The next morning, Varya and Basileus got ready together as usual, but there was a heavy silence between them as Varya felt the pressure of what lay ahead.
After Basileus finished getting dressed and putting armor over his navy blue spandex, he went up to Varya who was standing at the counter. He placed his hands on her shoulders, gently pressing to try and ease the tension from her body.
"Whatever it is, it's going to be alright," Basileus assured her. "I'm going to be there with you and so will Ebari. It's not as if the advisors have any real power other than trying to tell you what to do."
Their eyes met in the mirror.
