Chapter 21 - Jane Opened up to Miss Charlotte

Miss Charlotte: how are you? Miss Charlotte started, looking so tenderly at Jane who was now seated opposite her in a square-shaped office desk that was a replica of every staff desk in Rancho High.

Jane: fine, Jane replied hesitantly.

Miss Charlotte sense her distant behavior and decides to go slow on her. Jane's outburst cleared her intuition that something was definitely bothering her. She used to be one the smartest students in her class from the middle grade, but with time her scores started dropping, she initially thought it may be a matter of time before she might start picking up, but that was yet to happen. Now She decided to use Charles who is a genuine in French to see if there would be a difference, and it should work because that was the best she had to offer...

Miss Charlotte: working with Charlse, is it helpful? Miss Charlotte went straight to the point, watching her every response.

Jane: Yeah. She answered again but this time, she was more confident.

Miss charlotte: good. you know Jane, in a lot of ways you remind me of myself when I was your age. Miss Charlotte said sounding sentimental, She observed her mood before continuing. I think we should stick together with all these crazy boys running around here. So tell me, how are you, like really, how are you... Jane burst into tears, and Miss Charlotte couldn't help but sense that something was really bothering her, "come here, Miss Charlotte started in a hushed tone taking her hands.

Jane: am sorry, I... Jane apologized but couldn't complete the sentence.

Miss Charlotte: no no, you don't have to apologize, it's good to cry; much better than keeping all that crap inside right. what time do you have to be back from school?

Jane: 2:15, Jane replied amidst sobbing, miss Charlotte handed her some tissue papers before continuing.

Miss Charlotte: 2:15. that's good you know, it will give us a little time if you'd like to talk a bit. Miss Charlotte started trying to start a friendly conversation. But Jane wasn't an easygoing one, having her parent always in a cat and dog jest, coupled with the rumors in school about her being some big as**ol, she was already done with everyone trying to act like they'd care.

Jane: why are you doing this? She asked in a bit revolted.

Miss Charlotte: I like you and because I think maybe you don't have anyone else to tell. Miss Charlotte explained truthfully, that she wasn't going to false her to talk, besides she was only doing what any teacher out there could do for her students.

The conversation didn't last for five minutes but Miss Charlotte was able to get some confidential information from her about her parent's matrimonial issues and how it was affecting her everyday activities, Miss Charlotte later left her with her phone number assuring her that she could always count on her as a shoulder to cry on.
