Eventually, Emperor Kruos did call.
It was early in the afternoon and Varya had just gotten out of the shower. She was towel drying her hair when she heard the communication on the computer start to ring. Knowing she didn't want to be seen by the horrible monster, she decided to stay in the bathroom and wait. After what the tyrant did to the prince, she wasn't sure if she could hold back her words, which would only make the situation worse.
Basileus came from his training room and answered the communication.
"Yes, my lord?" he asked in an indifferent tone.
Varya wondered how he talked so politely to someone so cruel. Emperor Kruos's voice alone caused a visceral reaction in her and goosebumps always rose on her skin. There was something about that alien that made her feel trapped even if he wasn't around.
