Back at the Mei palace, disciples were restless on figuring out how to get Jinghua and Bingwen out of the trench. Eventually, Madam Yusheng, angry as ever, showed up. "WHERE THE HELL IS MY SON?" She barged into the main hall of the palace. Yuming ran up to her. "Mother, please, I'm sure Bojing is fine. Right Hung Meifeng?" She questioned, looking back at Hung Meifeng. Hung Meifeng rolled her eyes. "If anything, this was probably the fault of my brother." She said, glancing at Hung Liang who was sitting at a tea table. He watched as Madam Yusheng left the room in a hurry to ask for help. He chuckled and stood up. "It ain't MY fault your brother is disabled in his brain! Poor guy can't even remember his own friend."
Yuming clenched her fists and walked over to Hung Liang and slapped him hard on the cheek. "STOP SAYING TERRIBLE THINGS ABOUT MY BROTHER! You idiot, selfish! You're nothing more than a child!" She ye lled at him. He grabbed her wrist and put his other hand around her waist. Hung Meifeng stomped her foot. "Rong! Let go of her!" She said, He looked at her with an evil eye. "I've had enough of you ordering me around!" He told her. Yuming struggled to get out of Hung Liang's grip. A stomp of a foot came from the doorway of the room.
"Enough! Let her go!" It was Wing Shen. He had his sword in his hands. Hung Liang's face went sour as he let go of Yuming, making her fall to the floor from loss of balance. Hung Meifeng went to help her as her brother walked over to Wing Shen who stood firm and tall. "What do you want, human?" Hung Liang questioned. Wing Shen crossed his arms. "How dare you grab a lady like that without her consent! The best you could've done was kiss her hand." Wing Shen said.
Hung Liang got up in his face. "And What are you going to do about it?" Yuming yelled at the two. "Will you cut it out? I'm fine! Just surprised. Young master Hung, you should be thankful that my brother and young master Ning helped you. You could have caused their death and your own!" A disciple from the Yusheng clan ran up to Yuming and bowed. "Lady Yusheng, we might be able to get the young masters out of the trench but it might take a few days."
The trench was cold as if there was a draft blowing from the different caves. But that gave Jinghua an idea. He stood up from off of the ground. "What are you doing?" Bingwen asked, looking up at Jinghua. "There's a draft. So obviously there's an opening somewhere in one of the caves. I'm going to see if there is one." He said. Bingwen got up and followed. The two walked out into the middle of the trench. There were fourteen caves in all, and the biggest one was where the creature was. "There's a small breeze coming from that cave." Jinghua pointed to a wide cave but it got smaller the farther you looked into it. Jinghua started to walk towards the cave. Bingwen grabbed Jinghua's arm. "Wait! W-What if someone comes looking for us?" Jinghua turns to him.
"We're caved in here. There is no one coming for us." Bingwen let go of Jinghua and looked away in guilt. Jinghua didn't mean to be so aggressive. "Look." Jinghua continued. "We're going to get out of here either way. Just trust me, okay?" Bingwen looked up and nodded his head. In a way, Bingwen was truly like a child, without his memory or not, he had always been scared of a lot. Scared of the unknown. He grabbed onto Jinghua's sleeve, his other hand on Baiyu incase of an attack. Jinghua didn't mind. He lit up his sword as they entered the cave. And it indeed got smaller the farther they walked into the darkness. It was awkward silence between the two for the first few minutes inside the cave before someone spoke up. And it wasn't either of them that spoke. I was the voice of a woman. "Who's there?" Jinghua asked. A ghostly figure lit up in the darkness, providing enough light for the two. "Who are you?" Bingwen said, drawing out his sword. The figure was indeed a spirit but of a woman. She looked more terrified than Bingwen and Jinghua did. "You two are trapped too? Like I?" She spoke. The figure came closer but stopped. She looked disappointed. "You're alive." She said, "Do you have a name?" Bingwen asked. The girl crossed her arms. "I do. But isn't it proper for men to address themselves first?" Bingwen let go of Jinghua and bowed to the spirit. "I am Yusheng Jin, eldest son of the Yusheng clan and future leader." He said, "This is Ning Cheng, eldest son of the Ning clan and future leader."
Jinghua bowed to the spirit too. The spirit girl smiled and bowed to them as well. " Yu Tong. My name is Yu Tong." She said. Bingwen took a step near her. "How did you get here?" Bingwen asked. The spirit's smile disappeared. "I died here! What do you think? You'll probably be dead soon too! Who knows when that monster will wake up again. She knows you're here, she's hungry and wants food. She knows you're still here!" Yu Tong told them. Jinghua spoke up. "Wait, you said 'She'? As in the creature?" The spirit girl nodded her head. "That creature is a legendary beast that was cultivated into this world by the Mei clan. It was supposed to help their fields and crops but betrayed the clan. People think that these tunnels were for safety but their really to trap the creature here until she dies. But some how, there were two creatures. But the other one is dead now!" She said. Yu Tong began to float away. Bingwen watched her spirit figure. She had no legs and her dress was torn. She looke about their age, maybe even younger. But why would there be a girl down here if all the miners were men? "Wait!" Bingwen said. Jinghua grabbed his arm firmly. "Let's not try and get ourselves killed just yet by engaging with a spirit!" He said. Yu Tong stopped and said in a deeper, more annoyed tone of voice. "What more could you want?" She said, Bingwen escaped from Jinghua's grasp and ran towards her. Jinghua was getting annoyed. "I just have a few questions for you, miss." He said. Yu Tong sighed. "If your wondering how I died, that's hard for me to share. But if you want to know anything else, I don't have many answers." She said. "Do you know the way out?" Jinghua asked. "I've explored these cave for a long time so yes, I do know. And you chose the right cave. But It's a long way. Just follow me. But if I help you, I deserve something in return." She told them.
Jinghua and Bingwen followed her through the dark tunnel, hoping and hoping Yu Tong wouldn't lead them somewhere besides the way out.
