I felt my skin crawl as I saw the expression on some of the males around me. It feels like they would eat me alive.
"Still, we don't promote violence. There will be cameras installed around each room. It will be monitored for 24 hours every day by our security personnel. Each of you will also be given a distress watch. Just click the button, and help will arrive. However, this is only limited to violence. This, of course, includes any sexual advances. Every night, there will be guards stationed in front of every room. They will be ready to enter at anytime a report is made," miss Ella continued.
Thank you, I guess? The goal is to make our lives intolerable, huh? This is unbelievable. How am I going to function under such stress?
"This will hone your stress-management abilities. You have to function to the best of your abilities under such circumstances. Of course, if you manage to form a good relationship with your roommate, then it would be good for you. Speaking of, if the two parties consent, the cameras will be removed inside. The guards outside will also be removed if both parties wish to do so."
A choice between privacy and safety, huh? What a policy.
"Of course, there is a way to make this favorable to you. That is to win the trials. There are twenty of you who will compete in this trial. There will be ten winners and ten losers. The winners will also be ranked from first to tenth. The student who ranks first will get the right to choose which person they will share the room with and what room they would want to live in."
Damn it! In short, those who lose will have to deal with whatever trash picks them. I think this is extremely favored by men! I don't think any girl here would want to share a room with a man! Is this sexist? I feel that it's sexist.
Before miss Ella could continue, a girl raised her hand. She had tanned skin, bleached hair, and a sharp look on her face.
"What is it?"
"What's in it for the girls? I mean, these pigs will want to share a room with us, so either way, they win. What about us? We want our own space!" she took the words right out of my mind. This is good; I wouldn't have had the guts to say it.
"I get your sentiment. However, the Paragon Class is working on the basis of no stereotype. Who are you to say that those men will not be uncomfortable with girls around and that those girls would not like having men around? Do not answer me with 'it is obvious' that will not end well for you. I am sure you believe that men, women, and other genders. If so, why should you be protected from men? Why shouldn't they be protected from you? " Miss Ella answered.
"Because!" the girl said. However, she failed to follow it up immediately. I can understand her, though. What miss Ella said was pretty well-rounded. She cannot claim that they will assault her since there are already measures provided to combat that.
"Let us take a quick survey, then! I am sure all men would want to have a female roommate. This will prove my point!" the girl added.
I could not help but sigh as I saw the look on miss Ella's face. Despite being a look, I could hear it saying, 'This idiot!'
"All men who would want to be in bed with a woman here, raise your hand."
As expected, no one did. This is not just to prevent the rule from being abolished. Granted, a lot of them are probably pigs, but the other men are protecting their image. Admitting the girl's claim would basically be them admitting that they are pigs.
"You! How hypocritic! You guys are disgusting!" the girl exclaimed.
"Hey, who are you to talk? Do you really think it would be a pleasure for us to be with a b*tch like you?" a guy with red hair and a scar on his right eye said.
"You! How dare you call me a b*tch! Miss Ella, he should be punished for his words!" the girl declared with a triumphant face.
Miss Ella let out a big sigh, but before she could say anything, Zeke spoke.
"Madison Jensen, right? Let me ask you this, miss Madison. How come you are allowed to call us hypocrites and disgusting, but we are not allowed to comment on you? Why don't you look into the mirror and reflect on what happened before you make an official motion to strike a fellow student?" Zeke said in a calm manner.
"Who are you to interrupt!?" Madison shouted in rage. She completely avoided the question, alas. What is going on her head? This is ridiculous.
"It does not matter who I am. I would not have been so childish as to play in this pathetic act of yours, but I would like to take this opportunity to remind all of you not to engage in official actions without much consideration; because if you do so, the consequences would be devastating," Zeke added with his still and calm demeanor. However, the sharpness in his eyes is clearly visible.
"That is true, miss Madison. The Paragon Administration will turn a blind eye to your petty little fights, but once things become official, at least one will suffer judgment. With that being said, too much time had been wasted. I was informed that you are the brightest we could find. Clearly, we could have done a better job. Now, let us begin with the rules of the trial," miss Ella concluded.
