Chapter 23 - Ridding the Currents

''Fck is this what in the actual fck is this'

As the group cursed the giant rushed forward at an astonishing speed the groups expression darkened as the giant grew ever closer

Adeline shouted ''lets move toward the edge of the log''

As the giant grew closer the group shifted bracing for impact boom the log split in two as splinters and mud flew about on the edges of the the now separated log

The group held on tightly making shore not to let there hands slip as they spun about in the river the giants head turned he then grabbed the two spinning logs and threw them downward

wush wush

The logs flew downstream at a horrifying speed someone then screamed out ''how in the actual fck are gonna survive this much less kill the bastard'' while screams and complaints echoed out the giant in the water stretched open its arms

Boom!

Their bodies collided with the water causing the water to splash about the logs had been turned into fragmented chunks by now the group swam forward frantically

Host energy is now in the negatives host can only do intense activities for the next hour if host goes past this threshold there will be significant amount of damage done to the body

[energy] (- 5)

Host has been given a shot of adrenaline due to the current situation

Tristan didn't need the system to tell him his current situation he knew that his body was drained of energy and he could only go on for an hour or so but hearing that he had gotten a shot of adrenaline he thanked the system in his heart as

He swam over to Simeon who was laying on his back he helped him up and then checked on how the child was doing he saw that the child was only wet he thanked Simeon as they were pulled along the rivers flow

The rain fell heavily impairing the groups vision, the river grew terrifying as the currents flung them about Tristan held on to the child tightly but not too much to harm the child

She looked up at his weary and tired face she stretched out her hands and touched his face he looked down and let out a smile he then looked back up focusing on the rivers flow

His body was tossed around he tried stabilizing his body in the rapid currents but his attempt was futile his body tossed about like a ragdoll

Time passed quickly and an hour had passed Tristan energy bar was now deep into the negatives

[Energy] (-15)

Host energy limit has been reached note anymore Physical activities will damage the host body

Upon hearing this message Tristan's vision began to darken but with share will alone he swam over toward Trevor upon seeing that Tristan was swimming over he quickly took the child out of his hands

Adeline seemed to have sensed the rapid decline in Tristan's energy as she swam over and held him up, he soon fell unconscious, but Tristan wasn't the only member who lost energy a few more soon fell unconscious

Luckily they were saved by the person next to or near them the group struggled against the terrifying flow of the water trying to pull them under

Roar the stone giant roared out shaking the river but the group didn't have time to bother with the idiot someone shouted out ''why don't we just cancel the mission its just a side mission after all'' the group members all agreed

Side mission kill the stone giant cancelled

New mission survive for the next 24 hours note mission cannot be skipped due to the current circumstance

The group thought that this was a better mission than killing the stone giant as the water flowed and dragged the group along a huge tree suddenly fell from the sky

Boom!

It fell across the river forming a bridge or blockade of some sort but it fell behind the group so they missed the opportunity to get out of the river

However they didn't care for what happened behind them for they were tiered and needed to rest they all had weary expressions on their faces their heads bobbed up and down

Tick Tock Tick

By now they had fell down multiple small and large water falls because of the momentum of the river, their bodies were flung outward causing members of the group great pain upon impact, they almost died a few times but they managed to push through it

The group had spent almost 5 hours in the cold river water while simultaneously being bombarded by the rain, Tristan woke up from time to time showing that his energy was recovering but at a very rapid pace

Adeline who was holding him was astonished at how fast his energy was recovering, the pores on his body opened and closed absorbing the surrounding air, his chest rose and fell rhythmically, his body grew warmer and warmer with each passing minute

Tick Tock Tick

5 more hours had past Adeline was no longer holding on Tristan's body, he was glowing a faint red, steam rose around him as his body floated on top of the water

Host acquired skill [Seamless Breathing] host can absorb oxygen through the pores of the body host can now breath under water by absorbing the surrounding oxygen through the pores of the skin

Host has acquired skill [Temperature Regulator] host can regulate the temperature of an object upon contact or the bodies temperature to fit the current environment

As the notifications were announced in his head Tristan woke up slightly but soon fell unconscious, in the blink of an eye 20 hours had passed

The sky had cleared up revealing the the pitch black night sky with the stars showing like diamonds reflecting light, the group was tired and by now the river had calmed down

Making their tense body relaxed somewhat, someone almost fell asleep when they suddenly squealed out, ''Leg cramp'' but as he reached down to hold his leg his back stiffened his hands then his other leg

His entire body was cramped, he stood their with his body bent at weird angles, similar screams rang out one after the other, the group had fell down many big and small waterfalls they also nearly drowned many times due to exhaustion

The area they were at was pretty calm so they tried there utmost to reach shore upon reaching shore they laid sprawled on the ground

Their bodies convulsed violently as the stress from earlier sank in there bodies were now completely relaxed as time passed and the night grew darker

Muffled moans and groans could be heard, the muscles of their bodies contracted in some way shape or form but there were a few that didn't have it bad like the rest of them
