Chapter 22 - Euphoria Throws a Party

Michael and Michaela had time-jumped again, and it was 2099, January 1st and they knew this given the crowd of real humans and not Holographic projections that were present at the Times Square with staffs that radiated bubbly lights and neon outfits that were spread across every breathing part of this city.

It was a beautiful sight to behold and Michael, a little more enthralled than his sister, said, "Whoa! This is beautiful".

He put his hands on his face as he wore a 'Ben Affleck Smile' on his cheeks.

Michaela was herself lost in the presence of this breathtaking scene that surrounded her and she smiled, too. The world really did have some happiness in it after all and she was delighted to have seen it.

Still in awe of this sight, they time-jumped again and were in another large city somewhere in Asia. They immediately looked around and saw Asian-looking faces dancing, talking and smiling.

"This is China.. we're in Beijing" Michaela said to her brother who was right beside her.

To their left was a gigantic figure that was plated with steel and other unrecognisable materials. It was about 11 feet tall and 4 feet wide. It looked like a weapon of war given its size and weapons that were around its body.

To their greater surprise, the helmet on this "Transformer" figure came off and an Asian man came out from the body which opened horizontally to let him out.

"What manner of technology was this? If there was ever anything like super soldiers, this must have been it" Michael thought to himself as he gulped and stared at his sister's face.

A lady in her mid-twenties brushed off Michael's back from behind unintentionally amdist the ecstatic frenzy in the air.

"I'm sorry." She said as she turned her face towards Michael who appeared to be lost in her unearthly eyes that looked nothing less than a Rainbow's glow. She had all these colours in her eyes and it just made her more beautiful to his eyes.

Michaela, who already noticed this scene and her brother's overwhelming love or lust, hit him in a bid to get him off this dopamine arousal.

"Ummm.. yeah, it's no problem" Michael said as he wore a smile so wide she could count all his teeth in one stretch.

"Michael, something is off. We have to go now" Michaela said to him.

"Can I just have a little time to you know… mingle and stuff? I'm years into the future, a little romance and kiss shouldn't hurt" Michael replied with a face that appeared to have been bewitched.

"I think it's 2099 and you're not up-to-date with the whole hitting on someone thing and you trying to is definitely a bad idea, and only if we don't time…"

Before Michaela could end her sentence, they had time-jumped again to the top of what appeared to be a freezing mountain from which they could see the cities and beautiful places that surrounded this height.

"So, we're in the 22nd century, I guess" Michael said to his sister in a Joker's face.

"No… we aren't. And that's what worries me. We're still in 2099.." Michaela said with a puzzled look plastered on her face.

"What date is it?" Michael asked as he looked around with a feeling that something was unusual.

"It's March 4." Michaela said as she looked down towards the ocean that appeared to be mirroring itself. This was weird and Michaela was freaking out.

Michael, on the other hand, was looking towards the other end of the mountain where an earthquake appeared to be starting from the top as it cracked its way below. Michael might have been cool about it all, but seeing this ruined the whole calm facade he had been wearing.

"Are you seeing this?" They both said at the same time with their backs resting on each other's.

It was going all insane around them as lightning struck the ocean and the ocean mirrored the very same action.

Their fingers traced each other's from behind them and they held on tightly.

"Now might be a good time to get us out of here, Michaela, don't you think?" Micheal said with a voice that screamed fear in capital letters.

"I'm trying. It's not working…" Before Michaela could finish uttering her words, the world around them went black. The sun was nowhere to be found, nothing was hanging in the blind sky that they couldn't see.

All their bodies could sense were rumbles from the mountain and rushing winds from all angles accompanied by lousy scattered waves from the ocean.

They were horrified by this all and they held on to each other more tightly than they already did.

"I love you, Michaela, and I'm sorry that I couldn't let you live a better life". Michael said as he cried like a newly born baby.

"No, don't say that, Michael. You are the best thing that ever happened to me. I couldn't have asked for anything better than that…. better than you" Michaela said as tears flooded her breaking voice.

Michael couldn't think of a better reply than a warm and tight embrace as he turned from her back and hugged her while she sniffled on his chest and he did on her shoulders.

This was an emotional moment for anyone who'd have been there as they exchanged words that weighed more in tears of affection.
