The surroundings were coated with the scent of crimson.
The crimson mist partially fogged up the view. But, for how far one could see through the mist, they could only see countless dead bodies laid in the puddle of blood.
Some of the dead bodies even began to decompose. They were infested with parasites, worms, bacteria, and other disgusting stuff. This indicated that a massive war had happened there.
But for the massive war to occur on an unimaginable scale it was rather eerily quiet. It was quiet to the point if one would drop a pin Its sound would echo throughout the crimson valley of dead bodies.
There was no trace of a living being except worms, parasites, etc. Those were the only living organism that could be found there.
Aside from this, rivers of blood were also formed. The rivers were deep enough to drown multiple people stacking on top of each other.
If we observe the dead bodies closely we could observe a similar pattern of attacks and weapons that were used to kill all of these beings.
Most of the bodies had their body parts cut off and large deep stab wounds at fatal points which could only be done by a heavy greatsword.
If observed anyone would also notice the damage was done in a hurry that could be said because the damage was only done to fatal parts of the body not a bit of damage could be seen anywhere else.
These wounds suggested the person who was fighting them was trying to preserve the energy of something big. He was trying to get out of the mess as soon as possible.
Sword wounds weren't the only thing that was too obvious to notice. It was magic wounds, some of the bodies missed their body parts. They weren't cut off by any weapon. If it was done by weapons we could see the wound but it wasn't the case.
There were no wounds in the area where the body part was missing. The wounds were completely healed as if that particular part never belonged to that body.
And if we talk about the body part, it was nowhere to be seen in the surroundings. It completely disappeared.
Some of the bodies had everything intact. Their bodies looked completely intact from the outside. Their bodies looked completely safe from the outside. They didn't even have a single scratch on their bodies and a wound that would a thing of the far future.
There was a catch even though they looked safe from the outside they were missing their major internal organs like the brain and heart.
The inside of their organs had also disappeared same as their outside. The disappearance was similar to the outside, nothing new could be seen.
All of these small details indicated that all of this damage was a single person. And who was that person? we would know if we squinted our eyes and looked into some distance, we could see blurry silhouettes of some people.
"What did you gain after fighting against me, Reus?" Hades stared directly at him with his melancholic eyes.
Hades appeared to be an old man, in human age he would appear to look in his late 80s. He had wrinkles under his eyes surrounding his face. He had ruby-colored eyes from which he was crying blood.
He had multiple swords piercing his chest from those swords the blood was slowly oozing out. It was surprising he was able to hold onto his dear life for this long.
His physical appearance looked like that of a very fragile old man who was on his deathbed. He had skinny hands which almost resembled a branch with wrinkled skin on his body. He looked like if a normal person hit him hard enough he would say goodbye to his life.
He didn't look like a person who would single-handedly kill all of these people, but surprisingly he wore really heavy, thick, and fancy-looking armor. He was on his knee because of the weight of the armor. He had a firm grip on the hilt of his thick and heavy great sword whose tip was buried in the pile of bodies. It surprisingly indicated that he was the same person who had caused this chaos.
"There is no point in telling a person who is on his deathbed," Reus replied with an arrogant tone.
He stood tall and mighty with his arrogant demeanor. Unlike Hades, he looked like a man who is in their 20s. He had pale bright skin with glittering long silver hair. He wore blinding golden armor-clad. He had ocean-like blue eyes. He also had sharp facial features. He could be called an example of handsomeness. He was pretty tall.
"Tell me, why did you backstab me!? I thought of you as my little brother, then why?" He asked him repeatedly.
His words conveyed sorrow. He never thought that someone who he had kept dear to his heart would break his trust. His voice was shaking not only because of immense rage but also because of grief of losing the trust. He still couldn't believe the fact that he was betrayed by his comrades.
"You have already exhausted your life force. There is no need for me to tell you anything anymore." Reus said.
His words were emotionless they did not have a shred of emotion behind them.
"Your greed has led this land of peace to be the wasteland of bodies." He wailed.
He grieved more when he looked into his surroundings and saw what his kingdom had turned into. The place he nourished and grew into the land of peace was turned into a wasteland. Everything he had done until now had gone to waste he couldn't save anything not even himself.
He had an enormous amount of rage inside his heart but what could even do? He was powerless. He could do nothing more than watch himself lose his remaining life force each second. He was barely able to cling to his life. He knew it was just a few moments before his life would vanish and he would perish into the void.
"Reus, I would have never thought that you would get help from those bastards."
