Chapter 179 - K-Kaiser... what the heck is that?

Just a few hours had passed since the association monsters attacked, but the devastation they caused was terrifying. It's crazy how these monsters just keep popping up from forests, sewers, and all sorts of unexpected spots.

Since there aren't enough professional heroes around, they can't handle all the monsters. Especially those monsters that can fly and have an upper hand in aerial combat. They were clearly having a great time as they launched their attacks without any worry of facing consequences.

I could take out a few of them while I was just chilling and watching from the sky. While they possess respectable speed and strength, their flying capability doesn't add much value other than making them more like expendable pawns.

After spending some time soaring through the sky, I figured it was time to touch down. I began my stroll through the heart of the city, where a fierce battle had recently taken place.

"This battlefield is intense," even though I didn't see anyone who was alive, I could still sense the raw desperation for survival etched onto their faces, frozen in time.

I couldn't help but notice the pile of corpses, a macabre blend of monsters and humans that had gone unnoticed before. Although I can sense there's something in it, it's not very clear.

I decided to give it a try, so I reached out with my right hand. One by one, the metals coated my fingers, feeling surprisingly flexible. The process continued until it came to a halt, stopping just at my upper arm. I love the combination of the bright red surrounding the white color. It's such a striking and eye-catching contrast.

"I personally don't think there are any humans hiding there, but I think it's definitely worth investigating to find out for sure."

As soon as I uttered those words, a tiny hole appeared at the tip of my finger, and a beam of light resembling a laser shot out from it. Since there was no response, I decided not to hurry.

The stack of bodies started to burn from the inside, growing larger and larger until it eventually caused a massive explosion, scattering body parts in every direction. Fortunately, the sound was slightly muted due to it.

"Ughh... it's so hot... damn it!...why did all the bodies just suddenly explode...Argkkk…"

Out of nowhere, this massive creature came charging through, its body engulfed in flames. Even as he rolled on the asphalt, the fire within him stubbornly refused to be put out.

"Fuck!... whoever did it, I'll make sure they pay! Don't run away yet!... arghkkk..."

"So, a monster, huh... well, that's quite disappointing."

Just to clarify, I don't anticipate coming across any humans. If it were a regular person, they would have definitely been burned to a crisp. I was kind of hoping to come across something a bit more interesting. I recall that the Monster Association had quite a few formidable individuals in their ranks.

Once the fire on its body died down, the monster's form became much more visible. When I mentioned his big body, I was actually talking about his pot belly, which caught my attention.

"It turns out it was you, human!... did you come from a different direction? Because no one survived after encountering me."

Just by glancing at him, I could tell he was a pretty formidable monster. However, when I compared him to the Gouketsu I battled at the stadium, he seemed to be on the weaker side.

After mentally evaluating the situation, my excitement took a nosedive. I didn't bother replying.

As if it could sense something strange, the monster didn't just become alert but instead became angry.

"You Bastard! You burned all my food, and now you're acting like it's no big deal?"

"Oh, so that's what you were up to in the pile of corpses earlier," I casually remarked.

"Aren't you bothered by your fellow human corpse being eaten by me?"

I was puzzled by his lip-licking and predatory gaze, and it only served to dampen my excitement, leaving me feeling increasingly irritated.

"Don't you feel like going on the offensive? Now's your opportunity to launch a couple of attacks before I completely take you down in one swift move."

The monster let out a booming laugh, clutching its belly in amusement. But suddenly, it abruptly halted and charged straight at me. He's way more brutal than I expected, but still.

"You are really weak..."

The monster, seemingly provoked, wasted no time in picking up its pace. Despite his big belly, he manages to move with surprising agility.

I barely did anything besides lifting my leg a bit, and right when the monster was within my grasp, I swiftly unleashed a strong, sweeping kick to its stomach. However, I got snagged by something.

Out of nowhere, his round belly burst open, exposing a set of razor-sharp teeth that seemed eager for a meal. As I peered into the depths, I couldn't help but be consumed by the chilling darkness. The gruesome sight of scattered flesh and limbs gave me a haunting glimpse into the monster's insatiable appetite for human remains.

I executed a swift kick, suspending it in mid-air. In a split second, my body vanished and reappeared just a short distance away from my opponent.

"Hahahaha, you're pretty good, human. If I had just a bit more, I could totally devour you and turn you into a source of protein for me. You'd be a tasty addition to my stomach, no doubt."

The monster's grin stretched across its face as I reacted with a mix of surprise and curiosity. However, deep down, I wasn't truly caught off guard by its impressive abilities. I wasn't even looking at him.

"What's she up to?" I spotted Mizuki's figure not far away with my keen eyes. As she got closer and closer, she was definitely running as fast as she could.

I was surprised when I saw her holding a long baton as if she was ready to pole vault. This monster has absolutely no idea what's going on right under its nose.

When he realized, Mizuki had already leaped high into the air, her baton shrinking in her hand as she propelled herself towards the monster.

As she landed with her legs parallel, it was clear that she had her sights set on the monster's pot belly. She was determined to hit her mark with precision.

Mizuki swiftly landed on top of him, catching him off guard. The sheer force behind her completely took me aback, as the monster's stomach was instantly torn open and punctured.

Walked towards me while fanning her feet, which were covered in the monster's blood. It was obvious that she was feeling uncomfortable. She couldn't help but notice the abundance of human body parts mixed in with the monsters around her.

"What about Lin Lin? Why are you alone?"

Mizuki took a moment before responding, needing to catch her breath and collect her thoughts. As she began to speak, she became a little less aware of what was happening around her.

"I had the good fortune of meeting some members from the Blizzard group who team up with other pro heroes. I reckon she'll be in good hands with them."

When I wanted to ask why she came back here, a sudden earthquake shook the ground beneath us. The windows of nearby buildings shattered instantly, filling the sky with a perilous glimmer. Even after Mizuki and I decided to go somewhere else, we could still feel the strong vibrations.

"K-Kaiser... what the heck is that?" Mizuki, who typically exudes confidence even in the most dire circumstances, is now visibly afraid. She couldn't help but be shocked as her eyes widened at the sight of one of the towering buildings in the heart of the city.

Out of nowhere, this monster that looked like a cicada suddenly showed up. The sheer magnitude of its size looms over the city, creating a shadow that stretches far and wide. I couldn't quite make out the end of his body, but it was already coiling around the skyscraper.
