Chapter 23 - 11

Fu Xi's company intended to break fresh ground and organized a meet-and-greet event for the game to take place in July.

The date happened to fall on the first anniversary of Linlang's and Fu Xi's reunion.

Fu Xi's birthday was on the 9th.

The considerate girlfriend wanted to prepare a grand birthday party for Fu Xi and his fellow brothers were quick to rise to the task.

A group of people made plans in secret.

Fu Xi's close friends now acknowledged Linlang from the bottom of their hearts.

They were extremely against it in the beginning, but after getting along with her, they discovered that she was nice, amicable, and shockingly capable. She also had standard criteria for her spouse. Sister-in-law admired men who were wise and level-headed. The boss's suicide tactic only served to push her further away. Fortunately, the two people were destined to walk together.

Perhaps Linlang's performance was too perfect. Fu Xi always chose work over his girlfriend, which made his friends dissatisfied. He also seemed to have an unclear relationship with his secretary, and everyone clamored to speak up for Linlang.

From start to finish, Linlang patiently calmed them down. Her character was neither anxious nor hot-tempered. She was like a spring breeze and everyone subconsciously came to view her as their pillar. Her charm was such that it faintly overshadowed the workaholic male lead.

During this year, Xie Yaohua ridiculed Linlang, but he also turned out to be the one who protected her the most.

Because of Yang Lu's constant mistakes, Fu Xi had to clean up her mess and wasn't able to spend as much time with Linlang. As the capable cadre, Xie Yaohua naturally became the flower envoy in charge of making Linlang happy.

He had delicate features and his appearance was just like the little brother next door. When he acted cute next to Linlang, the whole world seemed bright and sunny. People who didn't know thought they were a beautiful pair of siblings.

He also accompanied Linlang to visit the Fu family elders.

Although he was taking care of his sister-in-law on behalf of his brother, it didn't really appear that way.

This big boy who still harbored his first love clearly remembered Linlang's menstrual period. He knew her shoe size was 37, and that her height was 1.7 meters. She had a penchant for sweets and didn't like to drink coffee. When picking up the spoon, her pinkie finger would stick out slightly. She was as graceful as a well-bred lady from ancient times.

She always shows an interest in red matte lipstick and lately, she's been obsessed with the dusty rose shade.

Every time Yaohua walked past the sales counter and saw something suitable, he would buy it and place the item in her handbag.

Linlang never asked who got them and used them without any trouble.

Her closet was full of clothes he hand-picked for her. Some were bought when the two of them went window-shopping while others were gifts she received without her noticing. Each article suited her temperament and figure to a tee. It must be said that his eyes were quite sharp.

Fu Xi called and told him to bill everything to his account.

At the time, Xie Yaohua simply smiled, but the receipts continued to pile up on his side.

Later on, Fu Xi got busy and forgot all about it.

He never said he was still buying luxury goods for Linlang in Fu Xi's name.

Xie Yaohua had almost become a frequent VIP for those high-end female clothing brands. As soon as a new product came out, the boutique owner would inform him and he would go over to pick out suitable pieces then bring them back. He removed the tags with great care and would neatly hang the clothes in Linlang's walk-in closet.

He knew Linlang's taste and preferences very well. Please read this at onemachineshow.blogspot.com

Nowadays, Xie Yaohua fell in love with cooking and Linlang was his only taste tester.

In order to find inspiration, Xie Yaohua dragged her around to stroll everywhere with him.

They went to small and unknown shops with amazing food that were hidden away in the long alleys of historic towns. The shops had snow-white walls with pitch-black tiles and exposed corridors. Their food's flavors were undoubtedly kissed by the years of time.

He had good luck and Linlang got to enjoy many delicacies.

Thanks to his superhuman power, he could find mysterious places that weren't even marked on the maps. Linlang once heard that this guy had a poor sense of direction. She didn't know whether it was true or not.

It could be said that unlike the male lead who was constantly busy, Xie Yaohua, who was like a playful little brother with a sharp tongue, was more of a sweetheart. The time they spent over the phone at night was more than the time Fu Xi spent with Linlang in total.

Mother Fu felt very uncomfortable with what she saw, but she couldn't say Xie Yaohua was doing something wrong. After all, he was following Fu Xi's 'order' to take care of Linlang.

Do you scold the person for doing the job too well?

What was this all about?

Fortunately, her son said their relationship was stable and that the two planned to get married after graduation.

Mother Fu's chaotic mind finally calmed down.

Linlang was an educated and well-rounded lady. She got along well with the Fu family and Grandpa Fu was anticipating his granddaughter-in-law joining the household. The couple needed to get started as soon as possible.

Although she was Fu Xi's girlfriend and the future had many variables, the Fu family was determined to recognize her as the next Madam.

As for the Yang Lu some people talked about, the elders did not attach any importance.

On the night of Fu Xi's birthday, Linlang took charge.

"It's almost eleven o'clock now. I'll go to the meet-and-greet and secretly bring him over. A Hua, you're responsible for informing the family. Remember to bring them safely or else I'll make you look good."

"So scary, is Sister-in-law going to eat me?" Xie Yaohua pretended to be frightened and his widened eyes. He was like an adorably frightened chinchilla.

"Don't make trouble. Believe it or not, I will hit you!" The woman directed a smile his way and the light in her eyes was ever more brilliant. She pulled her hair back and the string of exquisite rubies dangling from her ears contrasted beautifully against her white and slender neck.

"Got it, Your Royal Highness. I promise to complete the mission!" Xie Yaohua watched the pendants he picked the day before sway gently on their owner's ears. He let out a soft chuckle before performing a military salute.

A few buddies teased him for being too intimidated. Whenever he was in front if Sister-in-law, he turned into a docile big cat. He was never this cooperative before.

Xie Yaohua was all smiles and didn't get angry.

The present is the present, the past is the past. How could it be the same?

A sweet smile hung on Linlang's face. "It's up to all of you when the time comes. Don't let me down!"

"No problem, Sister-in-law!"

"Great Aunt doesn't need to worry!"

Xie Yaohua escorted her downstairs. He placed a jacket over her shoulders with practiced ease then moved to the side to flag down a taxi.

"Wait, you've got some lipstick on your face."

"Do I? I must have rubbed it on the way down."Please read this at onemachineshow.blogspot.com

Linlang took issue with this and thought to rummage through her bag to get a face wipe and hand mirror.

Xie Yaohua smiled, "Why trouble yourself? Don't let the taxi driver wait too long."

Bending down slightly, he pressed his thumb on the corner of her dark red lips with a touch so lithe, it could flit over the clouds. The eyes hidden under his fringe darkened as the mark was gently wiped away. A candid smile appeared on his face. "Okay. Pay attention to safety while on the road."

The attractive young man who wouldn't harm animals or humans alike had a way of lowering people's guard.

No one could have known that in his heart, a bad wolf was covetously eyeing its prey.
