Chapter 10 - ......shank you!

I have had a long discussion with my team about which implants and cyberware should I get. After long discussion filled with swearing and weird arguments we have decided to focus on reflex and endurance improvement. We wanted to consider improving my strength but we lacked enough money for that and had to go for safe hormonal muscle growth boost.

So first thing I will get is Pain Edditor. This was one of the most expensive implants I will get but it has a lot of benefits. Firstly, it allows me to tank more damage and helps to prevent getting shock from pain caused by injuries and wounds, roughly saying it is my endless supply of painkillers. Secondly, it helps to increase chances that my future implantation operations will go much smoother as it strengthens nervous system overall. So rehab will be shorter. Finally, it allows me to train, work and etc. for longer as my pain and fatigue endurance will be improved. This will be very handy now and in the future as I plan to increase my training load as well as work for longer shifts in order to payback company fast.

Next one will be subdermal armour. This one going to be a bit tricky. Subdermal armour can be considered quite light and durable but still I will have to carry extra weight which I will not be able to easily get rid off. This is why it is advised to have strength enhancement via implants or hormonal therapy. But, I am not really worried about it since I will have enough time to rehabilitate so I can quickly get used to it. This will alloy me to withstand a lot of damage, not the Adam Smasher level of course but still for me it will be great boon. This will be it for endurance enhancement.

Now, my reflex enhancement will include three very useful implants, Kerenzikov, Reflex Tuner and Microrotors. Kerenzikov will boost my reflexes to such extent that I can perform slo-mo for short period of time. Classic. Next one will be my secret trump card, Reflex Tuner. This can increase my decision-making and reaction time to extreme level in dire situations. It has a drawback similar to Kerenzikov as it pushes CNS (Central Nervous System) to extremes while in use and can not be used non-stop or too often.

However, thanks to pain editor my body will not only quickly adapt to it and allow me to use it at 100% efficiency in no time, but also allow me to use it a bit longer and more often. In the worst case scenario Pain Editor will protect my CNS so that instead becoming a vegetable after burning down my nerves I will just get paralyzed in parts. Not the worst deal, especially at Night City.

While Microrotors much simpler and just boost speed without overburdening CNS like other two. But still every little helps and it will create good synergy as it allows to move muscles faster. It is mainly for melee specialists but in my opinion quick movements important not only for them but for others as well.

And for a change I would get Kiroshi Optics Mk3 as I good eyesight is good and x8 zoom with AR features even better.

This may not seem much but there are mainly two factors limiting my cyberware. Money is one of them but another one is very important. More than even money so you must understand how important it is - Cyberpsychosis. The chances of going cyberpsycho increase with every implant so Trauma Team has a clear limit on how implants you can have. Moreover Trauma Team employees especially us see much more violence than majority of people and that can lead to increased chance of cyberpsychosis due to increased stress and other psychological problems. So for us cyberware and implantation is very important and strict matter. I also had no desire to end up half man-half metal....thing with high chance of becoming butchering machine. I value my humanity and if possible want to die having more flesh than metal in me.

Now let's go and see my doctor-ripperdoc.

To my big surprise it was Jorg dressed in surgery gowns and with weird Edward Scissorhands glove.

"Finally, my beloved teammate and acolyte of Way of a Scrooge is here" - he smiled and waved at me with his scary knife-glove.

"Out of all medics I got you."- I sighed.

"Yeah, who if not me can perform such an important thing. And since I am your EMT I can keep an eye on you to ensure that everything have gone fine." - he said still scaring with his metal claws that will make even wolverine cry like a little bitch.

"Now get on operational table and let me shank you!" - with shit eating chagrin he pointed at operational table surrounded with screens and other stuff.

"Jorg, are you sure you have swore medical oath of a doctor? Or at least do you still remember parts of it which says try not to harm a patient?" - I sighed and got on a operational table.

"Can't remember, I was so drunk that I got back to my senses only few days after ceremony. But I remember I read it, well maybe. I was more busy reading label names on bottles with some heavy alcohol at student bar when med school send it to me."

"I will not be surprised if you just bought your certificate."

"How dare you?!! Do you know that faking certificate such as mine will costs much more than actually studying and working for it. Now shut up. Operation will start soon. But after you wake up I have to give another lecture about our way of a Scrooge seems all that money made you wander off it." - he roared and then injected something into my neck slowly making me fall asleep.

"Hey before I get knocked out please turn on Chippin' In since this is my first big operation."

"As you wish. But that will cost extra since you lack music subscription service in your insurance card. Just 100 eddies for 24 hours."

"Jorg, I hate you..."- I muttered losing conciousness.

"Ha, good old love-hate thingie. Now will you fucking knock off? I got an operation and tight timetable."

I tried to show him middle finger but half way I got finally lost in darkness. Well, welcome to new level.
