" And one more thing Elsa, never forget the power you have as a 100% human. You might not be strong without your wolf or dragon but humans have been proven to be the most intelligent being alive, use your wisdom, emotions and will- power wisely. " Zaria concluded.
As wonderful as her words sounded, I didn't think I understood well. Anyways since she and Raphael promised to be by my side, I had a little bit of courage. Courage to do what I was destined to be, destined to be the Alpha that no one expected.
" I wanna eat" I announced. All this whole drama was making me hungry. " Whose hungry?" I asked expecting a ' Me! ' yeah' but they all looked at me like I was the weirdest person they have ever seen.
' Can you cook?' Zoe asked looking at Raphael's face before asking.
" The destiny of the werewolves rests on your shoulders and you are talking about food?" He asked obviously trying to contain his anger.
I didn't fidget this time, I walked up to him majestically twisting my waist. When I got close to him, I saw how small I was standing beside him but whether he likes it or not, I am his leader. This sounded so amazing that I almost said it out loud if not for the mean look Raphael had on his face. I stood at akimbo, seperated my legs apart and opened my mouth ready to talk.
" No matter how strong one is, at some point you need to refuel your strength by eating whatever gives you strength. For humans, it's food, for vampires, it's human blood and for werewolves it's whatever you eat. O sorry, whatever we eat! So eat so you can fight well, besides all those transformations have drained the little strength I had left." I seriously didn't know where the courage came from, to talk to this man who hadn't smiled since I met him like this.
" Werewolves eat flesh of any animal except humans of course, whether cooked or not. But since we are here, I'll cook. Besides we are now responsible for protecting and training you." Raphael spoke loosening his upthight face.
Zaria chuckled and I wondered if this werewolf could really cook.
" Can you cook, keeper Raphael?" Zoe spoke exactly what was in my mind.
" Tell the owner of the inn that I offer to cook today." He said suddenly turning to leave.
Zoe and I just stood there watch him leave as neither of us refused to make a move. Zaria moved to the window and sat on the window looking up in the sky and at the same time looking deep into the forest. One could tell she missed home.
" Come assist me, Zoe." Raphael barked suddenly turning back to where we were standing. Zoe ran to meet Raphael and they both walked away. My attention moved to where Zaria was sitting and I joined her.
She smiled at me as soon as she noticed me sitting beside her. " We've always had issues with the weredragons as far back as I can remember. We didn't feel their impact that much because we had Gwa and the keepers to always hold them back. But things changed when Gwa became so weak. It was later discovered that he had been poisoned with silver the only element every werewolf dread. Nothing hurts more than the betrayer from a loved one. Sham and I grew up together, so we had this thing for one another. Although as werewolves, we were fated to one mate, that special person that fitted perfectly into the Missing part in your heart. The humans refer to it as one's true love! We enjoyed each other's company and gradually, I found myself falling for him. We were both keepers so it was quite easy for us to spend time with each other. The keepers were distinct from the others, in the sense that we all had brown furs with purple eye. I can't really explain why it's that way but my point is that we didn't mingle too well with the other members of the pack because we spent most of our time training our wolves. Few months after when I confessed how I felt to him, the then Alpha announced that they were mated together. I couldn't understand, and I was hurt! But at the end I let go of him since he was sure that my cousin was the mate for him. It hurts even more to see that he betrayed the whole pack to walk with the weredragons to kill Gwa. I would never forgive him and I will make sure he dies a slow painful death in my hands." She hissed. It was obvious she was pained but there is nothing either of us or anyone else can do about it. He probably had his reasons and he must have thought the path of walking with t e werewolves was more beneficial to him. Everyone had the chance to make a choice, but one thing I am sure of his that every action taken comes with a price and a reward, wether good or bad.
" Isn't there a way to resolve this hatred between the two weres? I'm sure they are suffering as much as your kind is, only that they now have a upper hand because they have a werewolf?" All I could think about was peace, I knew what war could do because I was a survival of one. Not that we actually fought with anyone, but we had an enemy without hand or leg; FIRE. It destroyed everything I held dear, so I understood what it meant to loss a home and get seperated from love ones.
" Apart from Gwa, you are the only talking about peace. When Gwa tried it out, it ended in a fierce battle between them. So, my dear it would take a lot of sacrifices and deaths to try to achieve something like that." She responded indirectly asking me to forget that option.
" How do werewolves Know their mates?" I asked suddenly interested in how the wolves loved.
" You know what? Let's ask Raphael together, am sure he would give you a satisfactory answer and besides you need to learn to relax around him. He wasn't always like that, the stress of everything made him this ' not nice' " she said smiling.
" This would be the best way to start achieving that, dear Alpha." She said winking at me.
" Could you tell me more about the weredragons?" I asked curious about what these creatures were like.
" Apart from the fact that they annoy the life out of me? Especially their Princess! " She hit her already folded fist on her tigh. I will tell you later, looks like food is ready! " She said turning her eyes to look at Zoe who just entered the room smiling.
" My ladies, dinner is served." He said bowing slightly.
I couldn't help but chuckle at his cuteness.
"Let's go!" I said as I stood up and grabbed his hand.
When we got to the large hall, there were few people there occupying some of the seats as they all waited to be served this special delicacy made by this handsome young man.
Werewolves looked were actually beautiful humans from the outside and one could hardly tell there was something extraordinary except when they were angry. They tend to show some of their features such as the changing of eye colour and sudden appearance of fangs or claws. I wonder how I you look like when I'm angry. Would I have the feature of a wolf or a dragon?
Occupied the only available table and waited for our turn to get served. The owner of the inn was doing the serving while Raphael stood with his hands folded and his back resting on the cabinet.
It was soup of beaf chopped in bits and spiced deliciously. Long story short, it was not like anything I had tasted and it was very delicious. I grabbed my spoon and dug into the meal consuming everything on my plate in less than a minute. I looked at Raphael who was giving me the ' I told you' look, and gave him a thumbs up demonstrating how much I enjoyed the meal. I saw a little flash of smile which didn't last up to a second. Every other person too was impressed by how well a man could cook but I was sure he used one of the werewolves magic ingredients. It was impossible for a person to cook this well. Although Madame Hornet was a good cook, Raphael's cooking beat hers ten time.
As I rounded up my sixty plate, Zoe came to me with a soup of bean sprout and some loaves of bread. I almost screamed I love you as I pulled him to a hug. It was surprising that with all these plates of mean I had eaten, I still craved for more. Don't blame me, blame the. Dragon and werewolf in me.
