Chapter 10 - Preparing and Planning

I found the inn after asking around. To be honest, I don't expect the quality as it's a cheap-looking inn for travellers. They rent an individual room for around 50 copper coins a day, so it's 15 silver coins a month. There's also sharing a room with two beds in it for around 75 copper coins a day, I guess most adventurers choose this room.

As for the cheapest one, I won't call it a room but instead, it's one big room without any bed in it. People are sharing space with many other people and they sleep on the wooden floor. It's very cheap, around 10 copper coins a day. So naturally, I choose this room. It's hard sleeping on the floor with many other people, but I won't complain about it.

The next morning, the first thing I do is find a clothing shop. I'm not asking around so I'll use this chance to go sightseeing as this is the first big city that I go inside this web novel world. There's some variety of races here from the usual troupe of demi-humans. As expected from fantasy novels I guess.

It took me some time to find a simple-looking clothing shop, the store owner is one of those rabbit demi-human I guess?

"Do you sell some robes?", I ask.

A robe is a thing when you're a traveller in a fantasy world, so I won't forget about that. Seeing me, he just point to a cheap-looking robe stacked over there. Yes, this is what I needed, I don't need an expensive-looking robe.

I just casually pick a brown colour robe and wear it. It's a bit oversized for me, but that'll do for now. I turn towards the shopkeeper and ask, "how much for this robe?"

"It's 5 silver coins"

I don't expect it to be quite expensive. Should I try to haggle? but when I think about it, this price should be reasonable, as this is a medieval fantasy world, and cloth production should be a difficult thing to do, especially a thick and heavy cloth-like robe.

"Here it is, 5 silver coins then"

So, I wear the robe and leave the shop. The next thing that I should get is a weapon. To be honest, I don't know how to use it. But just in case something dangerous happens, having a weapon should increase my chance of survival I guess?

It didn't take me long to find a weapon shop. As I expected, the owner is a dwarf. I look around and see many kinds of weapons. But for an amateur like me, just a sword is enough. So I began to pick up some swords and swing them. I couldn't find any difference between them, it's hard to choose.

"You're an amateur", Said the store owner.

"I am. I'm just buying this just in case"

"Are you a novice adventurer?"

"I'm not, but I want to try being one in the future"

"Really? with that skills of yours? You'll be dead before you know it, young man"

I know what this dwarf thinking. Being an adventurer may be dangerous if you're taking a dangerous quest like monster hunting, but if I take some relatively safe quest like finding a lost item or a delivery chore, the chance of finding a dangerous situation would be small.

"I know my skill, so I'll just take a relatively safe quest"

"Good, it's good to be young, but please don't be full of yourself. Taking a safe quest is also fine. Many young adventurers just want to take a dangerous quest and make their name famous, but most of them end up losing their life", He said while nodding to himself.

I guess he said that for my own good, so I won't hold it for him. By the way, I'm still an adult inside, so I think I won't make the mistake that most youngsters do.

"How much does this sword cost?", I ask the store owner while picking up a normal-looking sword.

"12 silver coins", he said without batting an eye, "if you also want to get the baldric to hang the sword on your waist, I'll give it to you for free"

So 12 silver coins for the sword and baldric huh? Really, I still think this sword is expensive, but I still need to buy it. So I hardened my heart and pay the store owner. After that, I wore the baldric on my waist and hang the sword there.

After all this buying spree, I'll end up with only around 32 silver coins. But I'm comforting myself by thinking that this is a necessary expense.

I could buy all these things in other cities. But it should be common sense that the nearer you are to the capital, the more expensive things are. It's always like that everywhere you go, even in the other world. So I buy these things when I'm still close to the countryside.

I don't plan to stay long in this city. So after buying jerky and bread, I found myself inside another wagon moving towards the other cities. I plan to do this until I get to the capital. I only stop for 1 night in each city or town before moving the next day towards my next destination.

There are no exciting things happening. When you're a weak person inside a world of magic and dangerous monsters, the more boring it is, the safer you are. Only when things get out of hand and you find yourself in an "exciting" situation, that's when you could lose your life.

The whole journey towards the capital cost me around 7 silver coins and took around 12 days. On the way there, I collect some information about this world that wasn't written in the novel from my fellow travellers.

The only information that interests me is about one of the strongest adventurers in this country. From the information that I got, it seems that he's looking for a Fledil flower and is willing to pay a high price for that.

Based on my knowledge, that flower is a medicine-type flower that was said to be able to cure any kind of illness. From the novel, I know that it's a very rare flower that only grows in Huiphy orthodox empire. It's said that the dragon soul resides in that country and specializes in healing magic. The surrounding dragon souls emit unique mana that makes many kinds of plant grows. Mostly medicine plants and one of them is the Fledil flower.

But even in the Huiphy orthodox empire, the flower is extremely rare, and it's forbidden to use the flower without the consent of the pope. I won't go as far as believe it. Even in the novel, there's no evidence of the flower being able to cure any illness, so I doubt that.

But my concern is about the strongest adventurer than willing to pay for this flower. If my guess is right, then he has someone he wants to heal no matter what. Using that information, I could get him to help me get the evil dragon's soul in Agrasha's empire.

The novel describes the evil dragon power as the strongest among all the dragon power. I may be able to resolve the adventurer problem, and although I'll lose my lifespan for a bit, it's worth it. I have to go to the capital and convince him then. If he rejects me, then I'll have to find another plan.

After arriving at the capital, I have to go to the adventurer's guild. That's my resolve for now.
