Chapter 5 - A New Tradition

Leo looked at the three scrolls in front of him in slight bewilderment, thinking to himself."Generals?" He hadn't even known that you could even get summons like this, but he was grateful nonetheless. He asked out loud to the system,"System, what do the generals do?"

[Lord Leo, Generals are known as special summons. The lead armies and have a better grasp on how to utilize armed forces better. Generals are not only for the armies however as their are a wide variety of Generals for the lord to summon and are generally found through chests and quests]

Leo mused at the funny thought of one day having an entire army made entirely out of generals. That would be a funny site to see. Then he asked the system,"How many troops can each general lead?"

[Generals leadership capabilities are varied. Like what Sir Bu explained earlier, the higher the grade the more troops they can lead. They can field more troops with each rising grade, and if they possess a weapon that can give them power above their grade. Just like production workers they also have a low, mid, and high tier in between their specific color grades]

Leo nodded his head in appreciation, understanding the straightforward and simple explanation of the system. Curious as to how the boxes work, he asked,"System, can you tell me how each box corresponds to the different color grades?"

[Certainly, Generally the boxes are ranked according to what grade they could give the lord. They are as follows:

Wood - White and Green

Stone -Green and Blue

Bronze - Blue

Iron - Blue and Orange

Gold - Orange

Silver - Orange and Purple

Platinum - Purple

Diamond - Purple and Yellow

Obsidian - Yellow and Red

Ancient - Red]

Leo mused at this, the world he now inhabited seemed to have very ironed out rules. To Leo it felt like this game must've gone on for a long time, to be so smooth in how it went about introducing the game to new lords. Curious to this question that lingered now that he had thought about it he asked,"System, have other lords ruled in this world before us earthlings?"

[Yes, Lord Leo. Your planet, "Earth" is the 579th planet to be introduced into this world. After the last lord has fallen, the world is reset and a new planet is chosen to take its place.]

Leo sucked in a sharp breath, unable to even think about the hardships those previous lords must have faced in this cruel world. Leo wasn't the smartest person around but even he knew that what the system meant was that 579 planets had come to this world to test their strength, and 579 had failed. This could only mean that harsh trials and tribulations awaited him in the future, and that maybe he did need to be overbearing to pass this storm.

Leo steeled his mind and pushed forward, not wanting to think about this depressing topic anymore. Leo grabbed one of the blue grade general scrolls and put it into the cubby hole. Just like before the metal ring glowed a faint blue and a person appeared before him. Leo wasn't going to summon all 3 generals at once, as he figured that was probably overkill for the amount of troops he had at his command at this moment.

The new person stepped down from the summoning area and kneeled in front of him, saluting him much like the soldiers did, but with more grandioseness. Leo nodded and asked,"What is your name general?"

The new general responded with."My name is Ash my lord. I am a low blue grade general"

Leo chuckled and said,"Well, I don't mind you being a low blue grade as my army is just starting to form and we only have 10 soldiers at this moment. That reminds me, how many soldiers are you capable of commanding?"

Ash responded,"I am capable of up to 50 men my lord, however they must be blue grade or lower in order for me to command them properly." He looked a bit ashamed when he said this, and Leo didn't know if this was bad or good for his grade.

Leo simply shrugged and said,"Ok, it is almost night, So go meet the soldiers and familiarize yourself with them, we will be attacking a Crystal Hoarder nest tomorrow and we will need to get all the help we can get."

Ash nodded and then saluted once more before leaving the recruitment center. Leo walked outside after storing the other scrolls in a scroll holder for future summons. It was slowly becoming evening and Leo was exhausted both mentally and physically after today. He went into one of the rooms that was being built and asked if he could sleep for the night there. The carpenters had completed 4 of the rooms so far and they said he could, so he fell onto the patchwork temporary bed and fell asleep.

Leo woke up the next morning to find that his people were still working tirelessly, though they seemed to be in much better moods than yesterday. He went up to Ash who was watching the soldiers run through some combat drills and asked,"You know why everyone seems so… happy today?"

Ash nodded and responded,"Yes, it's because one of the production workers, the miner I believe, has some cooking skills and so he is currently making some food with the beef that you have given us."

Leo's stomach then grumbled at the mention of food and he realized that he hadn't eaten dinner yesterday. But who could blame him? He was so tired from all that had happened that it just didn't occur to him. He, Ash and the rest of the soldiers all went to a long table that the other production workers were sitting at and got comfortable in their individual chairs.

Leo then saw the miner and one of the farmers bring two giant pots while another farmer brought a sack that he held behind his back. The miner then cooked the food in front of everyone and as Leo sat at the head of the table he was naturally given the first dibs.

The food the miner had made was a hearty beef and pork soup with some fresh bread and water on the side as appetizers. Leo watched as everyone talked happily with each other and he smiled as he was enjoying himself too. Leo had been stressing everytime some new piece of information was given to him about this world and now that he could see the smiling faces of citizens he felt a little more at peace.

As they started to finish their meals, Leo stood up and went to make a small speech. With a smile on his face he said to them,"My people, today is only the second day of our adventure, yet seeing you all eating and smiling happily moves my heart to no end. I would like to keep this tradition going for as long as possible, so I shall decree that from now on, we shall dine in the morning together as one family!"

Leo's people were a little moved by his sudden speech and they all stood up and started yelling,"Long live the lord! For the territory!"

They all sat down to finish their meals after celebrating the lord a bit and Ash had a questioning face. Leo asked him what was wrong and he asked."Yes, sorry my lord, but I just realized I haven't even heard the name of this new settlement yet."

All eyes turned towards Leo as they realized they hadn't heard yet either. Leo thought about it for a moment and then stood up once more and said,"To Fallen Star City! May it prosper!"

Leo got another round of applause and everyone then finished their meals one by one. Leo was kind of proud of himself as he had thought of that name on the spot, under the expectant eyes of his people. Leo didn't have the greatest naming sense but he still tried to make it a 'cool' sounding name.

[Lord Leo has officially named his Territory as 'Fallen Star City'. All new summons will recognize the prestige of this name. Congratulations Lord Leo!]

[After the completion of naming his territory Lord Leo has unlocked the Advisor scrolls, the Cultural scrolls, the Faith scrolls, and the Economic scrolls]

Leo was slightly taken aback by the sudden new information after he decided on the name on a whim. He was sort of proud though because he really hadn't done much and he kept unlocking new and interesting stuff.

Leo then remembered something he hadn't checked out yesterday, the Market. He asked the system to open this market for him to view and a holographic screen appeared before him, showing many items that were available to purchase for what seemed like random prices.

Leo saw wood chests and food that were being sold for 100 stone and some that were being sold for a green grade blueprint. Basically the prices were all over the place and there were literally billions of offers everywhere on the screen in front of him. Confused, he asked,"System, What is the market and why are the prices all over the place?"

[The market is led by the lords of the world. The lords put their goods up in the market and set a price that other lords can buy or bid on. All prices are set by the lords selling the goods and some can be negotiated down to a lower or higher price depending on if the lord has tagged that item as [Auction].]

Leo mind raced with the possibilities of the market and he started to think about how he could gain the system if he used his innate skill. Leo started to browse the market, looking for wood and stone chests that he could buy with units of stone. He had around a 1000 to play around with so he wanted to see what he could get.

Leo ended up buying 3 stone chests and 10 wood chests as well as 10 white grade military scrolls. Unfortunately there was nothing else worth buying, as it was either garbage or way overpriced, leaving Leo with 300 stone after his buying spree. Leo quickly ran up to the recruitment center and summoned the 10 white grade units and sent them to Ash to train with the green grade troops.

Leo knew that compared to the green grade troops they wouldn't be much, but he needed as many troops as possible for the upcoming Crystal Ant raid that was happening later today. Then Leo got down to business and started opening his newly bought chests.

[Innate skill Midas Touch has activated]

[Wood chest opened - Gained 10 Green grade scrolls (production)]

Leo was happy with his rewards and had a couple of questions about some of his rewards but decided to hold off until he got his stone chests unlocked.

[Stone chest opened - Gained 1 Blue grade Territory Upgrade scroll]

Leo was nearly over the moon when he saw all that he had gained. He was especially happy that he had gained both an Orange grade unit and a Blue grade Territory upgrade scroll! It seemed like his innate skill would never fail him!
