We all got to class and settled down, we were having Economics that morning but the teacher got sacked that morning, he wasn't teaching well, most times he'll just write notes and leave without explaining. Students complained to their parents, parents complained to the school administration. He wasn't even of good behaviour, he seemed proud and very arrogant. I'm glad he's no more here. We were all happy, we never liked him anyway, so we were free for two periods until civic.
My classmates were busy chatting, taking pictures and making noise. I sat alone, my head on the table, my eyes weren't closed but I kept thinking about the new guy. He was so dreamy, I've never thought of any of my seniors like that before but, this guy caught my heart. I was distracted by the chat going on between Nina and Comfort. They were talking about the boy, describing his features and comparing him to our other seniors.
"His face especially, his jawline, oh Lord!!" Nina said faking a faint.
"I know right, he's dark and tall with perfectly shaped eyebrows and his not too big lips. That guy is an Angel" Comfort said dragging Nina's shirt.
I was just laughing at them, while the guys in my class could only eye at them feeling envious and jealous of the new guy
"They've never talked about us like even when we came newly" Lekan said with his head leaning on his hand. Comfort heard what he said and replied
" Are you that handsome? Don't deceive yourself"
Lekan laughed devilishly "I'm much more handsome than him" he said confidently.
The whole class went silent for three seconds and then we all burst into laughter . We laughed so loudly that it attracted a teacher's attention in SS2b
"What's going on here?"
"Nothing ma!" we chorused
"Control your noise" she said and left
"Omo, that your statement carry power" Nina said still laughing. Our laughter hurt Lekan so much that he didn't utter any word throughout the day.
Everybody resumed their normal activities till the free period ended. Our civic teacher came in immediately the bell rang. She never wastes time to enter a class once its her subject period .
The class was so boring as usual and we nearly fell asleep but the short break bell came up and we were brought back to life.
"Ma! Your period is over!" we chorused.
She looked at us irritated. "I don't blame you, when you don't have respect for your parents how would you have respect for your teachers?"
We all started complaining and murmuring until she left the class.
"Why would she start judging our characters just like that as if she was our parents" Lola said while eyeing and frowning.
"Don't mind her, lets just go" Comfort said and grabbed Lola's hand and the left the class.
Sitting and smiling at everyone, I recalled that senior Temi told me to come see him during short break. The break was for 20minutes and 5minutes had gone already. I was contemplating on whether I should go or not because I didn't want to see that new guy again and embarrass myself.
I was cracking my fingers, that's what I do when I'm nervous. Then finally i stood up and walked out of the class looking at the stairs i hesitated as i was about to get put a foot on the stairs.
Why was I so nervous? I don't know him, he doesn't know me and my presence wouldn't matter. I was lost in my thoughts then a voice woke me up.
"Hilda, take this and give it to The SS3A teacher" my civic teacher said as she handed me a register. I collected it and she left.
"Oh damn! Now I have no choice but to go there".
