No, no, no.
The girl suddenly felt disconnected from the world. In her mind she was trying to grasp the little of whatever remained but even that was impossible. All of it vanished and the world plunged into nothingness. No screams could be heard or for that matter no sound at all. She tried stomping her foot on the ground in anger but there was no ground.
There was nothing at all.
She couldn't even tell if she was standing or lying down.
Am I even falling or rising up?
Strange huh? She thought. She had always thought it would be dark if nothing remained but it wasn't so. She couldn't describe it. All she could see was a colour she'd never seen before.
Finally seeing that all was lost, she started to shed tears.
Mom, Dad? Where are you?
She was a child and like most children, although naïve, she believed her parents were the strongest. To her, nothing could kill them.
No! They were not dead. Everyone else, maybe but her parents never!
They were lost, yes that's it! They were just lost.
The girl became irrational when it came to matters involving her parents. How could someone be lost when the world was just destroyed? Logic would point at their death for as powerful as one might be, they still need to breathe. And that's just the basic of flaws. There were more.
Anyway, let's ignore the girl's attempts to calm herself.
To her, since they were lost, they only needed to be found again.
Where would you look for someone if the world is destroyed you might ask but the girl didn't.
After an unknown amount of time passed, loneliness slowly started creeping upon the girl. Although not the first time, this one was the worst. For this time, she knew that it would last forever.
Just then, she felt the echo of footsteps. Yes, she felt them. For in this world, sound could no longer be heard.
A woman approached her and without any words, just hugged her. Tears started falling out of the girl's eyes when she felt the warmth.
"It's my fault, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry….."
The girl apologized over and over again with occasional sneezing, coughing and snorting sounds in-between the words she mouthed.
The woman hugging her dearly wanted to say it's not the girl's fault but that would be a lie. And she had developed a habit of not lying over the years, and so had the girl. Lying would be pointless as both could not lie and both could tell when someone was lying.
Time passed again and changes were starting to emerge. Sound could now be heard. A small development you might think but only those who have lived without sound and then finally gained it can truly appreciate this deed.
More time passed and the number of people grew. All of these people were people the girl already knew. You can tell that they were not normal, otherwise they would have died the rest of humanity.
As time passed, the world was slowly rebuilt. Now there was the ground, you didn't have to feel like you're drifting in space anymore. With each passing moment, the girl's confidence grew and so did the splendour of the world for this world belonged to the girl.
Time keeps passing and the world is now almost back to what it was like before if you ignore the world wide shockingly low population which numbers in the double digits and the barren land.
Now the girl an everyone else are faced by a new problem. Their memories are fading.
But not all memories, it seems only specific memories are being erased.
They have tried writing down what they remember but they forget what they wanted to right. They've tried recording but as soon as they're about to, they forget what they wanted to record as well.
But there's one thing the girl won't forget, and that's her parents.
Time is passing and the girl is now losing memories of the time she spent with her parents.
She has now forgotten their faces and only remembers their names.
She has now forgotten that too and only remembers that she has to look for them.
Now she only remembers that she should be looking for something important but not what it is.
I feel like I'm forgetting something.
This is no longer a memory but it's now just a feeling.
She feels that she's something from her life but not what it is. This does not scare her though, what does scare her is that she might forget this feeling too.
