"Okay we're going now"
"Please be careful, dear", Said the old woman with worry on her face while looking at me.
I don't know what to say except to see her before following the old man outside the yard from the gateless fence around it. When I turn my head a little I could still see her worry face she have while standing outside the house. I won't call it a shack anymore as it seems I'll be living there from now on.
As I keep walking I feel so ridiculous. The first thing I realize is that I don't even wear any footwear and so is the old man. The road that I treaded is also full of soil. Yes, I'm walking barefoot somewhere on this soil ground. I don't even know where I'm going as I just keep following the old man.
The sun is starting to rise luckily as we don't even bring any lighting tools. But my vision is still limited. From what I see, there's a similar run-down house on the side of the road. Each house doesn't stick too closely to the other. From that, I could conclude that I'm living in some countryside, and a very poor one at that.
We keep walking and the number of houses becomes less and less until I start seeing ricefield on the left and side of the road. At the time that the sun started to rise, it become beautiful scenery for me. Even I started to forget many questions inside my head as I see that scene as we walk. To be honest, living in a big city all my life, I never see a scene such as this. Yes, I can see it in a movie, but seeing it with my own eyes just feels different.
"We've arrived"
Our destination feels different. As there's a big house, several big buildings near it, and a large paddy field. I am curious about the job that this old man is talking about, but it seems like it's about managing other people's fields. Not just field, but also some other several farmwork like tending the cattle and so on.
This old man begin to work like he know what he was doing but what about me? I've never done any farmwork, my whole life dude. I know I have to do my fair share of work in order to live from now on, but farmwork? really?
"What happened, kid? why just stand still like that? come on do your work here"
"uh... I seem to forget how to do the work"
"HAH !?"
