The next morning I was the first one up, and the lane was asleep on the floor next to me I notice that he was shirtless. I never knew how cut he was primarily only being in his first gym class this year. While Susan was sideways on hers with her feet and head hanging off both sides.
'I wonder how that would work out if we all just had one big bed' 'well why don't you ask him?' He seems like he's at quite a bit at peace.' as he came from around the corner where the bathroom is. 'How are you doing that?' I scooted away from him and nearly fell off the bed. 'Well, you see it's this thing called astral projection I can project my self from your mind and your friends here cant see me.' as he waved his hand thru Susanna's face. I smirked and covered my mouth since it was a little louder than I thought it would have been. 'Well, it's a lot easier concentrating on you when you're not in my head.' 'well thanks, I guess' she shrugged and smiled at him.
Lane slowly rolls over and yawns and looks up at me. 'I hope he didn't just hear me talking to myself' "Oh you're awake that's unusual." I look down at him with a concerned face. "Can I not be the first one up?" he got up and sat on my bed reaching for a red t-shirt. " well usually you sleep in till nine but that just gives me the opportunity to ask you if you want to go on a run with me this morning?" I look over at Susanna while she is still sawing logs and making it obvious that she won't be up for a while longer. "I guess we can; we'll just have to leave a note, so mom doesn't freak." He smiles at me and hands me my shoes. "I'm sure she would freak, I'll just meet you outside so you can get dressed." "Okay thanks!" so I got dressed and wrote mom her note and I realize that spooky man disappeared when lane started to wake up. 'I wonder if that is normal but like he said that kind of questions is for my dad. Pish posh I'll not worry so much,' and out the door, I left.
It was probably a 45 min run, and I was tired. We ran all around the hotel and down the street always and just chilled out together. "Well that was refreshing." lane said as he walked into the room where Susanna was sitting on the bed. "Seems like Cora isn't?" Susanna snickered and walked past me and pushed me into the door. "What's into you? Jealous you didn't go with us?" she turned around and gave lane a face I've never seen before. Like he just insulted her and embarrassed her. She just stormed off and went to mom's room.
"Hmm guess she was?" I just sat there the whole time realizing that Susan had a crush on Lane. "Want help?" he just chuckled and help his hand out to me to assist me up. "You know I never knew she did?" snickering with concern installing feeling on the inside. " I knew but never really had the same feeling for her. I have my choice made." I froze in realization he just said to me. I turn with a sporadic feeling and look up to him I didn't know he got so close. We were a few inches from each other, and he just pulled me close and hugged me. "Cora I know you think this is weird, but I do like you a lot." the heat from him increased. 'Oh my goodness, what should I do we're just hugging in ocwordness.' "Lane i know you're being sentimental right now but i like you too but i need a shower." He just leans back a tad to see can look at each other and kissed my forehead. Heat definally showed in my cheeks. "Okay I'll use your moms if she isn't in it." and he grabbed his clothes and walked to the next room.
In the silent room, I just sat alone after my shower. I just couldn't fathom that he would like me. I just can't believe that he shares the same feeling with me and he dated that girl for so long. I bet it hurt to see me just walk all those times when he was with her and see I was hurting every time. I will admit that I was jealous, but I didn't think he would see it. "Hey Cora ready to go?" mom opened the door and grabbed my bag and slung it over her shoulder. Pulling my damp hair into a bun and grabbing the clip that hung on the handle " Yes I'm excited for the next few hours of a car ride and to ride to a place that has been kept secret from me." sarcasm was heard from my voice. I just walked out the room and got in the very back of the car and sat there alone for a moment and a tad upset for the fact she still hasn't talked to me about this.
A few moments later lane entered the car and sat next to me. "You alright your mom told me to come talk to you?" " no I'm not alright I'm still upset that she hasn't pulled me aside and talked to me about this she's my mother so what I'm different from her and my sister she should still talk to me about this." he grabbed my hand with a tight squeeze "I see I unfortunately don't have this problem because I'm human, and I'm assuming your not, and like she said that this kind of stuff is what your dad is supposed to explain and obviously she doesn't have any clue what to tell you." He just gave me the feeling I was going to be okay and that everything will be answered. "I know, but still she could at least tell us where we are going?" He put his finger to his chin and taped it like he was trying to be silly. "Yes, that would be nice to know" with a Sean Connery accent. "You always know how to get me out of a mood." He embraced me in a gentle hug and didn't let go for a good min. 'Why is this so weird for me. I like it, but I feel so weird being so close?'.
Probably ever since we started driving in the car, he's had me leaned up against him like he doesn't want to let me go. Just like he was in a cuddly mood and he fell asleep in the back on me. He was so kind to me the past few day I guess he was tired. Having him with me made me feel a little less awkward but I owe him so much. Especially when his mom hasn't called him in days. I wonder if she even knows that he's even gone.
It was around 5;30 pm and we finally arrived to this humongous mansion that mom told us about.It looked like something that Bruce Wayne would own and would try not to burn down and decide to retire instead of staying up all night, but I have a feeling I'm going to be doing a lot of that especially knowing my dad.
The whole time as we walked up the stairs to the front door the only thing I could feel was that same feeling from earlier when we were watching a movie together. I didn't know to either be a where of my surroundings or to make sure not to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. The front door began to creak its way open and on the other side of it was this massive hall of shiny armor and swords and weapons of all kinds. There were even some of a kind I've never seen before. There where probably a door every 15 feet that led into a room and on the other side of the hall that we came out of was two staircases that led to a second open level. Dad was standing between the staircases where there were windows the size of the side of the house.
Susanna and I ran to him, and he embraced us in a massive hug, and we sat there feeling safe once again with us all together still. Lane even got in one the bear hug. Iv never felt this way towards my father ever, but I knew that we would have a lot of time together. "Now that we are all safe and together again I think we need to dine and have a little talk." Dad stood up and headed up one of the staircases, and we followed as well. The whole second floor was just a large kitchen and dining area and with a hall right above the other with more rooms.
"I bet you kids are exhausted and want to sleep or just chill out for a bit hmm?" "that would be nice for once just to chill and play video games or a movie right now," Susan said as she sat up next to the counter on one of the tall stools. Dad whistled, and this little person came running from the hallway. Looked kind of a house elf but nicer clothes and not too miserable looking.
"This is Sebastian, he is one of many little helpers that keeps the house clean. They won't hurt you unless you make them mad, but they're docile, so they won't do much" dad said as walked over and picked the little feller up and patted his head. He whispered something in the small things ear, and it perked up and scrambled to the floor. It walked over to me and held its hand out, I just look up at dad, and he nods like it's okay. I take the little things hand, and it spoke in a cute little elf voice "This way, this way we are gonna go have fun and play while the grownups cook and talk."
Dad was right this little guy likes to have fun, and the house elf is good at playing video games. He was like a challenge for Susana, and I was playing together. He loves to make all kinds of things, and with his magic, he can make them into real life creatures and did little puppet shows for Lane and us loved how he was so interment with his inter touch of his artistic touch. The little house elf was the best. Don't know why dad didn't bring him to the other house anyway. Then there was a bell coming from the hall. "foods done come, come we go back now its been an hour." Land just looks at his watch and nods like he was surprised that he knew.
"So hey Sebastian, do you have a family other than the other house elves?" Lane said as we were walking to the kitchen. Lane said as we were walking to the kitchen. Sebastian just stood there for a moment looking at the floor like he just torn his heart out. "oh buddy I didn't mean to make u upset I'm sorry. its okay if you don't want to talk about it." Sebastian just wiped his eyes and looked up at Lane and smiled "Thank you." Lane leaned down and picked him up and gave him a huge hug and Sebastian started to glow. It was kind of cute to see him be all happy and for Lane to do that it was very kind.
We all sat around the table in the patio area. Mom was at one end and father was at the other. Some servants brought the food out on separate plates and served us while some of the other servants put the leftover food in the middle so if we wanted more we could. We sat quietly for a while until mom broke the ice. "so what did you kids do?"
Sebastian erupted with all the fun we had, and he made it seem like the best time of his life. "I see that you like the kids being over? I told you would have fun." He blushed and reached his hand out, and dad slid his on hand on the elf's and walked away with his plate.
"What was that about, did he get in trouble?" Dad chuckled and said with glee. "Oh no that's how they ask for permission so they can excuse themselves for the day. Now he will go rest with the others, and they will all be back tomorrow." "Oh, they just can't stay up with us? it's only 7:30 right now." Dad took a drink of his wine and cleared his throat. " I figured since I have a lot to cover with your sister and I we would not need any distractions."
I just looked down at my hands and started to fiddle with my fingers. The napkin that was on my lap started to catch my tears and I walked away from the table and ran back to the game room. I sat in there for a while till Lane came in and sat next to me and handed me a cup of tea with berries in it.
"What happened to you earlier?" I wiped my eyes and blew my nose. "I just didn't want to blow up on my dad. He owes me a whole lot of explanations, and he hasn't told me anything and now all of a sudden he wants to help." "Maybe he just wants to apologize and make a difference?" He just grabbed a hold of my hand and held it close to his chest. I could feel the pulsing on the back side of my hand. His heart was as strong as an elephants and he is as kind as a kitten. He's the most sweetest person in the world.
