Chapter 3 - Chapter 1

In the Kingdom of Garlan, on the Eastern side in the highland mountains far from the central city, the smell of wet sage wafted in the air after the eastern monsoon rains pushed northwest off the coast directly landing inland. The Mauser estate sat atop a hill overlooking everything in the highlands. The stone walls are ten foot tall, 4 foot wide, with two-foot spikes planted every other along the top of the wall. The mansion sits back giving the front more room with stairs leading to the top of the wall on both sides of the inside. Mothers garden is on the right of the cobbled footpath if facing toward the mansion. On the left is a giant ancient oak tree that flint loved ever since he could climb. The estate is simple stone and wood logs with a chimney poking out the back middle part, mansion stands three stories tall, and has 20 bedrooms. For all the employees, and guards.

"Flint, dinner is ready." Head maid Triss hollered. That was Triss, but I call her miss Triss it feels natural, plus she doesn't mind, I almost think she likes it when I call her that. Flint looked down at the base of the Oak and nicely cut grass he quickly hopped down feeling the water drops falling from his wet hair. Whenever the rains would come, Flint would run to the Giant Oak, climb midway and wait for the transformation, the freshness that water brought with it in the air, and upon the land, was truly fantastical.

Flint loved the different colors that blew in with the storm. The greys, whites, blues, and blacks, the water would bring out the greens, browns of the wood, and the grey of stone would be darker. Being a half elf, from his mother, he could also feel the life magic tapping his soul in a playful manor.

Flint knew if he didn't hurry Mother, and Miss Triss wouldn't be very happy. "Run along young master don't want to keep Miss Triss waiting." One of the two guards said while rubbing his imaginary boobs. The other guard smacked the vulgar man, "ignore him Young Master." The guard bowed. Flint had no idea what rubbing his chest met, he just said don't worry about it and ran to the house, Flints only 12.

Miss Triss was standing on the front step scowling at the vulgar man, 'I know I shouldn't have given that man a chance, teaching the young master vulgar thoughts, I think the lady would like to hear this. The vulgar man seen Triss staring at him, he gingerly waved. Triss just smiled 'Just you wait Bukthorn.' Her smile turned devilish Bukthorn went pale "Young master, tell your mother what that man did, his name is Bukthorn." Miss Triss stood straight rubbed the wrinkles out of her skirt, grabbed her two hands and pressed her arms close with her massive assets in between. She gave Bukthorn, and Hyde a seductive smile, Hyde looked away while Bukthorn was lost in his fantasies. 'Foolish man.' Triss thought.

Triss Lynn her full name, head maid for 10 years. 31 years old with a blessed goddess body, night black hair, bright blue eyes, every guard wanted a piece, or the whole thing, but it only went so far. Alot of rumors started after her and Ben had a falling out because she wanted to wait, she wanted marriage, and Ben just wanted some. His loss, Triss was a morale boost for every man on this wall.

Triss walked in behind the Young Master, "Young Master you look cold go get changed and meet your mother in the dining room." Triss said while patting the top of Flints head. "Yes Miss Triss." Flint sped to his room. While getting changed Flint couldn't stop thinking of his father, he missed him terribly. Flint found a nice fitting red vest black shoes and reddish black pants.

Flint walked in all dressed to the nines, his mother smiled liking the look of her boy he has brown/blonde hair green eyes with gold flecks mixed in, he is handsome that spoke volumes for his future. Flint looked back to see his Mother Claire; she has vibrant green eyes that looked almost alive. Long blonde hair that reached past her waist her height is 6 foot even, Elven women get as tall as the Elven men. Her figure was well endowed but modest at the same time, not as curvy or big as Triss's body. Claire motioned for Flint to come and give her a hug Flint could see the love in her eyes. He could feel the love tapping at his soul it was his mother's life magic. It slowly enveloped his soul and squeezed his soul it felt like being hugged. In the Elven culture parents would do this to their children, only parents could do this with their children because they share the same life magic. Flint brought his life magic out and hugged his mother, another reason for this was to test his life magic, Claire probed her son's life magic, and only found a little mutated life energy, nothing to worry about. everyone with life magic had a little mutated life magic.

"Mother I miss Father" Flint said tears welling in his eyes. Claire grabbed Flint and brought him in a huge bear hug. Triss walked up, "My Lady, Young Master, dinner is served." "Thank you, Triss." Claire thanked Triss, Triss stepped back and waited for dinner to end.

Dinner was uneventful mother asked me what I did today what I should have done, Bukthorn got off scott free, since Flint had forgotten what happened earlier. Miss Triss was not happy, but she soon simmered down willing to deal with it herself. Thats for another day, that night Flint was playing with his life magic flipping it over itself over and over tell he saw a small white light with gold in the middle. Strange, Flint thought, he wasn't scared; his mother sensed no harm, Flint plopped down and passed out.

The next morning was the same schedule he has had since he was eight years old. Wake up, bathe, go to breakfast. After breakfast head to his mother's class on his life magic, for two hours. Break for a midday lunch with his mother and Triss. Then he would finally start on homeschooling such as, reading, writing, basic arithmetic, and then Garlan History. His favorite subject to study, only because of the Faye. There's a legend about a soul bound by Faye and darkness the true threat to the world. It's not written in the book; eve only brings it up to scare him he believes.

The saying goes: (That darkened champion rides, he cares not for riches or fame, only death, and destruction. He rides, tell the eve of the Faye, when all shall be decided. Blackness will drink upon the world's nectar, for a new era, like the old.) "If the saying is true, the eve of the Faye can be within 13 years, or 113 years. Some believe, while most think of it as a story to tell, Bards make amount of coin from the tale, another reason for the popularity obviously, seems everybody loves a good bit of negativity." Eve stated as fact.

Flint continued his schedule as usual, after a week Flint awoke to a commotion down the hall. "Huh." He walked to his door and noticed his Fathers voice "Father!?" Flint opened his door and ran down the hall where his father's voice was the strongest, then he heard his mother "I we can't trust them, Clay." Claires voice sounded worried. Flint stopped 'who can't be trusted?' "They are adamant about this Claire, nothing we can do." Clay sounded defeated. 'Who are they?' Flint was confused. He decided to go see his father, Flint ran in yelling, "Father!!!" "Flint my boy, you've grown since the last two years I saw you." Clay was truly happy to see him, but flint could see that something settled on his mind hard, even though he was twelve his father never had this expression. "Father what's wrong?" "Oh, it's nothing, just the long ride home son." Clay exhaustedly said. it was at least two in the morning, so Clay got up and pick Flint up. "Time for bed we got a long day ahead of us in the morning." Flint looked at his mother and blew a kiss in her direction. "Goodnight, Mother." "Goodnight, my handsome boy." Claire said with a loving smile.

"Alright Flint you're a big boy now, no more running to sleep with mommy or daddy?" Clay asked playfully. "I have not done that in years Father, I'm a man now ready to ride with you. "Flint said with courage a twelve-year-old could muster. "Thats my boy, I've got a present for you in the morning, meet me by the old Oak." Clay said. "Ok Father!" "Now off to bed, get some rest it's going to be a big day tomorrow." Flint ran to his bed and plowed under his blanket. "Goodnight son, I love you." "I love you too Father." Flint closed his eyes and accepted the sleep.

"Orders are to kill everyone." The shadowed figure ordered.
