"Elena Oakwood!" a male elf shouted and there were murmurs all around. The name Oakwood was like loyalty to Elves due to it being the name of the first elvish king. The name was passed down to every child on the father's side that was his descendant. A red haired young female elf stood up and walked to the front.
"You are twenty years old now, Elena, and in accordance to the laws given by the first King, you are to be tested for magic affinity," the male elf said with a small smile in his face. Elena nodded. He pointed at a crystal ball on a red cushion. "All you have to do is release control of your mama and the ball will do the rest."
'Yeah, can't do that. A little of infinity is still infinity, if I let go then this empire will be gone in a Mana Catastrophe,' Elena thought to herself. But, she still out her hands on the ball before letting out left over mana flowing from her be absorbed by the ball. Immediately, the ball shone with all kinds of dazzling lights before it broke down and to dust, leaving everyone flabbergasted.
'Oh God, I wanna hide myself,' Elena thought in embarrassment. The crystal ball, an artifact made by the first Emperor of the Elves, destroyed due to her overflowing mana, basically her refuse!
"Uhm...This...What!?" The instructor was just as confused as everyone else at this occurrence. He did not know how to interpret it but one this was for sure, the ball could not have been destroyed if the girl in front of him did not have an overwhelming amount of mana.
'Does she have more than mine?' he asked self consciously.
"Does this mean I pass?" Elena asked the instructor who nodded absent mindedly. 'This is troublesome.' She went back to her seat as she started thinking deeply.
She was twenty years old at the he moment, basically not even a teenager according to Elvish customs. Her family, the Oakwoods, belonged to the first Elvish King's name and thus, their descendants. For millenniums, Oakwoods have been one of the many vassal kings for the Elvish Empire till one of her ancestor, heavily addicted to betting, lost the crown and the right of his descendants to inherit it in the future. However, she he Oakwoods were still considered loyalty due to the First King and so, they were not eradicated like any other family would have.
Of course, this might be due to the fact that not a single talented figure has appeared in the family for years thus the current vassal family tolerating them. However, with her appearance and her talent, even though it was not even a percentile correct, she could be considered a threat to them and thus, she would expect them barking on her gates soon.
However, she was not afraid becaue of her power. As a reincarnated person, she figured out she had a golden finger that made her into a truly broken character; she had Almighty Magic, which basically meant she had infinite mana and she could use it for o bend reality to her will. However, the fact that gods exist in this universe and took hey are like billions of years older than her, billions of years worth of experience over her, made her stop from trying to make everyone her slave.
As she was daydreaming, the sorting was ongoing and so, every little elf had known what their affinity was. Basically, affinity meant elements. There was fire, water, earth, lightning, air, time, space, life and death. A talented mage would have two elements and the most, three. Those were known as Ark Seedlings because they had the potential of becoming Ark Mages. Due to her breaking the crystal ball, the examiner had to use primitive methods of discerning their affinities through injecting his own mana into their bodies and making his own conclusions. Due to this, there was bound to be a mistake somewhere so everyone but Elena were not on the clear on which class to go to.
"You are Elena Oakwood, right?" someone said from behind her while she was walking out of the hall. She turned around and saw a handsome elf boy glaring at her. Looking at the crest on his uniform, he saw a hydra which was the emblem of the Acacia family, the family that took Oakwood family's throne and rights.
"That is me," Elena answered neutrally.
"So you are the one that made my sister not show off her talent, huh? Just a nobody in a barely functioning ancient family. Listen, if you apologize to my sister then I won't make life difficult for you," another boy beside him said, hatefully. Elena looked at the boy and was amused. His mana signature was barely a speck of dust compared to hers that she did not register him in her brain, the way one's brain ignores unimportant stuff all the time.
"I guess you are right, your sister is quite talented," Elena said before starting to walk away. "But against a truly capable person, she might as well hang herself in shame." She smiled as she felt a huge source of maglna coming round the corner. The boy flew into a rage then charged a fire based spell and threw at her a flickering fire ball. However, the fireball flew through her and hitting a well dressed elvish middle aged man. The fireball, however, puffed out of existence pathetically once it hit him showing just how lacking the boy was. He himself had his eyes widened in shock seeing her just attacked an illusion then in horror recognizing the person he just hit.
"That was the most pathetic display of magic I have ever seen in all my years as this Institute's Principal. Such a student is a shame to us all and thus hereby rusticated at once!" the man thundered, his white hair bellowing in non-existent wind while his eyes shone with power. The entire building suddenly rumbled before the boy just vanished, never to set foot in the school ever again. The principal was about to speak some more before he looked at Elena, who had appeared leaning on a wall watching the show.
'Is she the Oakwood heir that broke the Scrying Crystal? Such talent, I can't even see her mana signature, just her dregs and it is overwhelming! Just what kind of monster have the Oakwood created?' he asked himself in shock. He then turned to the crown prince of the Res Kingdom. 'So he wanted to antagonize her because of what he heard. Seems the royals are getting bolder, having spies among my staff is unforgivable. Perhaps it's a good idea to get browny points from her.
"Brent Acacia, two weeks detention for causing a ruckus during freshmen sorting party," he said before walking away. Brent Acacia could not argue with him so he could only turn to the person he could handle.
'I'm gonna make you regret this!' he mouthed, threateningly, at Elena who just gave her a sweet smile and they both walked away.
