Chapter 9 - JUSTICE PREVAILED

OMNISCIENT

"Are you hurt? Did something happen to you?" A worried Khayr frantically checked Marwa's body, she even placed her hand on Marwa's forehead to feel her temperature.

Marwa kept getting the looks after they came out of Turad's main office, where nobody had ever stepped foot. The guards left the place earlier when they came out, the two wanted to deal with Marwa but one look from the prince made them back out. She told him to stay behind for a minute till she went out because she could not deal with the unnecessary attention and weird looks from people.

"I am not hurt and nothing happened to me. I am Marwa, the girl with a fearless nature," She laughed and Khayr let out a sigh of relief.

"Wait! How did you get past those guards?" Khayr asked.

"I kicked their asses," She shrugged.

"I never knew my friend was that strong, I love you, girl," Khayr exclaimed happily.

Slap!

It all happened in a swift motion, leaving Marwa with no time to protect herself. A young doctor walked up to her and gave her a resounding slap, people who were watching the incident gasped.

"We do not tolerate sluts in this hospital. How dare you enter the prince's office? You violated the law and justice will be served. I'll make sure you suffer the consequences, wretched intern," Raihana thundered furiously.

Raihana Abubakar Bako is Turad's girlfriend who he just respects because of his mother who persuaded him into courting the girl. She is the daughter of the Secretary to the king, Abubakar Bako. Raihana works in the hospital as a neurosurgeon but acts like she owns the hospital, she shouts and screams at everyone, even the patients sometimes. But because she is good at her job, everyone obeys her. The doctor even has some minions, one of whom was in the cardiology department went to tell her the trending gist and so here she is, venting her heart out.

"And who the hell do you think you are? How dare you raise your hands on me?" Marwa's cheeks were puffed, she didn't let the girl's tall figure intimidate her. Marwa took advantage of her wearing heels and matched her left foot, making her groan in pain.

She then grabbed her ear and twisted it hard, the girl's once fair face yawed red, and all her three minions were afraid so they did not interrupt, Khayr who was trying to drag Marwa was pushed and she fell to the floor with a thud.

"What is happening here?" Turad questioned, he was now dressed in his lab coat.

The crowd that formed all started disappearing one by one, all of them happy that someone dealt with the queen bee today, everyone hated her with passion.

"Prince, I don't care if this is your hospital or not but I must teach this woman a lesson. Tell her not to mess with Marwa Kabeer Hassan again," Marwa intentionally kicked the back of her knees and made Raihana kneel. Now, even Turad widened his eyes in shock, the girl in front of him turned out to be wilder than he thought.

"Tell me what happened," He demanded in a serious tone.

"Dr Raihana walked up to Dr. Marwa and slapped her then called her a slut and wretched intern, she even said that she will suffer the consequences," Khayr rambled without hesitation, earning a glare from Raihana who was kneeling in front of everyone, the embarrassment was too unbearable for her to stand up.

"Dr Raihana, you know it is against the rules of this hospital to start a fight, everything here is done professionally. And yes, what is the punishment for the person who does that?" He crouched down to her level, barely able to stifle his laughter when he looked at her red face.

"Turad I—" She started in a cat-like voice before he cut her off.

"It is Dr. Turad Ibn Harith Baghdad. And I asked you a question," He used that authoritative voice she hates and he knows it. Turad has been wanting to politely get rid of the girl but she loves him blindly and always finds reasons to get closer to him, if not for his mother, he would have ended everything in a heartbeat because he does not love her.

"It is one-week suspension, Dr. Turad," She stuttered, the words leaving a bitter taste in her mouth.

"Good. You have been suspended for one week, Ms. Raihana Abubakar Bako," He trailed off and inched closer to her ear then whispered with a smirk,

"Our relationship has also come to an end," Turad smiled happily, thanking Marwa silently for giving him a silly reason to part ways with the inferno whom he had never considered as a girlfriend.

"What?" She choked, her eyes blurring with hot tears that were threatening to fall.

"Sorry about what she did, Dr Marwa," He smiled at Marwa who grinned triumphantly.

"It is no problem," Marwa answered and helped Khayr up. Everyone was beyond surprised, what no one had managed to pull off in the past three years, an intern did effortlessly.

"Don't you all have work to do?" Turad's voice boomed and the staff left one by one.

Raihana was sobbing hard, she was still incredulous about the whole situation. Verily, Marwa is dragging herself to the pit of hell. The daughter of the secretary to the king will make life a living hell for her and that is for sure. She just broke up with the only man she had ever loved and so, Raihana made up her mind to ruin the dear intern's life.

"Now that justice has been served, it will start making a spot for me in your friendship list," Turad confidently uttered.

"Stop being so sure of yourself dear prince, I am not the easy type," She grinned sassily before dragging a surprised Khayr to the cafeteria.

"Marwa, you are brave. That doctor is the prince's girlfriend, and everyone who tries to challenge her always ends up getting fired but today, you made justice prevail. What did you do to the prince? Maybe you have some special superpowers behind that cute, innocent face of yours," Khayr pulled her cheeks and the girl glared at her.

"So he is her boyfriend which was why she slapped me? It must have been hard for him to tell her that but he did, turns out that there is a royal who can be just," She thought with narrowed eyes, not wanting to admit that she was in the wrong to have judged a book by its cover.

When they entered the cafeteria, people started clapping and shaking Marwa's hands as if she had gone on a military mission and made it back alive and successful.

"You have no idea how everyone is tired of her tantrums Dr. Marwa,"

"Thank you for your strength, you humbled the witch,"

"We really appreciate,"

She just gave a strained smile at the doctors. If anything, she hates attracting attention. Marwa felt like it was just her being her but she didn't know how happy she made them feel. Everyone admired her courage to stand up against injustice, she earned respect even from senior doctors.

"Do they hate her that much?" Marwa whispered to Khayr who was smiling widely.

"Hmm! I may have started working here last week but I know almost everything and they despise her," Khayr gossiped.

"You really seem to know everything, huh?" Marwa laughed.

"At least now I have someone I can have a causerie with, let's go and grab our lunch," Khayr giggled and dragged her friend.

Upon sighting different mouthwatering dishes and junk foods, Marwa's stomach growled and she giggled. The moment she heard that it was a serve-yourself kind of lunch, Marwa placed two hamburgers, one plate of French fries, five boneless chicken nuggets, and two bottles of chilled Fanta on her tray.

"What is it?" She asked Khayr who was looking at her in horror, Khayr just went for a chicken wrap and a bottle of Sprite.

"Are you going to eat all that?" She pointed at her tray of food that four normal people can eat and remain some.

"A girl like me needs all the energy," Marwa shrugged and sat down on a chair adjacent to the window, the girl didn't give a damn about the looks she got from people. Khayr sat opposite her and they started eating in silence till her friend broke it.

"So, tell me more about yourself,"

"What do you want to know? I am a Hausa-Fulani girl who studies hard and lives her life working to take care of her family. I have my mother and my sister, the only family I would go to any lengths for, I am a three-hundred-level student at BUK, and the first semester will start after the internship. Let's just say I can change sometimes but don't be afraid, you are my friend after all. And lastly, Marwa hates royalty," She bowed dramatically.

"Wow! You really are a strong woman. I am impressed. But how about your father?" She asked just as Marwa tensed, a topic she kept avoiding for the past fifteen years.

"God loves him more," Marwa answered with a sad smile, determined not to cry when she remembered how her father cared for all of them before he died in a tragic car accident.

"I am sorry about your loss, may his soul rest in peace," Khayr placed her hand on Marwa's, the said girl just shrugged it off with a smile and downed the first bottle of Fanta in one go.

"Ameen. Enough of me, let's go back to you," She changed the topic.

"Okay, I don't like saying it aloud because it may look like I am boasting which I hate but my father is the minister of works and infrastructure, Abdulrahman Adam. My mom owns a non-governmental organization, I am the only child but that does not stop me from being talkative," She chuckled.

"I can't believe I am talking to the daughter of a minister. Khayr, you are so humble and down to earth," Marwa finished her food just as her phone pinged. She brought it out from her lab coat, only to see an unknown number texting her.

Mur: Good job, you did great in making sure justice is served. And sorry for my outburst yesterday, I let my emotions get the best of me but I promise to be on my best behaviour next time. Don't ask how I got your number, I am the creepy jinn from hell after all. *laughs*

Marwa could not help but grin at the message he sent her even though she had no idea how he got to know about the fight, it still felt good to know that she had some people on her side. Snapping back to reality, she quickly saved his number as creepy jinn and started replying to him.

"Is the stalwart friend of mine blushing?" Khayr teased.

"I don't blush," She frowned.

"All the cardiologists, you are urgently needed at the operating room twelve," Turad announced as someone fixed his hand gloves, he was in his office eating lunch when he overheard that a five-year-old girl had been diagnosed with aortic valve stenosis and needed an operation.

He does not operate on patients younger than fifteen and even if they were older, they must be in the luxury ward. But today, he kept his food aside and sprinted to where he overheard the doctors complaining that his assistant who normally conducts the surgeries of such patients couldn't make it today so he decided to fill in for her, he wanted to do it.

"Seems to me like the prince is changing, I need to go, bye," Khayr left her lunch halfway and followed the rest of the doctors.

Devil's sister: Tomorrow sounds good, see ya.

Zafeer smiled at Marwa's message that just came in, he couldn't believe that the girl whom he had almost given up on was now his friend, the only person who knew something about his past other than his family. Yes, he saved her name as the devil's sister because she was way too dangerous when he first approached her.

"Did Marwa cast a spell on you or something?" Junaid walked in with a guard trailing behind, the guard was holding a silver metallic box in one hand.

"I am not chatting with that flathead girl, you got me?" He sassily spoke with that impeccable British accent of his, the guy was way too happy.

"I will tell her that, do not worry brother. Anyway, take this," The guard placed the box on the table and left.

"What is it?" He asked in an uninterested tone.

"Mr. Ambassador, the president said it is high time you resumed duty and yes, this is your yearly allowance, the one that you said I should safely keep for you even though it was hard for me not to tamper with the cash. An attorney should always be honest," Junaid grinned and opened the box which contained sixty-five thousand dollars, he wanted to use the money on a project he was currently working on so he told Junaid to keep it for him.

The president loves Zafeer as though he is a son to him. Because of the half-Arabian prince, the relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia has strengthened. The two countries don't hesitate to provide each other with great support in times of need.

"Looks like I relaxed for too long and the man wants me for something again. How about those apartments in the suburbs, who are the investors that made good offers so far?" Zafeer asked.

"Many of them that I can't handle because I am not a calculative businessman like you. Zafeer, you really should start going to the office, everything is in its perfect condition there," Junaid nudged his cousin.

"You mean you even hired my assistant?" Zafeer asked.

"Of course," He grinned.

"Then that is it, I will start going to the office tomorrow. I can use that as an excuse to get away from that arrogant old man," He happily thought, referring to his father.

Junaid felt sad for both the father and son, they love each other but one was trying to protect the other from harm, not that the latter could see or even appreciate it. The only person who can put an end to the supposed hatred of Zafeer to his father is the Crown Prince himself, but he needs someone's help to do that.

"Aye aye, Your Majesty. Now, I can finally deal with the affairs of my law firm in peace," He cheerfully clapped like a little boy.

Zafeer was delighted that the next day, he was going to meet the devil's sister who seemed to be his only confidante now. He felt like he could trust her with his secrets. So the next day after he finishes his business at his real estate firm, the guy will finally visit his girl so that they can chat like normal people, she doesn't work on Wednesdays and Fridays in the restaurant.
