Chapter 8 - A Friend Indeed

"Saim, where did you suddenly go in the afternoon?" His mother asked worriedly as he entered the house with his father and brother.

"We have caught your baby on the highway, mom," Before he could say anything, Daim told me.

"What? On the highway? How did you get there? The highway is quite far from here," She looked worried.

"No need to worry mom, I reached there just by walking," Saim tried to satisfy her.

"Still son, doesn't go that far on walks, conditions outside are very bad these days," His mother explained to him.

"Come on wife, Why are you so worried? He is not a small child anymore. Let him get used to taking care of himself. Already, he intrudes at home all the time. By scaring him from the outer world like that, he will stop leaving the house altogether," His father stopped his mother from scaring him from the world. He was already disgusted by his cowardly nature.

"Mom please put dinner on the table, I'm starving," Daim held his stomach and requested his mom. enemy mine the habit of me,

"Dinner is already served on the table, come, let's eat," Mom grabbed Daim by his arm with love.

Saim and his father also followed them.

After so much running, he was also very hungry. So he also sat on his reserved seat at the dining table and started eating with his family members.

"By the way, Saim, you are amazing. Most of the time you never leave home and when you do, you forget the way back," Seeing him eating quietly, Daim teased him.

He didn't respond.

"Tell me one thing, what were you thinking when you went so far?" Daim continued to tease him.

"Okay enough, Daim, don't bother him, let him eat properly, and you also finish your meal quietly," Mom scolded Daim.

"I was just worried for Saim, mom, that he is half mad already lest he goes completely mad due to being lost in thoughts all the time," Daim shrugged.

He didn't feel bad about Daim's jokes today at all.

As soon as he got up after eating, the Azan for Isha prayer started. He turned to the mosque, performed ablution and prayed in congregation.

After performing the prayer, he felt his body light and his mind calm. All the bad effects on his mind from today's accident were gone. He was just thinking about that kind friend who had saved him from those miscreants.

After offering prayer, he came to his room, opened his diary and sat on his writing chair.

"Today my day was out of routine. The beginning was as beautiful as the end was terrible. I learned a lot of new things today. Among these, the best thing was the knowledge related to prayer. Because prayer has completely changed my thinking. Perhaps, it gave me a positive thought. What happened to me in the evening, If it was any other day I would be screaming in pain at this moment, but now after praying, I'm satisfied.

I think everything is for the best. Fighting with those obscenities has opened my eyes. Now, I always feel that someone is protecting me all the time from evil and this feeling encourages me to think positively.

Earlier, I felt everyone laughing at me, but today I feel that everyone is my benefactor.

Maybe I had this thought in my head that everyone makes fun of me and no one cares about me. But today, on the contrary, I found everyone to be my well-wisher.

Earlier, I used to feel my Father's criticism of me because of my staying inside the house all the time, and his hatred towards me, but today I feel that same criticism as my correction.

Earlier, I thought my brother was making fun of me, but today I felt he was making fun with me.

Hence, It is proved that it is our way of thinking and understanding that makes us happy and sad.

If we have the habit of being happy, then even the smallest happiness in the world can fill our hearts with joy, otherwise, if we have the habit of being sad, so even if the whole universe is gifted to us, we do not try to smile."

He closed the diary with a smile and went to his bed and fell asleep.

Today there was chaos in the school. Everyone was busy preparing for the annual function to be held in the school. Various competitions in different categories were held at this event.

Due to his introverted nature, he usually used to take holidays from school on such days and prepare for annual exams at home. But today, against his will, he had come to school and was watching the students working hard for the competition.

He was still sitting in the class watching Miss Sehar's younger sister Savera pacing the room preparing for the speech contest.

"So after I refused, she was asked by Ma'am Samarah to participate in a speech competition on behalf of our class," He spoke of himself.

"That is why Ma'am Sehar was driving me away from the office that day, so her sister would get this opportunity," He was still talking to himself.

"Well, who cares, thanks to Ma'am Sehar who saved me from that headache," He smiled to himself while watching Savera pacing like that for the competition.

"Why are you laughing at me?" Savera was already upset by remembering that boring speech, seeing him laughing at her like this, her anger rose towards him.

"I was not laughing at you at all, I was just smiling to myself," He told her.

"But you were looking at me when you were smiling," Her anger rose.

"No..., I was lost in my thoughts, so when a person is lost in his thoughts he had no idea what is happening in front of his eyes," He calmed her anger.

"Hmm..., Hold it for me, I'll be back in five minutes," She handed him the speech page and left the classroom.

He likes Reading. So he started reading the speech to pass the time. He was quite fond of literature. He did not particularly like the speech written for Savera.

"Give it back to me," Savera reached out to grab her speech page from him.

"Do you think, that you can win the competition with this speech?" He asked holding out the page to her.

"I have no hope either, but what can I do? There isn't any other option," She wasn't too optimistic either.

"You can't search for options, but you can create options," He motivated her.

"What do you mean? Do you have any better option?" Suddenly her tone changed.

"Well..., I can try to write a better speech for you," He offered her.

"Seriously?" She sat beside him.

"Yes... I can," He smiled

"Hmmmm..., that's why Ma'am Samarah approached you first for the speech competition. Please write it for me. If I won, I will be forever grateful to you," She pleaded to him.

"I'll try my best," He smiled.

This was the first time in his life that he has promised to help someone. He seemed satisfied. Indeed, he was gradually changing his nature.

"There were four of them and you alone. If they had caught you, they would have killed you," He was walking out of his class towards the library when the sound of voices coming from the stairs caught his feet.

"So would I have ignored him, seeing him there alone in the clutches of those miscreants?" This voice was familiar to him.

"But risking one's own life for the sake of another is not bravery, but stupidity," Someone said.

"Okay, what was supposed to happen is happened, but now you need to be careful of those idiots, Mahir, they are very dangerous. If they came to know you had thrown stones at them to save Saim, they would not have left you alive," Mahir's friend warned him.

"Hmm, So he was Mahir, who helped me to escape from that rascals, last night," Saim thought and went from there. He got his answer.
