouldn't? you are so so pretty, maybe you should give him a chance" she said, i shifted in my seat uncomfortably
"Ankita i really don't like all these things, I'm here to work only nothing more than that"
"Ok ok relax, i was just joking"
Rest of the day went by with no hurdles, thank god I kept my phone in the locker it didn't bother after that, after a tiring day i went straight to home, it was so late, i just went straight to my room, took a bath and then prayed namaz
After i was done with everything, i sat on my bed, my stomach grumbled, i was feeling hungry, i thought of having milk, so i went to the kitchen
I was busy taking out milk for me when i heard a voice behind me
"Hello Dr Anabelle" i rolled my eyes, I was seriously not in the mood to even spare a minute on him, i just stood quietly
"So how was your "first" day at the hospital?" He said air quoting the first
I just gave him a deaf ear, not really paying attention to him
"What happened? Nobody liked you there also" he said and i started walking off
"You look tired Anabelle, you must rest, you have to wake up early tomorrow, don't forget to put an alarm" he said and my steps faltered, suddenly it hit me, anger ran in my vein, i turned around and marched towards him
"You did it? I asked, he smirked
"I'm surprised you didn't figure it out yet" i held his shirt
"Are you insane? You are such a jerk, how could you do it?" i shouted shaking him, at this time i didn't care if anyone came right now, i was so furious at him
"What did you think? Only you can show the trailer, now why does it hurt when I do it?" He held my hand and pushed me away
"How did you do it?" I asked
"I'm a technologies savy" he said proudly
"Dil toh kar raha hai tumhari Jaan nikaal doon (i just want to kill you)" i said angrily and he stood cool
"Lagta hai madam ka din accha nhi Gaya (looks like your day did not go well)" he laughed
"I hate you so much" i said
"Well the feeling is mutual"
We both kept our eyes narrowed at each other
"You will pay for it Tarzan" i said
"Soch lo, kyunki maine bhi phir chup nahi bethna hai (think about it because I am not going to stay quiet)"
"Phir se kehta hu door raho mujhse, uljhogi to pacchhtaogi (I'll repeat myself stay away from me, if you'll get involved with me, you will just regret)" he said and left, i was fuming with anger
